RELINKING THE SUPPLY CHAIN. RETHINKING PROPERTY
In Europe’s cities ‘same-day delivery’, last-mile fulfilment and urban logistics’ unique challenges will
fundamentally change the types of distribution properties required.
SUPPLY CHAIN IMPACT
Changes in retail, including the growth in online
sales and returns, are driving requirements
for an expanding range of delivery models,
and therefore new logistics models.
Businesses should look at greater
collaboration, including shared-user
facilities and consolidation centres,
and multi-modal options.

economies which would require
transformations in logistics.

RELINKING THE SUPPLY CHAIN. RETHINKING PROPERTY In Europe’s cities ‘same-day delivery’, last-mile fulfilment and urban logistics’ unique challenges will fundamentally change the types of distribution properties required. SUPPLY CHAIN IMPACT Changes in retail, including the growth in online sales and returns, are driving requirements for an expanding range of delivery models, and therefore new logistics models. Businesses should look at greater collaboration, including shared-user facilities and consolidation centres, and multi-modal options. Cities will seek to become 24-hour economies which would require transformations in logistics. CITY LOGISTICS WHAT’S CHANGING? Efficient city logistics will become essential due to last-mile delivery having to deal with escalating parcel volumes and other urban challenges such as congestion, city-centre access and transport infrastructures prioritising people, not goods.
