This document provides a step-by-step procedure to configure CRX DE Lite to your Eclipse workspace. It details the 7 steps to: 1) install the AEM Developer Tools plugin, 2) configure a Sling server and import projects from source control, 3) build projects with Maven, 4) add projects to the Sling server, 5) convert existing projects to Sling bundles and content projects, 6) initiate content syncing from CRX, and 7) debug by starting the CQ instance and Sling server in debug mode.

Pre requisites
 Eclipse versions starting with Kepler is recommended and supported
 Install the plug from AEM Developer Tools Web Site.
 Please follow the instructions mentioned here to install the plugin

Configuring CQ with eclipse
We need to configure sling server to connect to our CQ instance
Step 1
To kick off, create a new Sling Server using the File -> New -> Other... menu entry.

3. Step 2
Now that you configured your local server with cq port no and credentials, Its time to import our project
into eclipse
The export wizard available under
File->Import

4. Please select the SVN checked out folder

5. Following structure would be created in in you eclipse
Step 3
Please build the each module using maven install command as shown below

6. A jar file should be created in target folder as shown below
Tip: Please ensure that tools.jar is placed in you jre library in eclipse else maven build would fail

7. Step 4
Add the existing project to the newly created sling server, and then click finish

8. Now start the sling server from the servers tab
Step 5
Converting existing projects
To mark a project as being a Sling bundle module, right click it in the Project Explorer and Select
Configure -> Convert to Sling Bundle Project... . A dialog will appear with all the candidate Sling bundle
project from the workspace so that you can quickly select multiple projects.

10. Step 6
Convert UI module as content project,
To mark a project as being a Sling content module, click it in the Project Explorer and Select Configure ->
Convert to Sling Content Project.... A dialog will pop up and will ask you to confirm the inferred location
of the jcr_root directory.

12. Now select the root jcr from which you need to sync up the contents from you crxde
Above process would initiate sync up process, this process would take some time as the sync up is
happening for the first time
You can see the status of sync process by selecting AEM console in console tab

13. Step 7
There are no further steps to configure  , Go ahead and enjoy your coding

Debugging:
In order to debug you need to start your CQ instance and you sling server in eclipse in debug mode
To start the CQ instance in debug mode ,You need to make the following change either start.bat or
Quickstart.bat provided you need to invoke the edited file to start the cq instance

Set the CQ_JVM_OPTS as following

Please make sure that the port no marked in red above should be the same as debug port number in
Sling server of your eclipse
