A briefing into the media based upon personal views and understanding. I hope the messages and values presented in this PowerPoint are acceptable and understood by all age groups.

In the following presentation, I will express my knowledge with
views and beliefs on how the media works.

A Filter A window

3. I say the media is a filter because…
 Everything in the media is almost a restriction/ like a cap. They want you to hear what they want
you to hear and they have the power to do that as the general public rely on any news for insight
on what is happening in the real world. The masses are unable to find any information by
themselves so we rely on a secondary source being the media. For example, if Rupert Murdock
does not particularly like a religious group, he will use the media to portray this group of people as
bad or even mute them from the media. We are blinded by subliminal messages,
 Maybe the media being a filter can be a protection as the general public may be disturbed if they
knew how many murders happened a day for example. Media can either corrupt one’s mind or can
cause a world of curiosity.
 Nick-named the tell-lie-vision, the elite individuals who control the media can manipulate the
masses through how many hours’ people spend using technology.

4. I say the media is a window because…
Although media is great, I refer media as a window because as
you look out of your window, you do not see the bigger picture.
You can only see, depending on where you are maybe a couple
of hundred metres into the distance. This compares to the
media as what we see on our screens is only what the media is
telling us, we don’t have another side of the story or a bird’s
eye view if it were. The view from our window (in reality) may
be quite beautiful depending on where you are. The media
may use this as an advantage like this illustration as people like
the UK may be more sound than over people in the ‘greater
picture’.

The image created is that he is an important and dominant male. His posture, his hands in
his pockets represent how he has made it to the top. Abel’s head is positioned straight
and upright suggesting people look up to him as a role model.
His image is positive as he is a Black, Canadian artist being portrayed in a positive way.
This implies that although he is black, he does not allow his past life as well as the history
of the black culture down. There are many racist people about, this has no effect on him.
He is extremely smartly dressed with an expensive looking parkour jacket, a gold chain
and a silver chain (possibly platinum) definitely a hefty price tag. His apparel makes him
look superior suggesting high status in the celebrity paradise.
Many audiences may not like him due to association with sex, drugs and swearing within
parts of his music or music featuring this artist. Many conspiracies hint that he is involved
with the illuminati as many of his associates like Drake and Rihanna are involved in this
secretive network.
