Challenges and solutions for remote teaching
Sheryl and I are very happy to be here today sharing our recent knowledge in Remote Teaching and past experience in Face2Face and Teaching online.
We have over 40 years of teaching experience, we have collaborated on many projects online in the moodle for teachers site, also moderated and presented over the years.
We take this opportunity to thank eMELTA for inviting us to collaborate in this live Webinar. We hope to give you an insight into the challenges and solutions that we encountered in the recent lockdown during the school year.

After finishing his current studies, Randy plans to take a year off before pursuing further education to become a professional photographer, a career he has become interested in through his business classes.

Graduating students experience anxiety about finding employment after college due to worries about repaying loans, living independently, and fitting into a new job. They feel unprepared to secure employment after investing significant time and money into their education, as career services provided limited help and many classmates struggled to find work. To reduce this anxiety, students need assistance finding jobs through internships, networking, and preparing for the transition into the workforce and expectations of employers.

1) Developing a peer mentoring program can help sustain online students by providing academic and non-academic support to address issues like isolation, technical problems, or personal crises.
2) An effective peer mentoring program pairs successful past students with current ones to model best practices, facilitate discussions, and maintain close communication with faculty.
3) Proper training, compensation, and assessment of mentors and the overall program are essential to ensure mentors understand expectations and the program meets its goals of improving student performance, satisfaction, and retention.

However, over the years, institutions often report higher attrition rates for online courses than traditional face-to-face courses. As enrollments in online courses increase and online learning becomes a larger part of institutions' long-term planning, faculty and administrators are confronted with finding ways to improve retention in online courses and online programs. In this free webinar, presented by Academic Partnerships, the literature on attrition in online learning will be discussed as well as various strategies used to improve student retention in online learning.
