1. Report on Performance:
1.1. ""Celebrating Women in Business "
The wib event is one such activity , but used to achieve other wee related objectives and goals.
This is because , celebration wib that involve conducting and holding a series of events such as
media campaigns, workshops, exhibitions and promotional activities .
“’objective of wib event’’
The planned and organized wib event has multiple aims and goals , include: dot implements wib
event as a way of delivering a number of women economic empowerment workshops and scale
up services including creating networking and experience sharing platform as the wib event –
demands over 3 month long pre-event activities , workshops, on the top of these objectives, the
wib event is also implemented in collaboration with local partners and stakeholders with the
aim of :
 To recognize and appreciate the potentials and achievements of women entrepreneurs,
including those with disabilities, in generating employment and incomes . Showcasing
of women entrepreneurs as role models .
 Promoting the role of women's entrepreneurship development (wed). In national
development ,
 Renewing the commitment of stakeholders towards the promotion of women's
entrepreneurship development.
 Giving women entrepreneurs an opportunity to advocate and lobby in issues that are
relevant to them.
1.1. Pre-WIB Event activities :
A) Planning and coordination of the WIB Event
Recognizing the importance of ""Celebrating Women in Business " event and the need to
accomplish several pre-event activities in collaboration with local partners and stakeholders ,in
line with the above objectives and goals. The DOT Management , assigned , coordinating team
(a short term consultant and Gender Officer ) to coordinate the WIB event in consultation of the
Program manager .
The Coordinating team , started with Drafting the WIB –Event plan and creating common
understanding among the BDS team ,about the objectives and target set for the WIB event, The
draft WIB event and bazaar action plan , discussed and finalized .The Coordinating team –
developed a guideline and shared with a view to create common understanding among the
BDS team and partners.
B) Capacity building and awareness creation ;
One of the important –outcomes of the coordination and planning of the WIB event : having
interactive discussions including briefing of the objectives and various preliminary tasks to be
performed as well as how to integrate the relevant EBG planned activities and how and why–
partnerships has to be established and on the way available development resources are optimized
and number of WEs reached maximized.

(organizing and conducting the WIB celebration and corresponding pre and post activities has
three stages or phases and takes more than 3-5 months.) Such participatory pre-WIB event
coordination and planning approach enabled the BDS team in the regions accomplish the pre-
Event tasks and managed to organize the WIB Even in very short period of time, Prior to the
WIB event , the below pre-event tasks were performed by the BDS team in thee regions
(Hawassa ,AA, and Bahirdar) ; Include
 Theme of WIB celebration : The BDS centers also accomplished a number of pre-event
plans : in parallel , the coordinating team finalized the promotional strategies and tools
As Such - the theme of the Event, was consultatively formulated in both Amharic and
English ‘’
 Theme –for the WIB Event ‘’ሴሴሴሴ ሴሴሴሴ ሴሴሴሴ ሴሴሴ .. / (‘’women
empowerment –for sustainable development ‘’),
 Partners –identified and a general understanding was reached to collaborate in the
implantation of WIB Event and Exhibition , MOUs signed after identified new and
existing Partners , such as FeMMSIPA, in AA and WEA in Hawassa ) ,
 Budget :Detailed Action plan and Budget for the WIB event was also compiled and
submitted ,
 Promotional Materials :The contents of WIB event promotional materials brochures.
Banners,, flyers, Give away was prepared and procured centrally at DOT CO .T-Shirt
,Cap and Giveaways that publicize DOT’s WEE initiatives and achievements and create
marketing and promotional opportunities for members of Women Business Networks .
 Location: The WIB Event and Bazaar , required logistics and services was determined
and venders contracted .
 Venue and logistics for the WIB celebration was also arranged in partnership with
DOT’s Local partners (IN Addis Ababa –with FeMSSIPA , in Hawassa with WEA and
other sponsors.
 Date of WIB event, specific Agendas and time frame of the WIB celebration was
scheduled ,
o Key note from DOT country director in AA and invited representatives of
partners
o speakers and moderating team ,
o interviews and panel discussions with
o WEs with inspiring stories and session for motivational speakers
 Audiences of WIB celebration : identified and notified through invitation letters and
phone calls .
 Medias from FM ,TV and publishing were invited , the celebration of WIB and the WIB
–Bazaar and other DOT”s WEE initiatives in Ethiopia
 Exhibition/Bazaar program – Duration in Addis Ababa was for seven days and in
Hawassa for 15 days , as the WIB celebration was intentionally fixed at the EVE of
Easter and EID, to create – Marketing and sales opportunities for WEs ,
 Targeting / selection of WEs –in the DOT and partners-organized bazaar and Basic
exhibition skills courses also offered for WEs applied for Exhibition participation .

