Welcome to the SUPERbrand 2016 surfboard line!
We’re SUPER excited to share with you what we consider to be our best and most
comprehensive work to date in both technical design and creativity. The surfboard
art for this season is nothing short of radical, and features work by our talented
in-house creative team as well as curated contributions by world-renowned artists
Sketchy Tank, John Antoski, Plate Lunch, Tyler Spangler, and Noa Emberson,
Not just easy on the eyes, the 2016 surfboard collection is our most innovative and
all encompassing to date—a board for every condition if you will.
Along with slight updates to demanded legacy models like the Toy and Vapors,
we’ve added the Vapors//GT, Fling//GT, and PigDog//S submodels. With these new
and improved designs, we’re providing an enhanced and varied experience with
some of your favorite and trusted SUPERbrand designs.
2016 also marks the reissue of two of our favorite models from past collections—
the ‘Burnside,’ and ‘Slug.’ Designed by our main man in Australia—Adam “Sparrow”
Fletcher—the Burnside and Burnside//X feature all new technical advancements
that will leave you ecstatic when the waves turn on. The Slug was a cult classic back
in the day while Dion Agius was filming for surf flicks 0000 and Modern Collective,
and the all-new incarnation will please anyone who wants to go fast, slash, and do
big airs (which we assume is just about everyone).
We know you’re as excited as we are, and we look forward to hearing about your
experiences with this collection—now go shred!
Cheers,
The SUPERbrand Shapers’ Collective

WHO’S SHAPING YOUR SURFBOARD?
U.S.A, Hawaii, Australia, Europe, Brazil
SUPERbrand’s Shapers’ Collective is a team of shapers and designers
collaborating to produce the most innovative surfboards with and for the most
progressive surfers on the planet. Regionally specialized shapers in nearly
every region of the world provide the SUPERbrand team and customers a wide
variety of shortboards. Why? It all comes from a desire to share knowledge
and ideas for the greater good of our team and customers. Shapers all over
the world collaborate with SUPERbrand team riders and customers, offering
the variety and regional expertise that’s so important to surfboard riding. In
other words, shapers with rich and extensive board-building backgrounds
create boards in your area and know the waves and conditions you surf. The
Shapers’ Collective comes together and rallies around a common goal. The
shapers of the Collective bounce concepts around, constantly one-upping
each other in the race to make a better shortboard.
SUPERPREMIUM PU
Elevating Classic Board Building Techniques
The best materials are picked, including hand selected premium blanks and only the
clearest, brightest resins. Premium S Glass is used, a fiberglass that’s 25% stronger
than normal glass per layer.
SUPERflex
Game Changing Feel, Developed by SUPERbrand
Using a lively stringer-less EPS core wrapped with 4 different types of reinforcements
going 6 different directions, so that the flex and strength is engineered into the surface
of the board. The result is a consistent feel tip to tail, rail to rail and allows the board to
flex naturally with the contours of the wave and in response to applied pressure from the
surfer, all while creating a spring back feeling when coming out of turns.
SUPERECO EPS
More than just "Earth Friendly"
Featuring a lively EPS core with a wood surfboard stringer for traditional surfboard
responsiveness, epoxy resin, and 3 different fiberglass reinforcements going in 4
directions for more flex and strength than traditional eps constructions. The unique
layering of materials provides pop and a really responsive shortboard.

concave and a bit more tail kick to increase the performance level in all conditions without
sacrificing any of the ease of use. The Toy is a great board for intermediate surfers looking
to step up their shred game or for advanced surfers looking for shorter/wider shortboard.

quick adjustments in the pocket. The Vapors//GT gives versatility and performance
everywhere you need it.

DION AGIUS’ SIAMESE PALM VIPER (SPV)
Concerned about having too many shapes to ride—some for airs, some for turns—
Dion Agius sought a simple solution. After working closely with Dion on testing and
developing, the final SPV is the best of both worlds: while remaining smooth and
clean for turns and rail work, it won’t hold you back while blasting airs. *2014 SIMA

“I’ve been surfing since I was in elementary school and worked at a surf shop
for about seven years through high school and college. As far as my art, I love
mixing old images with modern techniques — I think it makes you question the
nature of technology and how it affects the world. Seeing my art on a surfboard is
amazing. I remember having to use a paint pen on my surfboards as a kid, which
was fun, but also limiting. Nowadays, the fact that you can have photographic
images and the ability to create anything on Photoshop is just incredible. It
definitely beats the past where you only saw lame beer company surfboards
hanging in restaurants. I also think bright art on surfboards looks amazing in the
water—surfing is fast and wild and I think the board should reflect that.” — Tyler

