2.  Younger drivers are nearly two times more likely to be
involved in a traffic accident than older motorists.
 In 2010, about 2,700 teens in the United States aged 16–
19 were killed.
 16-year-olds have higher crash rates than drivers of any
other age.
 Teenage drivers and passengers are among those least
likely to wear their seat belts.
 In 2008, 37 percent of male drivers ages 15-20 who were
involved in fatal crashes were speeding at the time.
 Those at high risk for motor vehicle crashes are young
males, teens driving with teen passengers and newly
licensed teens.

costs between $45 and $600.
 For speeding 1 to 10 mph over
the limit, the range is $45 to
$150.
 For speeding 11 mph to 30
mph, the range is $90 to $300.
 For speeding 31 mph or
more, the range is $180 to
$600.
 For a second speeding
conviction, the maximum fine
can be increased by up to $150
and for a third it can be
increased by up to $375.
