Her Future Moves provides a document to help plan goals for 2019, encouraging the reader to imagine achieving their goals in a year and reflecting on accomplishments. It recommends setting three specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals for 2019 and finding symbols to represent and remind oneself of each goal throughout the year. The document stresses that meaningful, realistic goals and small, regular progress can help one achieve success in 2019.

“Most people overestimate what they can do in one year
and underestimate what they can do in ten years.”

Using the information gathered in the 2018 Reflection Task, imagine sitting at this desk in a
year’s time, looking back on your accomplishments. How did you spend your time? Who
were you working with? What was your biggest professional achievement?
What made you laugh? What did you work hard on?
The best part about setting goals for the New Year, is getting excited because you know that
you can totally smash them! Goals should be personal to you and your values. The more
meaningful and realistic they are, the better!
Think about 3 goals you want to achieve sometime in 2019. They should be:
Specific – Get as detailed as possible!
Measurable – How can you ensure you’re on track?
Achievable – No pie-in-the-sky goals. We want REAL stuff!
Relevant – How is this goal relevant in your 5-20 year plan?
Timebound – When will you achieve this goal? Will it take 10 days or 10 months?
Remember – you can ALWAYS make more goals after you have achieved your first 3. The
key is to not get overwhelmed or bogged down.
I suggest drawing or finding a small image that represents your goal. It can be a little symbol
or word that only you know about, then – post in places that remind you of your goals. This
will help keep you on the trajectory to smash your 2019 goals!
2019 is going to be an incredible year!