“Growing up in the Canadian Rocky Mountains introduced me to standing up and
going sideways fast. I moved out to Southern California and it seemed like a good
fit to try it in the water. How hard could it really be? Harder than I thought. The
inspiration behind my work is taking opposite ideas of region and cultures and
juxtaposing them, like how the West Coast Native Americans would use totems
to recount cultural stories, celebrate legends, and record clan lineages. It’s
amazing to see your art on an object that is used for creative expression in the
physical sense—and I would like to imagine taking my new board out to some
amazing break on Bali, but it will be more like somewhere closer to the office,
like Beacons.” – John

“I’ve been the art director at Surfing Magazine for the past few years now, so I’d say
that’s my biggest connection to surfing. I also recently moved back to Oahu — it’s
hard not to be connected there. My design process is a lot like cooking—gathering
the right ingredients that will “taste” well together takes the most time. Then I
combine them until I have something on screen that I’m happy with. Taste. Add
salt. Taste again. You get it. With this graphic I used that same process and I feel
like it was tasting great by the end there. I’m super excited to see my work on a
surfboard and apparel. So much of the work I do ends up on a printed page or as
a t-shirt graphic so this will be one of the most tangible and large scale forms my
design has ever taken on.” — Noa

“My dad was a big surfer — he’s from Huntington Beach and worked for
Surfing Magazine for years as a staff photographer. When I was about eight he
started taking me on surf trips with him to Hawaii, Costa Rica, and Mexico. I
remember meeting Tom Curren in 1990 on the North Shore of Oahu—my dad
was obsessed with his surfing and style so I naturally thought he was a god.
As far as my art, 80s skateboard graphics and traditional tattoos are my
biggest inspirations. This collaboration is a trip; surf art is traditionally very
peaceful and soft but I like creating stuff more dark in nature. As for the board
itself, I got a step up so I have to find somewhere that holds some swell but
is kind of soft…like me!” — Sketchy Tank

  • 2. 2016 SURFBOARD COLLECTION 2016 SURFBOARD COLLECTION 2 3 SURFBOARDS & APPAREL The World Is SUPER SUPERbrand HQ 2777 Loker Avenue West, Suite 140 | Carlsbad, CA 92010 Phone: +1.760.444.9095 Email: info@superbranded.com superbranded.com @super_brand facebook.com/SUPERbrand Welcome to the SUPERbrand 2016 surfboard line! We’re SUPER excited to share with you what we consider to be our best and most comprehensive work to date in both technical design and creativity. The surfboard art for this season is nothing short of radical, and features work by our talented in-house creative team as well as curated contributions by world-renowned artists Sketchy Tank, John Antoski, Plate Lunch, Tyler Spangler, and Noa Emberson, Not just easy on the eyes, the 2016 surfboard collection is our most innovative and all encompassing to date—a board for every condition if you will. Along with slight updates to demanded legacy models like the Toy and Vapors, we’ve added the Vapors//GT, Fling//GT, and PigDog//S submodels. With these new and improved designs, we’re providing an enhanced and varied experience with some of your favorite and trusted SUPERbrand designs. 2016 also marks the reissue of two of our favorite models from past collections— the ‘Burnside,’ and ‘Slug.’ Designed by our main man in Australia—Adam “Sparrow” Fletcher—the Burnside and Burnside//X feature all new technical advancements that will leave you ecstatic when the waves turn on. The Slug was a cult classic back in the day while Dion Agius was filming for surf flicks 0000 and Modern Collective, and the all-new incarnation will please anyone who wants to go fast, slash, and do big airs (which we assume is just about everyone). We know you’re as excited as we are, and we look forward to hearing about your experiences with this collection—now go shred! Cheers, The SUPERbrand Shapers’ Collective
  • 3. 2016 SURFBOARD COLLECTION 2016 SURFBOARD COLLECTION 4 5 WHO’S SHAPING YOUR SURFBOARD? U.S.A, Hawaii, Australia, Europe, Brazil SUPERbrand’s Shapers’ Collective is a team of shapers and designers collaborating to produce the most innovative surfboards with and for the most progressive surfers on the planet. Regionally specialized shapers in nearly every region of the world provide the SUPERbrand team and customers a wide variety of shortboards. Why? It all comes from a desire to share knowledge and ideas for the greater good of our team and customers. Shapers all over the world collaborate with SUPERbrand team riders and customers, offering the variety and regional expertise that’s so important to surfboard riding. In other words, shapers with rich and extensive board-building backgrounds create boards in your area and know the waves and conditions you surf. The Shapers’ Collective comes together and rallies around a common goal. The shapers of the Collective bounce concepts around, constantly one-upping each other in the race to make a better shortboard. SUPERPREMIUM PU Elevating Classic Board Building Techniques The best materials are picked, including hand selected premium blanks and only the clearest, brightest resins. Premium S Glass is used, a fiberglass that’s 25% stronger than normal glass per layer. SUPERflex Game Changing Feel, Developed by SUPERbrand Using a lively stringer-less EPS core wrapped with 4 different types of reinforcements going 6 different directions, so that the flex and strength is engineered into the surface of the board. The result is a consistent feel tip to tail, rail to rail and allows the board to flex naturally with the contours of the wave and in response to applied pressure from the surfer, all while creating a spring back feeling when coming out of turns. SUPERECO EPS More than just "Earth Friendly" Featuring a lively EPS core with a wood surfboard stringer for traditional surfboard responsiveness, epoxy resin, and 3 different fiberglass reinforcements going in 4 directions for more flex and strength than traditional eps constructions. The unique layering of materials provides pop and a really responsive shortboard. OUR MATERIALS The Best Ingrediants + The Best Technologies = The Best Boards

