1. GEORGE HARRISON MUNICIPAL PARK
Olive Branch, Mississippi
Master Plan of Site
View looking West to lake Soccer Ball Plaza
Originally a Needs Assessment was completed for the
community and through the Needs Assessment it was
determined that a new soccer facility was required. A
master plan was developed for the City of Olive Branch
for a soccer facility located on recently purchased land
located in a flood prone area. The property was long and
narrow thus dictating the layout of the facility. Lakes
were incorporated into the plan to provide additional fill
material for grading of the fields and concessions/restroom
building. The five fields to the left of the lake are the first
phase of construction. As part of the first phase, one field
has tournament lighting while the other four have recreational lighting. The sports lighting system
will be computer controlled and hard wired through the telephone system. The fields have
subsurface drainage, irrigation. The soccer fields were sprigged with Bermuda T-10. Two large
soccer balls were designed into the plazas using colored concrete.
