My second part of my ELP.

1. Can we achieve the MDG's by 2015?
Getting started:
1. What are you opinions of MDG? Which do you think is the most important?
- I think MDG is very ambitious but it is a good try, I don't really think that these
targets will be met by 2015, it is just physically impossible. So many times the UN or
NATO for so has tried to make a plan or so kind of agreement that has to be met by
some time in the future. They never get met and are just hopeless in the end.
If we have to nail out one important MDG I would pick 'Universal Education', without
education you won't gain any knowledge and then not get work and lastly no salary
to give to your parents. People will only be there, get many children and have no
shelter, this will cause more poverty in this world.
Developing your learning:
1. What MDG am I investigating? - I am investigating 'Global Partnership' (from now
on known as G.P)
2. You will be investigation one of the MDG's. Which are you are going to choose?
Why? - I chose G.P because I felt like I know a lot about G.P because I live in
Malaysia, come from Bangladesh and a Norwegian citizenship. It just felt right to
choose this topic so everyone could get my opinion about this MDG.
3. Make sure you understand what your MDG is.
a. What is the main aim/aims of your MDG? What do they want to achieve by 2015?
- The aims of G.P is to get a world that is united, no racism for jobs, a fair system for
even the less developed countries, the so called LEDC's and just make everything
fair for every single human being.
b. Why is this goal so important? why did the UN choose to focus on it?
- This goal is important because without a fair world there will be more corruption a
bigger difference between rich and poor. It is like before when everyone talked about
the '3rd world", why should people that is affected by corruption, racism be in this
group? That is why the UN wants to focus on this MDG.

2. c. How do they hope to achieve the goal? - They hope to achieve the goal by giving
more aid to 'LEDC's' so they can develop easier and by giving them a better
education or education in the first place.
d. What has been achieved already? Can you quote evidence of 2 or 3 examples of
projects and places?
- In the Aid part of this goal several 'MEDC's" have agreed on a deal that says that
the country will contribute 0.7 % of their Gross National Income each year but only 5
countries has achieved to give any of their money for Aid these are: Sweden,
Norway, Netherlands, Denmark & Luxembourg.
Out of 37 'LEDC's' that are eligible for the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC)
debt relief program, 13 have successfully implemented policy reforms and poverty
reduction programs. 14 other countries have developed a poverty reduction strategy
are now eligible to start receiving reductions in their debt.
