1.
As all of you know by now, Jackie and Chris were engaged on July 21, 2010 in Walt Disney World. In keeping with this Disney tradition, Chris and Jackie have decided to hold their wedding in the Most Magical Place on Earth. This newsletter serves as a brief overview of wedding information, as well as a tentative RSVP. We understand that you can’t plan your lives a year in advance, but we want to give you all as much time as possible to consider joining us in our celebration. We know having a wedding in Walt Disney World (or “WDW”) is, to be frank, inconvenient and inexpensive. However, when Jackie and Chris were discussing places to have their wedding (well, Jackie was doing most of the discussing; Chris was more or less saying “uh-huh”!), the place that they could think of that meant the most to them was WDW. They do, after all, vacation there every year, and it is where they were engaged. But, best of all, Chris and Jackie never wanted to have a grand, elaborate wedding celebration. No, they agreed they wanted something smaller, something a bit simpler and more intimate. Thus, the dream of a Disney wedding was born.Walt Disney World offers “Escape” packages that allow for the bride and groom and 18 guests. If you are reading this newsletter, then, congratulations: we want you to be among our 18 guests! While it was a difficult decision to make, we chose 18 of our closest friends and family members to celebrate our special day with us. If you do not think you will be able to attend, then we will not be offended in any way--- and, yes, we will be having an at-home reception in Connecticut after our Disney wedding. (Date to be determined.)Chris and Jackie are getting married!!!!It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.Wedding: January 6, 2012 Engaged: July 21, 2010 Jackie and Chris’s WeddingWhy Disney? When is the wedding?Page 2 of 3
Jackie and Chris’s wedding will be held on January 6, 2012. They chose this date for a number of reasons:There are only a handful of days out of the year when Jackie is able to get married because of her school schedule. Who wants to have a Disney Wedding in the summer?! Not us!January is one of the least expensive times of year to go to Disney World--- which will benefit us, as well as you, our guestsNOTE: Due to Disney’s policy, we cannot officially book our wedding until May 2011. These dates are subject to change, but the wedding will be in the first week of January.
No!!! Well, we wish we were: but no! We’re getting married and holding our reception at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, a hotel themed to recreate the atmosphere of turn-of-the-century Atlantic City. Both venues are lovely, and Epcot is just a mere walk away. An evening dessert party will follow the afternoon celebration. Please, do contact us! Jackie will be handling all questions. This book has everything you need to know about a Disney vacation. Please call or email Jackie and let her know if you think you will be able to attend. An official Save the Date will come in May/June, and an official invitation with an official RSVP in September/October. How can I contact you with further questions? So… you’re getting married in front of the castle? As soon as possible! We recommend booking 6-8 months in advance. While January is one of the slower times of year, we are having our ceremony the same weekend as the Walt Disney World Marathon, which does bring many guests to the “world.” The sooner you book, the more likely you will be to secure a discount. More information about room rates, etc. will come later. Jackie and Chris also recommend booking your room through their travel agent, whose information they will happily pass along to you! When should I book my hotel room? The castle dream lights will still be up in January!