 TV ,FM radios and published medias identified and invited to cover WIB Event
Celebration WIB and Bazaar Participants also – notified the date , venue well in
advance.
2. Pre-WIB Event Workshops In Addis Ababa and Hawassa
2.1. Exhibition Skills ,Mini-trade show Workshops in Addis Ababa
Prior to the WIB event and Bazaar , both BDS centers ( AA and Hawasa ) Conducted tailor
made basic Exhibition and bazaar participation skills for small business owners including a mini
tradeshow -exhibition exercise and soft skills training was organized to equip the Women
entrepreneurs with basic Exhibition and bazaar participation skills.
2.1.1. Basic Exhibition skills –training in Addis Ababa
The DOT BDS center conducted – Basic Exhibition Skills –training was conducted and mini –
booth for Women Entrepreneurs on April 11,2022 at MARCEN hotel ,Addis Ababa. 53 WEs
participated acquired basic Exhibition skills on the workshop. Contents of the Exhibition short
course in the workshop: focuses on the below agendas: During the training sessions ,DOT
engaged trainers –began with ice breaker sessions , gathering participants prior experience and
exposure and their expectations from the training session;
 The objectives of the workshop –aims at equipping the WEs participants with basic
Exhibition skills steps , process that an entrepreneur should follow and perform :
 Contents of the training focuses :
 Before the Exhibition /bazaar ,
o - choosing the right event ,
o planning and budgeting
o conducting market research and
o know who customers and visitors and
their interest
o know your competitors
o Develop unique value proposition
o promotional materials
o booking and make everything ready
 During the Exhibition /bazaar :
o Welcome visitors, show your products ,
o Brief about your business and where
you operate
o Listen issues and questions raised from
visitors
o Respond the questions –in brief ,
o Record the name ,business address and
their interest in the note book including
contacts
o Give business card and flyers and
giveaways –
o Sale products , provide packaging ,
issues receipt
o Summarize the daily performed
activities etc
o Keep the booth clean and attractive ,
o When the customers and visitors flow is
low ,
o Visit the exhibitors booths and network
with other business owners
 Post exhibition activities and actions :
o Follow up on orders and potential
buyers ,
o Deliver secured orders.
o Arrange meeting with potential
suppliers
o Visit the distribution agents and
institutional visited your booth
o Establish business partnership
o Evaluate the overall Exhibition
performance ,benefits and costs
o Plan for better performance in the next
event.

2.1.2. Pre- WIB Mini -exhibition : in AA
- The Basic Exhibition skills –course was accompanied by Mini-tradeshow , as was
instructed during invitation , the 53 WEs targeted for the WIB -Exhibition were informed
to come and display their sample products and promotional materials ,
- Following the theoretical session, DOT trainers , Management and BDS officers – visited
the WEs products and promotional tools displayed at Marcen Hotel ,
2.1.3. immediate outcomes of the Exhibition Skills and Mini show
Workshop
- As was planned , except few WEs , Most of the targeted WEs for the upcoming
Exhibition displayed their products and promotional materials , further to the theoretical
session , the trainers and BDS officers visited the mini show and constructive feedbacks
was given to the WEs to make available : the listed out important inputs like , business
cards, brochure, banner. Record keeping books , Sales receipt and their license and TIN
etc
- The pre-Exhibition training and the mini show : according post training feedbacks , most
participants indicated to have acquired new lessons from the DOT delivered BDS short
courses and practical sessions.
- The Mini trade show and the training session, according to participants feedbackew : to
learn new business skills and created better understanding about the objectives of the
Exhibition and Bazaar participation,
- As most of the WEs sponsored to participate in the WIB-Exhibition are new and with no
prior experiences, the Mini show enabled DOT BDS team –to verify commitment and
readiness of the targeted WEs to participate on the WIB event
- feedbacks forwarded from the trainees also was positive and as they express their
satisfaction on the new information and skills acquired from the Workshop
- The training also boosted confidence of new participants with no prior exhibition and
bazaar experience, the participants equipped with basic theoretical knowhow and
practical exposure as a result of the mini show.
- For DOT BDS team in AA, such pre-exhibition activities and trainings helped to check
commitment and readiness of the targeted WEs to participate on the DOT sponsored WIB
–Exhibition.
- The Mini show and the training sessions also to share WEs experiences and establish
linkages for mutual benefiting ventures as well.
2.2. Pre- Exhibition Skills Workshop –In hawassa
In Hawassa, the BDS team organized a one
day Basic Exhibition Skills and modern
marketing management practices for 70
WEs sponsored to participate on the WIB-
Exhibition and Bazaar.
The Short course conducted at Central
SHoa hotel in Hawassa : The training was

conducted for targeted WEs belongs to the members of Birtu Women business Network and
other WBNs established with support of DOT Ethiopia in collaboration with WEA of Hawassa .
. The training content and topics covered and discussed are :
 Basic Business and Marketing Management skills
 customer handling for business success
 Benefits of Exhibition and bazaar participation ,
 Traditional VS modern marketing practices
 Promotional tools and Techniques for better access to market
2.3. Immediate outcomes :in Hawassa
The 70 WEs ,after the conducted training session, expressed their happiness , indicated to have
learnt important aspects to be ready and promote their products and Business on the upcoming
WIB Exhibition,
- Furthermore, most participants , based on lessons learnt in DOT’s prior training sessions , they
already started implementing modern marketing and promotional activities and promised to
make all out efforts in practically implementing the new skills they learnt from the Exhibtion
skills workshop.
- The training has also provided an opportunity for businesswomen to improve their attitude
through information sharing and creating linkages with other Women coming from different
Enterprises. And also the training participants got a chance to share their business experiences
with each other.
3. The WIB –Celebration in Hawassa
3.1. WIB Event celebrations in Hawassa
The planned WIB –Even was celebrated with the theme of ‘’ሴሴሴሴ ሴሴሴሴ ሴሴሴሴ ሴሴሴ
.. / (‘’women empowerment –for sustainable development ‘’), was held.on April 4th
2022. in
Hawassa. The WIB Event-Bazaar was organized by DOT and its partners (WEA-Hawassa and
WEDP) , during the opening ceremony of WIB celebration , about 100 invited guests drawn
from partners, WEs and public support organizations attended and celebrated the WIB Event.
WIB celebration participants
The WIB celebration audiences were about 100 people from various business sectors and
stakeholders. To mention few of the majour partner organizations attended on the WIB
celebration:Representatives of
- Sidama Regional State Trade and Development bureau
- Sidama Regional State Child and Women bureau,
- Hawassa City Administration Office,
- Hawassa City Trade and Development bureau
- Hawassa City Child and Women Affair
- Timret Women Business Association,
- WEDP
- Medias SNNPR and Sidam TV and FM radioss
Opening ceremony :
- The WIB Event was officially opened by the. WEDP and WEA- representatives and after
delivered speech from the Hawassa City , officials drawn from the city administration /

