MICRO-OVEN
FINAL PROTOTYPE
The Micro-Oven is a compact
microwavable unit, designed to cook
healthy meals in a matter of minutes.
The radiation shielded cooking areas are
guaranteed to preserve nutrition lost while
microwaving
The Grill:
The microwave heats up the outer surface
grill plate. The heat is then conducted
evenly throughout the rest of the plate.
The Steamer:
The microwave boils the water in the base.
The steam travels up through the holes in the
bottom of the steamer cooking the food within.
Steam is realeased from the
holes in the lid as well as the seam
between the grill and the steamer.

How can I create a simple educational toy that
can be cheaply and quickly manufactured
on a small or large scale?
INITIAL IDEATION
SKETCHING & PROTOTYPING
3D printed pieces used to test
shape, size and feasibility.
Honeycomb filler created
strength while reducing the weight.
HEX
FINAL PROTOTYPE
Small neodymium
magnets to hold the
pieces firmly to the board.
Hex is the ideal toy for all ages.
HEX was designed to encourage artistic expression while hinting at the underlining
mathematical principles that allow the geometric pieces to create
their interesting patterns.
SENIOR THESIS
DURATION : 1 SEMESTER
How can the I replicate the Vert Skateboarding
experience without the use of a Skatepark or DIY?
Vert Skateboarding relies on the use of
ramps or other inclines in which the athlete
transitions between the horizontal and
vertical plane.
EMULATING THE SPORT
TRICKS AND FEEL
The most iconic aspect of Vert is the weightless
feeling experienced during air time. As well as a
diverse arsenal of tricks which include an
array of flip and grab tricks such as the Kickflip,
Pop Shuvit, Benihana, and Air Walk.

This is John, he is 48 years old
and lives in California. He has a
wife and two kids. He is an avid
outdoorsman and loves to surf.
John wishes he had an at home
alternative for the days that the
waves are low.
This is Nadia, she is 19 years old
and lives in Colorado. She loves to
rock climb and stay active.

Stabilizing Line
Downstem
Carabiner
This design allows for one handed grabs,
while still maintaining body position
true to the sport.
The HANGBOARD M1 allows for
rotation along the horizontal plane.
allowing for tricks like the iconic
Pop Shuv-it.
MAINTAINING A GRIP
HANDLEBAR DESIGN
Riders holding the bars with their
forearms turned in, provided
longer endurance while swinging.
CUSTOM BARS
PROTOTYPE DESIGN
The straight bar provided a more
inline grip, This lowers the forces
acting on the riders muscles while
attempting one handed tricks.
The soft rubber provides a
nonslip grip even under hot
and sweaty conditions.
KICKFLIP ROTATION
SKETCHING & IDEATION
PROOF OF CONCEPT
PROTOTYPE M2
Major issues occurred in the
stabilization of the connecting rod.
The added weight needed to balance the
board made riding difficult.
For the next prototype my goal was to
decrease weight and reduce the gap
between the two halves of the board.
DECK DESIGN
SHAPE & GRAPHICS
ATTACHING TO THE TREE
ANCHOR SYSTEM & STORAGE
The chest ascender allows for easy
				 setup and takedown.
The Anchor strap protects the tree and downline
from wear and tear providing greater durability and
a longer product life.
ANCHOR SYSTEM
PROOF OF CONCEPT
The padded strap acts as
protection for the anchor
strap as well as the tree.
The chest ascender helps the
user easily position the height
of the board off the ground.
The saftey loop acts as
redundent protection in
case of ascender failure.
CAD OF THE FINAL
PROTOTYPE M3
The new design uses the
skateboard’s own weight to
balance itself out. No more use
for extra counterbalances.
EXPLODED VIEW
The ultra thin Downstem allows the board to spin while
still remaining close enough to grab the middle of the
deck.
The removable deck allows
for easy customization and
replacement of the parts
PROOF OF CONCEPT
FINAL PROTOTYPE M3
Weaving the rope through
the downstem creats optimal
left to right stability.
The grip tape creates a perfect
non-slip surface for riding.
The deck is held to the mounting plate with
nuts and bolts on either side
Since the mounting plate sits flush with the surface of the
board the profile was able to be kept thin, and the board’s
own weight keeps it right side when resting
The woven handlebar
design makes adjusting
the height fast and easy
Padded rubber grips provide
protection and comfort for
the riders hands.
Rider is able to kick the board
around in a Kickflip motion.
As well as reach with one hand in
order to achieve a number of
different grabs.
