● The type of documentary is a mixed
documentary as it has interviews, narrator etc.
● The narrative structure of the documentary is
non-linear as it jumps between interviews and
observations that are in different time periods.
3. Camera work
● Handheld cameras are used in the
documentary to allow the audience to feel close
to the action.
● There is handheld work when Shanbana is
getting interviewed by the police, at this point
also an over the shoulder shot is used so that
only the police officer is fully visible.
● The documentary also conventionally follows
the rule of thirds within it's interviews.
4. Mise-en-scene
● There are shots of police officers in a police
station, obviously anchoring their relevance to
the documentary as a crime has been
committed.
● The documentary follows the police in their
investigation, every background is crucial to the
topic as each place had relevance to the
investigation.

● There was a narrative voice-over (voice of God)
used throughout the documentary.
● Non-diagetic sound is used to create a more
sinister atmosphere for the documentary.
● The sound of a keyboard can be heard when
Shanbana is giving her statement, meaning the
police are taking down information. Anchoring
her relevance to the topic as she is useful to the
police's investigation.
