Model Sites Project
The idea of „Model Sites Project“ came from Open Society Institute, Mental Health
Initiative, Budapest. The main goal of this project was to find the “best practice
organisations” in the region of Central and Eastern Europe and broaden their practi-
ces, knowledge and experiences to other organisations in this region.
Civic Association Green Doors became one of 7 addressed organisations, which
were called on to realize 2 years educational program. The Model Sites Project took
place in Civic Association Green Doors in the years 2002 – 2004.
To broaden the idea of “training cafés”, turn over the experiences with realization
of the projects and help in establishing new projects in participant’s organisations,
were the main commissions of the educational programme in C.A. Green Doors. “Tra-
ining cafés”, how C.A. Green Doors run them, are the projects, where vocational and
social rehabilitation is interconnected with the services for general public. Cafés are
intended mainly for young people with mental disability in early stage of the illness,
who prepare them selves here to return to ordinary lives, to open labour market or to
school.