Promotional Materials :
- The WIB event promotional materials brochures. Banners,, flyers, displayed and
distributed to the audiences to publicize DOT’s WEE initiatives and achievements and
create marketing and promotional opportunities for members of Women Business
Networks .
- Give aways: he audiences were also provided with the T-shirt/ cap and the newly
developed Birtu Branded samples of newly developed Baltina products , packed with the
Birtu branded packaging by Birtu Women Baltina Network together with Common
promotional flyer of Birtu WBN –established with support and technical assistance from
DOT and WEA ,)
- Finally ,the WIB ceremony was concluded ,following the speeches delivered and
discussions held that appreciate the contribution of WEs in the country’s economic
development, the Exhibition was officially inaugurated and run for fifteen consecutive
days .
- The WIB celebration was also covered by SNNPR and Sidama Region TVs and FM
radios.
4. Exhibition and Bazar Event
The WIB Bazar and exhibition was organized by DOT and its local partners (WEA_timret and
WEDP) . immediately after concluding the WIB celebration – DOT facilitators invited the
participants to visit the Bazzar Market Shades and ask participants for feedback. Participants
remarked that it was an excellent opportunity to advertise their businesses and receive visibility
while also forming a network.Duration of the Bazaar /Exhibition was fifteen days (4th
April to
16th
April 2022) in the center of Hawassa city ,
4.1. Participants : Exhibitors (WEs )
A total of 70 WEs belongs two WBNs and 54 members of the WEA-hawassa, of the 70 WEs, 16
of the Women are belongs to the two WBNs supported by DOT WBN .
- BERTU BALTINA have 8 members ( 4 of the members resigned when the members and
leaders started contribution for joint purchase of raw materials ,
- Neser women's food and processing network
also has 8 members
- The costs of the 30 booths )tent rented and
other chairs and tables were coverd by DOT
and its local partners WEDP and WEA-
Timret.
- Although ,performances and outcomes of the
WIB Event and Exhibition was not
conducted and compiled in this report , the
Exhibition and bazaar benefited the WEs in
many aspects :

During the various pre-WIB event training and other preliminary meetings , the WEs aqiured
new skills and lessons that helped them in strategically think and explore opportunities that allow
them to expand their business ,
During the WIB exhibition – in addition to generated sales , the event created opportunities to
establish linkages with potential customers , secure orders and establish business partnerships
with suppliers and service providers. The Exhibition also helped the WEs to exchange
experiences , get constructive feedbacks from customers to improve their products and services
 participants in the Business exhibition and bazaar have been able to sell their products
and services, network with other participants, and promote their products and services to
clients.
 It also assists them in evaluating their business and know the market side informations
and demands,
 First time Exhibition participants : experienced the various issues that they have to
address in the future :includes –products demanded and what customers needs and the
need to customize the products to suit the tastes and other parameters of customers.
 Participants are generally pleased, and they recommend that dot have another bazaar
display for them and other women entrepreneurs.
Moreover, other government and partner organizations come to see what dot is doing and
offer to collaborate with it in the future.
4.2. The birtu Women Baltina network :
- Eight Bertu Baltina members took part in the Bazar and exhibition event.
- Members of the BERTU Baltina spent 120,000 Birr . in processing of the Baltina products
=based on the commonly developed standards and to be packaged using the Birtu
branded labels that reflect the unique value propositions of the members Baltina
products as compared to other competitors in the Hawassa market.
- During the bazaar , the Birtu members sold 101,00o birr of the commonly produced abd
packged baltina products, with the promotional price setted with 10% mark up on total
cost of the processing and packaging.
- In addition to the generated sales of 81000 birr , dot also covered the giveaway of
sample Birtu branded –Baltina products
(Mitmita ,Berbere ,Miten Shero)
,distributed to the audiences and visitors of
the Exhibition ,with the total cost of
20000.00 birr , Cover the cost of packing for
a total of 7,320 Birr.
- Furthermore, DOT also covered the cost of
the Birtu Baltina Network promotion
brochure and banners helped to promote
the products their common brand –‘’Birtu Baltina’’
Success case study:
- According to mariam , who is the chair person of Birtu Baltina – the members of Birtu
and other Exhibition and bazaar participants to have benefited from the generated sales

