5.  Climate
 The climate of district is generally dry with temperature ranging 5°C to 47°C
 The year in Karachi is divided into main three season
 The summer lasts from late February to mid-June
 It is followed by south-west monsoon, which lasts from late June to late September
 It is then followed by dry winter weather until mid-January
 Summer 31° to 47°
 Monsoon 20° to 30°
 Winter 4° to 30°

7.  Location of JPMC
The Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre is located at Rafique Shaheed Road in Karachi
Cantonment area of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. The JPMC is a public hospital established in
1959.

8.  Topography
 Karachi is the largest city in Pakistan located in southeastern part of the country.
 The city is an important industrial center and port on the coast of Arabian Sea
 It covers an area around 3,527 km² and mostly comprises flat or rolling plains with hills on the
western and northern boundaries of the urban sprawl.
 The two rivers namely River Malir and River Lyari flow through the city.

The planning is done with a concept of a commercial building of hot-dry climate.
Main O.T, Wards, Offices, labs and Toilets have easy accessibility providing small blocks
at various locations and reduces cross circulation of peoples.
Planning is done for double story building.
Large opening is provided for light and ventilation.

 NORIN is 64 beds hospital
 Project started in 2008 hospital constructed in 2012.
 Mainly three departments
1. Oncology department
2. Nuclear Medicine department
3. Radiotherapy
 Three ways for treatment ;
1. Radiotherapy
2. Chemotherapy
3. Iodine therapy

20.  CLIMATE
 The climate of Nawabshah is hot to extremely hot during the summers and cold/foggy during
the winters.
 The highest temperatures each year, typically rising to above 50 °C (122 °F), are usually
recorded in Nawabshah District and Sibbi from May to August.
 The climate is generally dry and hot, but sometimes the temperature falls to 0 °C (32 °F). On
January 7, 2011 temperatures dropped to 4 °C (39 °F) in the city.

28. 3. LINAR Larkana

29.  Introduction :
Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission established LINAR as its
fifth nuclear medical center at Larkana in year 1978.
46 beds hospital, 1200 patients last year and follow up patients 5 times to new pts.
This Institute is spread over an area of 9.5 acres of land.
Provides diagnostic and treatment facilities to cancer patients with latest
sophisticated medical equipment .

31.  Climate :
 Larkana is a monsoon climatic region.
 Summer is extremely hot as temperature reaches at 53 °C
 Winter is a little cool as temperature drops to −2 °C.
 On May 26, 2010 the mercury hit at record 53.4 °C becoming the hottest city in the country's
history.

treatment of cancer patients.
• latest equipment like LINEAR Accelerator, Cobalt-60 Teletherapy Machine, Dual Head SPECT
Gamma Camera, CT Simulator , Establishment of PCR Lab Construction of Auditorium Hall &
Construction of Aashyana are to be added in this institute.
