The unconscious casualty

1. The Unconscious Casualty
If the child or baby become unconscious
• Place them on a firm flat surface
• Open the airway and look into the mouth. Pick out any visible
obstructions
• Give 5 rescue breaths

2. The Unconscious Casualty
If the child or baby become unconscious
• Perform 30 chest compressions. Repeat cycle of 2 rescue breaths to 30 compressions
• Check the mouth for any visible obstructions each time before you give rescue
breaths. Pick out any visible obstructions.
• If you are alone, give CPR for one minute then call 999
• Continue CPR until the child starts breathing normally, help arrives or you become
exhausted.
