RESEARCH : Interests in clinical, endoscopic and radiological correlations and assessment of
new until 1999 (Feb) GI procedures.
Studies included : Dysphagia, Endoscopical/radiological comparison in
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Colitis).
Doppler Ultrasonography, laparascopic ultrasonography and intravascular
ultrasonography in the preoperative assessment of hilar (Klatskin) tumors
of the liver and pancreatic head malignancies; 2D/3D CT imaging, virtual
colonoscopy, CT/MR; the development of new contrast agents (SH
U555A, BRI/015, OMP, Ferristene, Omniscan, PFOB) for US/CT/MRI use
of the GI tract (multi center trials).
The GI program was embarking on a series of prospective comparisons of
barium radiology MRI and endoscopy in specific groups of patients with
Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's colitis and prospective comparison of
different diagnostic modalities (Doppler Ultrasonography, Computed
Tomography, MRI, Angiography, Endoultrasonography, Endoscopic
retrograde cholangio-pancreatography and MRCP) in the preoperative
assessment of resectability of Bile Duct Malignancies.
