• FiSAT II = is a program package
developed mainly for the analysis of
length-frequency data, but also
enables related analyses, of size-at-
age, catch-at-age, selection and other
analyses.
10. Management Area Planning (MAP)
• MAP is a process that enjoins the participation of different
stakeholders in the development of a resource management
plan.
• A Management Area Plan (MAP) document incorporates
management principles, programs, strategies, and activities to
get to a desired state/vision based on existing resources and
resource users, ecosystem physical characteristics, and
carrying capacity.

Responsibilities of the FFD Division
• Training new Fishery Management Area fishers in:
• Marine aquarium collection best practices including
sustainable collection techniques, post harvest
holding and handling, and rotational access
• Introduction of fishing gear emphasizing animal and
fisher safety, and collection efficiency
• Introduction and use of in-sea holding systems: sea
cages, flow through buckets and jars, etc.
13. Mariculture, Aquaculture, and Restoration
• Establishing coral mariculture operations in coastal
village waters
• Training/Employing local villagers in coral
propagation and mariculture techniques
• Providing sustainably cultured corals to the aquarium
trade
• Utilizing 30% of all maricultured coral frags in local
reef restoration projects
– Frags are to be planted onto damaged reef areas

Key aspects of TRADE traceability are:
• Tracing organisms to a Fishery Management Area (FMA) and their qualified fishers;
• Tracking organism movement through the market chain; and
• Recording and reporting organism mortality with auto response requirements at each
