National Philanthropy: Domestic Violence Awareness & Prevention
• One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her
lifetime.
• An estimated 1.3 million women are victims of physical assault by an
intimate partner each year.
• 85% of domestic violence victims are women. Historically, females
have been most often victimized by someone they knew.
What is Domestic Violence anyway?
• Domestic violence is a pattern of coercive, controlling behavior that
can include physical abuse, emotional or psychological abuse, sexual
abuse or financial abuse (using money and financial tools to exert
control).
As members of Sigma Sigma Rho Sorority, Inc., we are all agents of
Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention.