----- that reaches over 100000 birr in the fifteen days . Being membership in BWBN ,
enabled us to develop –standards for the Baltina products and marketed using the
Birtu baltina packaging as a common brand.
Background of the WBN In BAHIRDAR:
As part of the EBG2: planned and accomplished key project activities , during the elapsed
fiscal year , focuses in areas of promotion and development of Women Business Networks
,in Bahirdar - the pilot Women business networking project –began with Desk level review
of the WBN outputs and outcomes since the launch of the pilot WBN project in 2018.
 Such Desk level review coupled with the field level assessment undertaken by the DOT
engaged consultant : identified the only active WBN – called Enat Guada Women Baltina
Network , which was established with the support of DOT Ethiopia , by the 79 women
entrepreneurs,
 The pilot project mainly targeted to strengthen EGWBN, ( support other WEs groups to
be networked), so that members overcome their commonly faced business challenges
and tap business opportunities as a result of cooperation and joint actions.
A) Situation Assessment of EGWBN – The consultant conducted SA of EGWBN ,that
revealed basic facts and key issues hampering the members and leaders from realizing
the desired positive changes and goals. The basic profile and Situation of EGWBN –
during the SA in early June 2021 and in the previous quarters
 Enat Guada Women Baltina Network is among the DOT supported Women business
network ,established by 79 WEs s operating in the traditional foods and spices
processing and marketing in the city of Bahirdar.
 The EG –WBN ,, was legally registered as private limited company –with the paid
capital of birr ,249000.00 .
 The main objective of the EG_WBN aims at addressing the members marketing
premise problem through securing the plot and construction of Marketing facility at
the main market –in the center of Bahirdar. alth
 since the official registration of the EGWBN – despite all-out effort of the elected
leaders and commitment of the members in regularly contribute and raise the total
paid up capital to birr 1,9 million ,deposited in the CBE A/c created and managed by
the elected committee., the city administrating and concerned municipality offices,
did not arranged and allotted the plot –as such, failure to secure and proceed in
construction of the marketing facility by most members discouraged them and
started pushing to dissolve the EG WBN.

 The consultant also conducted =Diagnostic and Value chain assessment of the
baltina cluster of Bahirdar –with a particular focus on the position of thousands of
Women baltina producers and other value chain actors in the BCB.
Recommended actions :
- Based on the SA –analysis , the consultant forwarded –the need to revise the objectives
and also develop short ,medium and long term goals and strategies .
 The need to incorporate other joint activities –that enable EGWBN members overcome
commonly faced challenges and tap business opportunities beyond the capacity of
individual members.
 The need to allow establishment of SHGs with in EGWBN and equal opportunities
should be given to all members and SHGs also should be encouraged to jointly perform
some activities …, such issues should be disused, including the need to amend the other
missing objectives of EGWBN : such as joint purchase of raw material , common
branding , joint promotion and marketing and developing quality and safety standards
for common baltina products and spices. .
 The need to consider re-registering the EGWBN ., through studying suitable legal entity
options ,( partnerships with limited liability or cooperative society .
Performed activities in the previous quarter:
 Based on the recommendations , DOT assigned BDS officer in Bahirdar and leaders of
EGWBN network , made their level best to implement the planned short term action
plans ,
 A task force –working group comprising of the various development organizations was
set up and duties and responsibilities was worked out and discussed.
 The leaders of EGWBN , network and members involved in the SA and DS as well as on
various meetings held , convinced the rest of Enat Guada members –to continue joint
activities’ –based the identified common problems and possible solutions incorporated in
the DSR .and recommended in the EGWBN SA report,
Accomplished Women Business network project plans
Workshop Standardization of Baltina Workshop
Based on the short term action plan ,following the DS-and SA of EnaT Guada WBN , a two days
workshop aimed at developing standards for commonly produced baltina foods and spices – on
13 and 14th march 2022.) in bahrdar at palm palace hotel , Bahirdar.

Objectives: The main objectives of the standardization of Baltina foods and spices Workshop
aims at : assisting members of EGBN , to enable members – address quality ,taste and other
inconsistencies of at least five common Baltina food ingredients and spices
Participants : seven leaders and members of EG , the project team , the consultant and
participant from bahirdar university actively participated , Finally, participants set common
standards including cost structure.
Outputs. Activities performed in 2 days w/shop: during the 2 days, : : The proportion of
basic ingredients and additives like salt and spices was step by step , process common
standards –developed for five Baltina products of EGWBN. ,
 Each of the Common baltina products – of WEs –had wide differences in terms of Basic
ingredients and complementary inputs mixed /quintal. As a result of the two days
workshop , the participants addressed the differences and come up with common recipe
for each of the common baltina products,
 Furthermore, the participants also worked out costs of the inputs
and processing and other services , Production cost of the newly
developed common recipe was also worked out : baltina products
RM cost/ quintal , including costs of processing and packaging of
the common baltina products was worked out by the participants
 The two days workshop was concluded : after discussion on the
way such important outputs are translated in to practical actions
,inparticular, the leaders and members attended on the workshop , promised to share
the outputs of the workshop , continue to incorporate the inputs and comments of the
rest of members in the EGWBN and promised to proceed in to developing trail
production –through joint purchase of the raw material. The workshop was concluded,
after discussion on the way the short term action plans are executed and the members
start receiving services of EGWBN.
EGWBN –general Assembly
As promised during the Baltina standardization workshop , the leaders of EG, with the support
of DOT assigned officer, organized a ahalf day meeting –by informing all members of EG –to
participate on the agendas set for GA meeting held in Bahirdar. During the GA meeting about
41 members of Enat guada WBN was attended and according the bylaw, the leaders after,
ensuring the minimum level of members –presence ,proceed on discussions on agendas of the
GA –meeting :
Objectives . agendas discussed and agreement reached on the below points.:
- To brief the EGWBN performance and financial report: : the leaders indicated that at
present the total share capital of EGWBN in CBE Ac is 1,9 million and the interest earned .
- The DOT support –and so far performed activities by the leaders and members such as :DS-
conducted and short term action plan developed ,

