2. THERE ARE SO MANY TEST AVAILABLE TO DETECT A
HEART CONDITION. I WILL BE DISCUSSING THE
FOLLOWING:
• Doppler Ultrasound
• Holter Monitor
• ECG
3. DOPPLER ULTRASOUND
• Used to estimate the blood flow through your blood vessels by bouncing the
high frequency sound waves, known as an ultrasound.
• During a Doppler Ultrasound, a technician presses a small hand held device,
about the size of a bar of soup, against the skin over the area of the body being
examined.
4. IMAGE SHOWING A ULTRASOUND OF THE BLOOD
VESSEL AND CIRCULATION
5. A TRANSDUCER IS A SMALL HAND HELD DEVICE
THAT IS USED TO EXAMINE THE NEEDED AREA
7. HOLTER MONITOR
• A battery operated portable device that measures and records the hearts activity.
• The recording takes up to but not limited to 24 hours to 48 hours.
• This device is small and comes with silver dollar size electrodes that are attached
to wire, that stick to your skin.
• This device is portable and pocket size
11. ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHY
• Electrocardiography is also known as a ECG or EKG
• Used to measure the electrical activity and collect data of the heart.
• 6 electrodes are place on the chest.
• 2 electrodes on arm (one on each arm)
• 2 electrodes on legs (one on each leg)
12. ELECTRODE ABBREVIATIONS
• ECG Electrodes use abbreviation to help position placements
• RA = Right Arm; LR = Left Arm
• RL = Right Leg; LL = Left Leg
• V1, V2, V3, V4,V5,V6
13. ECG/ EKG ORDERING
• Most providers with order a ECG/ EKG for the following reasons:
• Fast or slow heart palpations
• Stress
• Fatigue
• SOB (Shortness of Breath)
