oCanker sore
oCharacterized by recurring ulcers confined to oral
mucosa in patients with no other signs of disease
oEtiology unknown
oOccur in 10-20% of general population
oBegins in childhood

o Affects mobile mucosa
o Most common ulcerative condition
o 3 forms:-
1. Minor: 80%, less than 1 cm in diameter, heals without scar
2. Major: 1cm in diameter and take longer time to heal, may scar
3. Herpetiform: manifests as recurrent crops of dozens of small
ulcers, heals in 7-10 days without scar