- The standardization of Baltina products Workshop – its objective and outputs : and
Members interest to adopt the standards and perform the EGWBN – joint activities and
realize the desired goals –
- Members –who are not interested to continue as member :etc ,,no participant –was found
and finaly , the GA was concluded to continue implementing the short term action plan –
developed with support of DOT Ethiopial.
Market assessment of major agricultural inputs was conducted
During the reporting quarter, based on the request of the leaders and members in the
conducted Workshops and meetings, the assigned focal person together with BDS officer in
Bahirdar –conducted the market assessment and submitted the assessment report ,.According
to the compiled assessment report::
Objectives of the assessment
The general objective of the market assessment is to create the market linkages between the
Baltina raw materials/inputs wholesalers/suppliers and the Enat Guada Baltina Producers
Network.
Specifically, the assessment objective is to identify quality Baltina inputs with low and
affordable selling prices in order to produce better quality Baltina products and services to their
customers.
Scope of the study :Due to time and other constraints, the scope of the study focused on the
main input producer areas (Zigem, Liben, Adet, and Fogera woredas). And in terms of cereal

""Celebrating Women in Business " The wib event is one such activity , but used to achieve other wee related objectives and goals. This is because , celebration wib that involve conducting and holding a series of events such as media campaigns, workshops, exhibitions and promotional activities . “’objective of wib event’’ The planned and organized wib event has multiple aims and goals , include: dot implements wib event as a way of delivering a number of women economic empowerment workshops and scale up services including creating networking and experience sharing platform as the wib event – demands over 3 month long pre-event activities , workshops, on the top of these objectives, the wib event is also implemented in collaboration with local partners and stakeholders with the aim of :  To recognize and appreciate the potentials and achievements of women entrepreneurs, including those with disabilities, in generating employment and incomes . Showcasing of women entrepreneurs as role models .  Promoting the role of women's entrepreneurship development (wed). In national development ,  Renewing the commitment of stakeholders towards the promotion of women's entrepreneurship development.  Giving women entrepreneurs an opportunity to advocate and lobby in issues that are relevant to them. 1.1. Pre-WIB Event activities : A) Planning and coordination of the WIB Event Recognizing the importance of ""Celebrating Women in Business " event and the need to accomplish several pre-event activities in collaboration with local partners and stakeholders ,in line with the above objectives and goals. The DOT Management , assigned , coordinating team (a short term consultant and Gender Officer ) to coordinate the WIB event in consultation of the Program manager . The Coordinating team , started with Drafting the WIB –Event plan and creating common understanding among the BDS team ,about the objectives and target set for the WIB event, The draft WIB event and bazaar action plan , discussed and finalized .The Coordinating team – developed a guideline and shared with a view to create common understanding among the BDS team and partners. B) Capacity building and awareness creation ; One of the important –outcomes of the coordination and planning of the WIB event : having interactive discussions including briefing of the objectives and various preliminary tasks to be performed as well as how to integrate the relevant EBG planned activities and how and why– partnerships has to be established and on the way available development resources are optimized and number of WEs reached maximized.

[Apr- Mar 2022]–Annual Report | Entrepreneurship and Business Growth in Ethiopia 4 (organizing and conducting the WIB celebration and corresponding pre and post activities has three stages or phases and takes more than 3-5 months.) Such participatory pre-WIB event coordination and planning approach enabled the BDS team in the regions accomplish the pre- Event tasks and managed to organize the WIB Even in very short period of time, Prior to the WIB event , the below pre-event tasks were performed by the BDS team in thee regions (Hawassa ,AA, and Bahirdar) ; Include  Theme of WIB celebration : The BDS centers also accomplished a number of pre-event plans : in parallel , the coordinating team finalized the promotional strategies and tools As Such - the theme of the Event, was consultatively formulated in both Amharic and English ‘’  Theme –for the WIB Event ‘’ሴሴሴሴ ሴሴሴሴ ሴሴሴሴ ሴሴሴ .. / (‘’women empowerment –for sustainable development ‘’),  Partners –identified and a general understanding was reached to collaborate in the implantation of WIB Event and Exhibition , MOUs signed after identified new and existing Partners , such as FeMMSIPA, in AA and WEA in Hawassa ) ,  Budget :Detailed Action plan and Budget for the WIB event was also compiled and submitted ,  Promotional Materials :The contents of WIB event promotional materials brochures. Banners,, flyers, Give away was prepared and procured centrally at DOT CO .T-Shirt ,Cap and Giveaways that publicize DOT’s WEE initiatives and achievements and create marketing and promotional opportunities for members of Women Business Networks .  Location: The WIB Event and Bazaar , required logistics and services was determined and venders contracted .  Venue and logistics for the WIB celebration was also arranged in partnership with DOT’s Local partners (IN Addis Ababa –with FeMSSIPA , in Hawassa with WEA and other sponsors.  Date of WIB event, specific Agendas and time frame of the WIB celebration was scheduled , o Key note from DOT country director in AA and invited representatives of partners o speakers and moderating team , o interviews and panel discussions with o WEs with inspiring stories and session for motivational speakers  Audiences of WIB celebration : identified and notified through invitation letters and phone calls .  Medias from FM ,TV and publishing were invited , the celebration of WIB and the WIB –Bazaar and other DOT”s WEE initiatives in Ethiopia  Exhibition/Bazaar program – Duration in Addis Ababa was for seven days and in Hawassa for 15 days , as the WIB celebration was intentionally fixed at the EVE of Easter and EID, to create – Marketing and sales opportunities for WEs ,  Targeting / selection of WEs –in the DOT and partners-organized bazaar and Basic exhibition skills courses also offered for WEs applied for Exhibition participation .

