State Funding for ISO
I hear everyday about how expensive ISO certification and
maintenance is to the client. And I have to say I agree, it is
unfortunate that the client has to pay for all the ISO expense. We
have the Accreditation Body sitting on top of this ISO pyramid and
then we have the Certifying Bodies, that have to pay for the right to
be able to conduct audits and then we have the clients that have to
pay for the right to be audited. And this never-ending circle
continues EVERY YEAR!!
Fortunately there is a little bit of relief… The state of California has
the ETP program that will offset the cost the cost of ISO
certification and maintenance. In most cases it will offset the
certification cost up to 85% and the maintenance cost up to 100%.
This program allows clients the confidence that there certification
will remain in positive status. With these funds you can outsource
the implementation and maintenance of the ISO system to a
qualified trainer/consultant and you do not have to pay internal staff
to tackle a task that they are not too familiar with. In the long run it
will save the client a lot of money. If you keep the ISO
certification/maintenance in house, it is my experience it will take a
really long time mainly because the employee does not conduct
ISO certification/maintenance on a daily basis, but yet
management thinks it will save the company money. Utilizing the
funding and outsourcing the certification/implementation will always
be the less expensive and most expedited solution. Outsourcing it
will typically keep your out of pocket expense to less than
$3,500.00 and start to finished the project will be complete in less
than 3-months.