  • 23. 2016 SURFBOARD COLLECTION 2016 SURFBOARD COLLECTION 44 45 Tyler Spangler The Burnside Pacific Palisades, CA Instagram: @tyler_spangler www.tylerspangler.com “I’ve been surfing since I was in elementary school and worked at a surf shop for about seven years through high school and college. As far as my art, I love mixing old images with modern techniques — I think it makes you question the nature of technology and how it affects the world. Seeing my art on a surfboard is amazing. I remember having to use a paint pen on my surfboards as a kid, which was fun, but also limiting. Nowadays, the fact that you can have photographic images and the ability to create anything on Photoshop is just incredible. It definitely beats the past where you only saw lame beer company surfboards hanging in restaurants. I also think bright art on surfboards looks amazing in the water—surfing is fast and wild and I think the board should reflect that.” — Tyler John Antoski The Unit Encinitas, CA Instagram: @johnantoski www.johnantoski.com “Growing up in the Canadian Rocky Mountains introduced me to standing up and going sideways fast. I moved out to Southern California and it seemed like a good fit to try it in the water. How hard could it really be? Harder than I thought. The inspiration behind my work is taking opposite ideas of region and cultures and juxtaposing them, like how the West Coast Native Americans would use totems to recount cultural stories, celebrate legends, and record clan lineages. It’s amazing to see your art on an object that is used for creative expression in the physical sense—and I would like to imagine taking my new board out to some amazing break on Bali, but it will be more like somewhere closer to the office, like Beacons.” – John
  • 24. 2016 SURFBOARD COLLECTION 2016 SURFBOARD COLLECTION 46 47 Noa Emberson The Vapors Honolulu, Oahu Instagram: @joystain www.joystain.com “I’ve been the art director at Surfing Magazine for the past few years now, so I’d say that’s my biggest connection to surfing. I also recently moved back to Oahu — it’s hard not to be connected there. My design process is a lot like cooking—gathering the right ingredients that will “taste” well together takes the most time. Then I combine them until I have something on screen that I’m happy with. Taste. Add salt. Taste again. You get it. With this graphic I used that same process and I feel like it was tasting great by the end there. I’m super excited to see my work on a surfboard and apparel. So much of the work I do ends up on a printed page or as a t-shirt graphic so this will be one of the most tangible and large scale forms my design has ever taken on.” — Noa Sketchy Tank The PigDog Encinitas, CA Instagram: @sketchy_tank www.sketchytank.com “My dad was a big surfer — he’s from Huntington Beach and worked for Surfing Magazine for years as a staff photographer. When I was about eight he started taking me on surf trips with him to Hawaii, Costa Rica, and Mexico. I remember meeting Tom Curren in 1990 on the North Shore of Oahu—my dad was obsessed with his surfing and style so I naturally thought he was a god. As far as my art, 80s skateboard graphics and traditional tattoos are my biggest inspirations. This collaboration is a trip; surf art is traditionally very peaceful and soft but I like creating stuff more dark in nature. As for the board itself, I got a step up so I have to find somewhere that holds some swell but is kind of soft…like me!” — Sketchy Tank