Pre-WIB Event Workshops In Addis Ababa and Hawassa 2.1. Exhibition Skills ,Mini-trade show Workshops in Addis Ababa Prior to the WIB event and Bazaar , both BDS centers ( AA and Hawasa ) Conducted tailor made basic Exhibition and bazaar participation skills for small business owners including a mini tradeshow -exhibition exercise and soft skills training was organized to equip the Women entrepreneurs with basic Exhibition and bazaar participation skills. 2.1.1. Basic Exhibition skills –training in Addis Ababa The DOT BDS center conducted – Basic Exhibition Skills –training was conducted and mini – booth for Women Entrepreneurs on April 11,2022 at MARCEN hotel ,Addis Ababa. 53 WEs participated acquired basic Exhibition skills on the workshop. Contents of the Exhibition short course in the workshop: focuses on the below agendas: During the training sessions ,DOT engaged trainers –began with ice breaker sessions , gathering participants prior experience and exposure and their expectations from the training session;  The objectives of the workshop –aims at equipping the WEs participants with basic Exhibition skills steps , process that an entrepreneur should follow and perform :  Contents of the training focuses :  Before the Exhibition /bazaar , o - choosing the right event , o planning and budgeting o conducting market research and o know who customers and visitors and their interest o know your competitors o Develop unique value proposition o promotional materials o booking and make everything ready  During the Exhibition /bazaar : o Welcome visitors, show your products , o Brief about your business and where you operate o Listen issues and questions raised from visitors o Respond the questions –in brief , o Record the name ,business address and their interest in the note book including contacts o Give business card and flyers and giveaways – o Sale products , provide packaging , issues receipt o Summarize the daily performed activities etc o Keep the booth clean and attractive , o When the customers and visitors flow is low , o Visit the exhibitors booths and network with other business owners  Post exhibition activities and actions : o Follow up on orders and potential buyers , o Deliver secured orders. o Arrange meeting with potential suppliers o Visit the distribution agents and institutional visited your booth o Establish business partnership o Evaluate the overall Exhibition performance ,benefits and costs o Plan for better performance in the next event.

Pre- WIB Mini -exhibition : in AA - The Basic Exhibition skills –course was accompanied by Mini-tradeshow , as was instructed during invitation , the 53 WEs targeted for the WIB -Exhibition were informed to come and display their sample products and promotional materials , - Following the theoretical session, DOT trainers , Management and BDS officers – visited the WEs products and promotional tools displayed at Marcen Hotel , 2.1.3. immediate outcomes of the Exhibition Skills and Mini show Workshop - As was planned , except few WEs , Most of the targeted WEs for the upcoming Exhibition displayed their products and promotional materials , further to the theoretical session , the trainers and BDS officers visited the mini show and constructive feedbacks was given to the WEs to make available : the listed out important inputs like , business cards, brochure, banner. Record keeping books , Sales receipt and their license and TIN etc - The pre-Exhibition training and the mini show : according post training feedbacks , most participants indicated to have acquired new lessons from the DOT delivered BDS short courses and practical sessions. - The Mini trade show and the training session, according to participants feedbackew : to learn new business skills and created better understanding about the objectives of the Exhibition and Bazaar participation, - As most of the WEs sponsored to participate in the WIB-Exhibition are new and with no prior experiences, the Mini show enabled DOT BDS team –to verify commitment and readiness of the targeted WEs to participate on the WIB event - feedbacks forwarded from the trainees also was positive and as they express their satisfaction on the new information and skills acquired from the Workshop - The training also boosted confidence of new participants with no prior exhibition and bazaar experience, the participants equipped with basic theoretical knowhow and practical exposure as a result of the mini show. - For DOT BDS team in AA, such pre-exhibition activities and trainings helped to check commitment and readiness of the targeted WEs to participate on the DOT sponsored WIB –Exhibition. - The Mini show and the training sessions also to share WEs experiences and establish linkages for mutual benefiting ventures as well. 2.2. Pre- Exhibition Skills Workshop –In hawassa In Hawassa, the BDS team organized a one day Basic Exhibition Skills and modern marketing management practices for 70 WEs sponsored to participate on the WIB- Exhibition and Bazaar. The training content and topics covered and discussed are :  Basic Business and Marketing Management skills  customer handling for business success  Benefits of Exhibition and bazaar participation ,  Traditional VS modern marketing practices  Promotional tools and Techniques for better access to market 2.3. Immediate outcomes :in Hawassa The 70 WEs ,after the conducted training session, expressed their happiness , indicated to have learnt important aspects to be ready and promote their products and Business on the upcoming WIB Exhibition, - Furthermore, most participants , based on lessons learnt in DOT’s prior training sessions , they already started implementing modern marketing and promotional activities and promised to make all out efforts in practically implementing the new skills they learnt from the Exhibtion skills workshop. - The training has also provided an opportunity for businesswomen to improve their attitude through information sharing and creating linkages with other Women coming from different Enterprises. And also the training participants got a chance to share their business experiences with each other. 3. The WIB –Celebration in Hawassa 3.1. WIB Event celebrations in Hawassa The planned WIB –Even was celebrated with the theme of ‘’ሴሴሴሴ ሴሴሴሴ ሴሴሴሴ ሴሴሴ .. / (‘’women empowerment –for sustainable development ‘’), was held.on April 4th 2022. in Hawassa. The WIB Event-Bazaar was organized by DOT and its partners (WEA-Hawassa and WEDP) , during the opening ceremony of WIB celebration , about 100 invited guests drawn from partners, WEs and public support organizations attended and celebrated the WIB Event. WIB celebration participants The WIB celebration audiences were about 100 people from various business sectors and stakeholders. To mention few of the majour partner organizations attended on the WIB celebration:Representatives of - Sidama Regional State Trade and Development bureau - Sidama Regional State Child and Women bureau, - Hawassa City Administration Office, - Hawassa City Trade and Development bureau - Hawassa City Child and Women Affair - Timret Women Business Association, - WEDP - Medias SNNPR and Sidam TV and FM radioss Opening ceremony : - The WIB Event was officially opened by the. WEDP and WEA- representatives and after delivered speech from the Hawassa City , officials drawn from the city administration /

