VCHAIN SOLUTIONS IS
MAKING HISTORY IN AUSTIN!
ALEX PRICE
JOIN US APRIL 23 FOR THE SIMULATION COMPETITION. LUNCH PROVIDED.
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
There will be cash prizes for the winners and a grand
prize of getting a sponsored trip to Chicago in July
for competing at the SCTechShow Conference —
the largest supply chain group for youth. VChain
Solutions has hosted and organized many school
and college-level simulation competitions in the
past. The ideology of these competitions is to
expose students to the world of business and supply
chain operations on VChain’s cutting-edge cloud-
based technology called VChain ProActive™. The
competitions are interactive, fast-paced, and process-
oriented. The goal is to provide a fun yet competitive
way of learning for our students that will also serve a
lasting impact in their education.
VChain’s simulation competition has received appreciation from all quarters especially
from the students of both High schools and Colleges. However, the biggest appreciation
has been when our competitions have been able to support the career of our students.
One of our participants from Huston-Tillotson University was awarded a supply chain
internship program in Spain right after completing our program. There have been
many others, like Alex Price, a graduate of Anderson High School. He participated in
VChain’s simulation competition in 2015. He is currently pursuing a double bachelors
in Economics and Computer Science at University of California, Santa Cruz. He is
also working as a Junior Developer intern at VChain Solutions. Alex says that VChain’s
supply chain competition encouraged him to explore the field of supply chain and gain
an understanding of the importance of supply chain in our day-to-day life.
Getting an opportunity to effectively manage the supply chain of a company —fictional
or otherwise — with your peers, is a unique occasion. There’s a sense of urgency and
excitement that’s really unique to the program. Alex is presently excited to work on
VChain’s software. “I have flexibility, speed, and impact. One day I’m designing an
interface in Sketch, and the next I can be building it. That same interface will show up
in a competition, and be an integral part of that experience for the people present. That
level of impact isn’t something you can find at most companies.”
This event will provide a platform to more than
100 middle and high school students from 4
schools in Austin Independent School District.
AISD students will be divided into several teams
and will compete with each other in a grocery
store business simulation. Each team will run
their own company and work through different
disruptive events as planners, buyers, suppliers,
and inventory control analysts. Different technical
metrics will be used to assess the students and
teams respectively. Local business leaders will then
interview and judge the top teams to determine
the winners.
VCHAIN CO-HOSTS AUSTIN’S FIRST BUSINESS SIMULATION EXPO
SUPPLY CHAIN IS SO INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT TO LIFE AS WE KNOW IT. I LOVED THE REALISM DURING
VCHAIN’S SIMULATION COMPETITION. GETTING AN OPPORTUNITY TO EFFECTIVELY MANAGE THE SUPPLY
CHAIN OF A COMPANY, FICTIONAL OR OTHERWISE, WITH YOUR PEERS, IS A UNIQUE OCCASION.
THERE’S A SENSE OF URGENCY AND EXCITEMENT THAT’S REALLY UNIQUE TO THE PROGRAM.
VChain Solutions is
co-hosting Austin’s
first business
simulation expo
on April 23rd with
Austin Community
College, Highland
campus.
