This funding request seeks £120k to enhance Shalford Park in Surrey. It would improve the unsafe pedestrian crossing near the park entrance (£70k) to better access the park. It would also install a playground for children ages 3-13 (£30k) and outdoor fitness equipment (£20k) to increase recreation and exercise opportunities in the park and attract more visitors. The goal is to get more local residents active through expanded facilities and safer access to the popular community park.

outdoor exercise. The equipment would increase fitness
visitors to the park

We want to expand the number of users of
the park – getting more people out being
active.
We estimate around 5,000 weekly users of
the park for walks, fitness, kids playing,
sports. This includes pedestrians and cyclists
using Dagley lane which runs on the easter
permitter of the park adjacent to the park.
We estimate 25-50% of these uses gain
access by the unsafe pedestrian crossing
The recent lockdowns has increased usage of
the park and we want to build on this so it
continues for many years to come. We want
the access to be better and safer to attract
and retain visitors of the park
Estimated cost for a pelican crossing and
better access is £70k