Banners,, flyers, displayed and distributed to the audiences to publicize DOT’s WEE initiatives and achievements and create marketing and promotional opportunities for members of Women Business Networks . - Give aways: he audiences were also provided with the T-shirt/ cap and the newly developed Birtu Branded samples of newly developed Baltina products , packed with the Birtu branded packaging by Birtu Women Baltina Network together with Common promotional flyer of Birtu WBN –established with support and technical assistance from DOT and WEA ,) - Finally ,the WIB ceremony was concluded ,following the speeches delivered and discussions held that appreciate the contribution of WEs in the country’s economic development, the Exhibition was officially inaugurated and run for fifteen consecutive days . - The WIB celebration was also covered by SNNPR and Sidama Region TVs and FM radios. 4. Exhibition and Bazar Event The WIB Bazar and exhibition was organized by DOT and its local partners (WEA_timret and WEDP) . immediately after concluding the WIB celebration – DOT facilitators invited the participants to visit the Bazzar Market Shades and ask participants for feedback. Participants remarked that it was an excellent opportunity to advertise their businesses and receive visibility while also forming a network.Duration of the Bazaar /Exhibition was fifteen days (4th April to 16th April 2022) in the center of Hawassa city , 4.1. Participants : Exhibitors (WEs ) A total of 70 WEs belongs two WBNs and 54 members of the WEA-hawassa, of the 70 WEs, 16 of the Women are belongs to the two WBNs supported by DOT WBN . - BERTU BALTINA have 8 members ( 4 of the members resigned when the members and leaders started contribution for joint purchase of raw materials , - Neser women's food and processing network also has 8 members - The costs of the 30 booths )tent rented and other chairs and tables were coverd by DOT and its local partners WEDP and WEA- Timret. - Although ,performances and outcomes of the WIB Event and Exhibition was not conducted and compiled in this report , the Exhibition and bazaar benefited the WEs in many aspects :

[Apr- Mar 2022]–Annual Report | Entrepreneurship and Business Growth in Ethiopia 4 During the various pre-WIB event training and other preliminary meetings , the WEs aqiured new skills and lessons that helped them in strategically think and explore opportunities that allow them to expand their business , During the WIB exhibition – in addition to generated sales , the event created opportunities to establish linkages with potential customers , secure orders and establish business partnerships with suppliers and service providers. The Exhibition also helped the WEs to exchange experiences , get constructive feedbacks from customers to improve their products and services  participants in the Business exhibition and bazaar have been able to sell their products and services, network with other participants, and promote their products and services to clients.  It also assists them in evaluating their business and know the market side informations and demands,  First time Exhibition participants : experienced the various issues that they have to address in the future :includes –products demanded and what customers needs and the need to customize the products to suit the tastes and other parameters of customers.  Participants are generally pleased, and they recommend that dot have another bazaar display for them and other women entrepreneurs. Moreover, other government and partner organizations come to see what dot is doing and offer to collaborate with it in the future. 4.2. The birtu Women Baltina network : - Eight Bertu Baltina members took part in the Bazar and exhibition event. - Members of the BERTU Baltina spent 120,000 Birr . in processing of the Baltina products =based on the commonly developed standards and to be packaged using the Birtu branded labels that reflect the unique value propositions of the members Baltina products as compared to other competitors in the Hawassa market. - During the bazaar , the Birtu members sold 101,00o birr of the commonly produced abd packged baltina products, with the promotional price setted with 10% mark up on total cost of the processing and packaging. - In addition to the generated sales of 81000 birr , dot also covered the giveaway of sample Birtu branded –Baltina products (Mitmita ,Berbere ,Miten Shero) ,distributed to the audiences and visitors of the Exhibition ,with the total cost of 20000.00 birr , Cover the cost of packing for a total of 7,320 Birr. - Furthermore, DOT also covered the cost of the Birtu Baltina Network promotion brochure and banners helped to promote the products their common brand –‘’Birtu Baltina’’ Success case study: - According to mariam , who is the chair person of Birtu Baltina – the members of Birtu and other Exhibition and bazaar participants to have benefited from the generated sales

Being membership in BWBN , enabled us to develop –standards for the Baltina products and marketed using the Birtu baltina packaging as a common brand. Background of the WBN In BAHIRDAR: As part of the EBG2: planned and accomplished key project activities , during the elapsed fiscal year , focuses in areas of promotion and development of Women Business Networks ,in Bahirdar - the pilot Women business networking project –began with Desk level review of the WBN outputs and outcomes since the launch of the pilot WBN project in 2018.  Such Desk level review coupled with the field level assessment undertaken by the DOT engaged consultant : identified the only active WBN – called Enat Guada Women Baltina Network , which was established with the support of DOT Ethiopia , by the 79 women entrepreneurs,  The pilot project mainly targeted to strengthen EGWBN, ( support other WEs groups to be networked), so that members overcome their commonly faced business challenges and tap business opportunities as a result of cooperation and joint actions. A) Situation Assessment of EGWBN – The consultant conducted SA of EGWBN ,that revealed basic facts and key issues hampering the members and leaders from realizing the desired positive changes and goals. The basic profile and Situation of EGWBN – during the SA in early June 2021 and in the previous quarters  Enat Guada Women Baltina Network is among the DOT supported Women business network ,established by 79 WEs s operating in the traditional foods and spices processing and marketing in the city of Bahirdar.  The EG –WBN ,, was legally registered as private limited company –with the paid capital of birr ,249000.00 .  The main objective of the EG_WBN aims at addressing the members marketing premise problem through securing the plot and construction of Marketing facility at the main market –in the center of Bahirdar. alth  since the official registration of the EGWBN – despite all-out effort of the elected leaders and commitment of the members in regularly contribute and raise the total paid up capital to birr 1,9 million ,deposited in the CBE A/c created and managed by the elected committee., the city administrating and concerned municipality offices, did not arranged and allotted the plot –as such, failure to secure and proceed in construction of the marketing facility by most members discouraged them and started pushing to dissolve the EG WBN.

