1. Narrative Structure Components – Jack Booth
The linear structure allowed me to utilise some of the
main components in a narrative, such as an Opening,
which provides a clear introduction to the storyline. I
also included Conflict in the story, which is in the
form of the alien character, which helps to drive the
story by giving the monkeys something to focus on,
which is escaping the alien. It has a clear Resolution at
the end of the story, which is when the monkeys
escape which is good for the storyline. My story
doesn’t really feature an Enigma as creating a puzzle
to intrigue the children’s audience wouldn’t be as
understood and well received with the young
audience. I have a Climax in my narrative structure
but it is very quick, which is when the monkeys go
around the planet and escape the alien. I didn’t use
any Manipulation in my narrative structure, as I felt
that it would be too confusing and was unnecessary
to the children’s book.
