3. A Leadership Team focusing on increasing
Resort Green efforts and procedures,
while strengthening current processes
and sustainability efforts.
Meets on a weekly basis to discuss and
brainstorm new ideas, procedures, and
set standards for each department and
the Resort in whole to abide by.
Lead by the Director of Engineering,
consisting of the heads of each
department, The Green Team will lead
the Resort to a life of sustainability and
recycling, making The Meritage Resort
and Spa the Greenest Resort in the Napa
Valley!

Public Image as Green Leader
Make our commitment within our industry to running a
sustainable operation committed to Green Efforts and
Standards, increasing our image to the community as
an operation that gives back and supports its local
partners and family.
Reduce Operating Costs and Environment Footprint
By properly implementing record keeping methods to
track progress with each project and its return, to
working with suppliers who run Green Operations,
providing environmentally friendly packaging and
products.
Water Usage - Waste Disposal - Energy Usage -
Recycling
Educate
Educate and inspire staff, guests, the local
community, PHG, and the hospitality industry as a
whole to conserve and preserve.

6. How?
First – Get Approval from GM for Green Team
Second – Schedule the First Green Team Meeting
Third – Discuss current Green efforts and procedures, while brainstorming
new.
Fourth – Introduce Green Team at Monthly Safety Luncheon
Finally – Continue to grow commitment from each department and
department head by showing the results from changes made.
7. Training!!!
Training will be the most influential part of implementing the Green Team.
Informing housekeepers on proper disposing of Recycled Items and Waste, along
with soaps left by guests.
Training each department on new procedures, record keeping methods, current
usage/waste and its effect on the environment.
Record Front Office/Sales/Conference Catering Services paper usage and waste.
By including a short training in each Safety Luncheon Monthly, this will keep
employees engaged and motivated to continue to grow as a Green Leader!
8. Continue….
Once the Green Team has been properly implemented, meetings will continue
with the agenda on reviewing recorded results from changes, showing the
return on all Green Efforts.
By recording the changes, the Green Team is able to show the influence these
changes have made in each department.
The Green Team will continue to brainstorm new ideas along with keeping up
with industry trends worldwide.
Work towards LEED Certification.
