2. Step 1
After deciding on the colour of my
Magazine listing, I wasted no time on
moving on to the conventions that are
vital for a magazine listing. The
insertion of the Masthead was the very
first major step towards my magazine
listing. The title of my documentary was
the chosen masthead, followed by
editing such as the font, size, colour
and positioning.
3. Step 2
The second step was a simple one yet again,
crucial for any magazine listing. The
involvement of a catchy sub- heading, after the
insertion of the sub-heading, editing was
necessary. I chose a rhetorical question for my
sub heading as it influences viewers to read on.
In order for the sub heading to jump out to
viewers and have the best possible meaning, a
solid colour which compliments the general
colour scheme must be considered, the font
and the positioning. The positioning in likely to
be the most important aspect of the sub
heading, I chose to follow my inspiring
magazine listing found online and place the sub
heading directly under the masthead.
4. Step 3
The text was next on the list for working
towards as it is equally as important compared
to the images in particular, there should be an
equality between the two conventions and
therefore compliment each other. Baring this in
mind, I proceeded with the editing of my text as
I already had a clear idea on what it was I was
to write. After typing up my text in the accurate
positioning in accordance with my inspirational
magazine listing, the font and the size was
important to consider.
5. Step 4
The main image was to be considered
next, in accordance to my inspiration
magazine, I chose to place my main
image in the large open space to the
right hand side of the page. Swiftly after,
I was forced to edit the image, for
example allowing a lightened glow
appear from beyond the image allowing
the image to stand out.
6. Step 5
The second image which was inserted
was one of the school sign near the
main entrance of the destination in
which the documentary was filmed. I
chose to again look towards my
inspirational magazine listing and
analyse their potential reasoning for
the positioning of their second image.
I came to the conclusion that it
compliment the text best as it stop the
current topic of in which was being
said in the advertisement, allowing a
swift change of subject on the
opposite side of the image. This can be
seen clearly in the following slide.
7. Step 6
The text generated here is less about
the documentary itself, instead
focusses on the persuasion on the
audience to watch this documentary.
‘UNTIL NOW!’ in bold, capital letters
initially allowing the phrase to stand
out. However I noticed the sub heading
was the only colour of red in the colour
scheme therefore appeared as random
and un necessary. In order for this
statement to compliment t the sub
heading I decided to involve the same
colour yet a different shade
encouraging the viewers eyes t drift
towards that element.
8. Step 7
This image had nothing to do with the
chosen image of magazine listing that I
have previously referred to many times
earlier on in the project. I felt as though
the magazine needed an extra element, I
chose a location shot strictly
emphasising on the documentary’s
destination, in the near distance one can
blatantly see the mass amount of
students across the ground, yet in the far
distance, a significant building where by
studying takes place can be seen. Editing
was of course a procedure that could go
a miss, therefore I granted the image a
dark and mysterious shadow which
allow the image to stand out.
9. Step 8
The final step for my magazine listing was
the insertion of an important catch phrase
positioned in the top left hand corner. Not
only did I always intend on adding a
couple of catch phrases in my final piece, I
witnessed the clear evident of how
necessary they really are in the magazine
listings. I established that they contribute
largely to the general advertisement as
these statements are what audiences like
to read and therefore encourages them to
read on.
10. Step 1
The image shown to the left is on my
first step on Photoshop towards my
poster. The editing of my image, un
fortunately when I took this action shot
it came out darker than expected
therefore I had to enlighten the image
via Photoshop which was time
consuming however essential.
11. Step 2
The image to the left is a screen stot of
my second step towards my poster, vital
to advertisement, the release date ad
the broadcasting identity must be
revealed so that the documentary gains
viewers. Although Poster have the bare
minimum text despite the type/genre,
this relevant piece of information must
be involved.
12. Step 3
My third and final step towards my
overall poster was the insertion of the
headline and the catch phrase. The
headline is positioned in accordance
with my inspiration choice of poster.
The catchphrase positioned just above
is of my own personal content to add
that eye catching element which
viewers crave. The editing naturally
came after the insertion of the two
vital aspects.
