This presentation was delivered as part of the "Environmental Certification for Construction Professionals - ECCoPro" project first workshop. The objective of the ECCoPro project is to explore the opportunity of introducing an environmental certification system for building professionals in Ireland. For further information on this project please visit https://www.igbc.ie/policy-and-regulation/renovation-strategies/eccopro-environmental-certification-construction-professionals/.
7. About ECCoPro
• Develop a framework for holistic
cross-sector training of
construction professionals
•Complemented by a customer-
friendly accreditation system
14. ECCoPro - Update
• Environmental Certification for Construction Professionals =>
Environmental Certification for Building Professionals
• We are not trying to develop a new curriculum but we want to
better define the skills needed, to join the dots among existing
courses and to develop a clear pathway for upskilling building
professionals
• We want to drive the demand for energy efficiency upskilling
among building professionals

Good morning all
For those who do not know me, I am Marion Jammet – Project manager at the Irish Green Building Council
Part of that role, mainly work on 2 projects at the moment which are somewhat connected EccoPro and the Energy Efficient Mortgages
Before we move to the meat of this WS, I am just going to give you a short presentation:
Background information to this project – Apologies to those of you who have heard it before but lots of new phases today = want to make sure we are all on same page
Progress made since the kick off meeting last month
Objective of today’s meeting & what we are trying to achieve
2016: IGBC, conjunction with DCCAE, organized a comprehensive consultation process to co-design an ambitious NRS for Ireland
H2020 funded project – BU
Led to the publication of a final set of recommendations to unlock Ireland’s energy renovation potential in 02.17
Supported by over 200 key stakeholders
2016: IGBC, conjunction with DCCAE, organized a comprehensive consultation process to co-design an ambitious NRS for Ireland
H2020 funded project – BU
Led to the publication of a final set of recommendations to unlock Ireland’s energy renovation potential in 02.17
Supported by over 200 key stakeholders
As part of this process – lack of skill at all levels of the supply chain = one of the main risk to a successful implementation of this strategy
More specifically when it comes to upskilling of building professionals in energy efficiency = here is what was suggested by people involved in this process
Simple!
That in mind we applied for funding with SEAI to develop ECCoPro
What is ECCoPro?
10 month projects – started in July till April 2018
Objective
Simple
Lots of desk research – one-to-one meetings =thank you!
Publication of this document in September: Set the scene / Source of reference (Best practice = how could the framework look like)
Open it for consultation at the project meeting and through online consultation
At the end of this project meeting I felt a bit: like this
When back to my desk, took a cup of tea – looked back at my notes and a week later at the results of the survey (= thanks to all of you that completed it)
3 words that sum up the discussion / how people felt about the process:
It’s ambitious
It’s going to be difficult
But it’s needed
Looked at this 3 words and reflect on the project kick-off meeting = really reminded me of the consultation process when we started 18 months ago. Recruited to run that consultation process – not written the proposal / not from the building industry – 1st 3 months like that, but eventually we designed a process that involved 200 key stakeholders across Ireland
Led to the publication of a comprehensive set of recommendations for a better national renovation strategy = haven’t seen the final document DCCAE shortly but we are already working on some of these recommendations: ECCoPro today, BPF Mortgages, Surveyors Green leases CPD = Yes, it’s complicated but together we can achieve something
Moving back to ECCoPro – Update on where we are at / objectives of today’s meeting
Building Professionals
No new curriculum
Driving Demand
Work to do around scoping: Environmental / Green / Low carbon = keep in mind
Today’s event split into two parts that really reflect some of the point that I have just made: 1. Better identifying skills needs 2. Driving the Demand for upskilling
WS1=> WS2 5th Dece. Defining a framework for holistic energy efficiency of training professionals
Feedback on key skills / how the system work / who influences whom so that I can design some models / framework 3-4 we can test together at the next workshop
Any Questions