[Apr- Mar 2022]–Annual Report | Entrepreneurship and Business Growth in Ethiopia 6  The consultant also conducted =Diagnostic and Value chain assessment of the baltina cluster of Bahirdar –with a particular focus on the position of thousands of Women baltina producers and other value chain actors in the BCB. Recommended actions : - Based on the SA –analysis , the consultant forwarded –the need to revise the objectives and also develop short ,medium and long term goals and strategies .  The need to incorporate other joint activities –that enable EGWBN members overcome commonly faced challenges and tap business opportunities beyond the capacity of individual members.  The need to allow establishment of SHGs with in EGWBN and equal opportunities should be given to all members and SHGs also should be encouraged to jointly perform some activities …, such issues should be disused, including the need to amend the other missing objectives of EGWBN : such as joint purchase of raw material , common branding , joint promotion and marketing and developing quality and safety standards for common baltina products and spices. .  The need to consider re-registering the EGWBN ., through studying suitable legal entity options ,( partnerships with limited liability or cooperative society . Performed activities in the previous quarter:  Based on the recommendations , DOT assigned BDS officer in Bahirdar and leaders of EGWBN network , made their level best to implement the planned short term action plans ,  A task force –working group comprising of the various development organizations was set up and duties and responsibilities was worked out and discussed.  The leaders of EGWBN , network and members involved in the SA and DS as well as on various meetings held , convinced the rest of Enat Guada members –to continue joint activities’ –based the identified common problems and possible solutions incorporated in the DSR .and recommended in the EGWBN SA report, Accomplished Women Business network project plans Workshop Standardization of Baltina Workshop Based on the short term action plan ,following the DS-and SA of EnaT Guada WBN , a two days workshop aimed at developing standards for commonly produced baltina foods and spices – on 13 and 14th march 2022.) in bahrdar at palm palace hotel , Bahirdar.

[Apr- Mar 2022]–Annual Report | Entrepreneurship and Business Growth in Ethiopia 7 Objectives: The main objectives of the standardization of Baltina foods and spices Workshop aims at : assisting members of EGBN , to enable members – address quality ,taste and other inconsistencies of at least five common Baltina food ingredients and spices Participants : seven leaders and members of EG , the project team , the consultant and participant from bahirdar university actively participated , Finally, participants set common standards including cost structure. Outputs. Activities performed in 2 days w/shop: during the 2 days, : : The proportion of basic ingredients and additives like salt and spices was step by step , process common standards –developed for five Baltina products of EGWBN. ,  Each of the Common baltina products – of WEs –had wide differences in terms of Basic ingredients and complementary inputs mixed /quintal. As a result of the two days workshop , the participants addressed the differences and come up with common recipe for each of the common baltina products,  Furthermore, the participants also worked out costs of the inputs and processing and other services , Production cost of the newly developed common recipe was also worked out : baltina products RM cost/ quintal , including costs of processing and packaging of the common baltina products was worked out by the participants  The two days workshop was concluded : after discussion on the way such important outputs are translated in to practical actions ,inparticular, the leaders and members attended on the workshop , promised to share the outputs of the workshop , continue to incorporate the inputs and comments of the rest of members in the EGWBN and promised to proceed in to developing trail production –through joint purchase of the raw material. The workshop was concluded, after discussion on the way the short term action plans are executed and the members start receiving services of EGWBN. EGWBN –general Assembly As promised during the Baltina standardization workshop , the leaders of EG, with the support of DOT assigned officer, organized a ahalf day meeting –by informing all members of EG –to participate on the agendas set for GA meeting held in Bahirdar. During the GA meeting about 41 members of Enat guada WBN was attended and according the bylaw, the leaders after, ensuring the minimum level of members –presence ,proceed on discussions on agendas of the GA –meeting : Objectives . agendas discussed and agreement reached on the below points.: - To brief the EGWBN performance and financial report: : the leaders indicated that at present the total share capital of EGWBN in CBE Ac is 1,9 million and the interest earned . - The DOT support –and so far performed activities by the leaders and members such as :DS- conducted and short term action plan developed ,

Market assessment of major agricultural inputs was conducted During the reporting quarter, based on the request of the leaders and members in the conducted Workshops and meetings, the assigned focal person together with BDS officer in Bahirdar –conducted the market assessment and submitted the assessment report ,.According to the compiled assessment report:: Objectives of the assessment The general objective of the market assessment is to create the market linkages between the Baltina raw materials/inputs wholesalers/suppliers and the Enat Guada Baltina Producers Network. Specifically, the assessment objective is to identify quality Baltina inputs with low and affordable selling prices in order to produce better quality Baltina products and services to their customers. Scope of the study :Due to time and other constraints, the scope of the study focused on the main input producer areas (Zigem, Liben, Adet, and Fogera woredas). And in terms of cereal inputs or products, this assessment has focused on the red pepper, oat, field pea, chickpea, and Guaya (Grass Pea).The details of the Market study –can be seen the report document in annex 1
