1. Gāliņciems Library was founded in
1954 and is a part of Ventpils City

(www.biblioteka.ventspils.lv) It is a
small library with around
15 000 of books.

incommon?
In the end of summer 2022
Galiņciems is moving to a new
building (from 89 m2 to 600 m2)
and transforming into a public
centre with a wider range of
services

NI University Library "St. Climent Ohridski" -
Bitola is composed of two functionally
connected objects that form one whole. It is
formed in 1945, and the new bilding is formed
in 1978.It is modern cultural institution with a
book fund of about 600,000 books and
numerous magazines, with a tendency for
permanent increase. Today, the Library strives
to become a real virtual library.

Differences?
We all work in a different type of library, so
the type of library, users, services are the
biggest difference in itself.
Galinciems library and NI University Library
"St. Climent Ohridski" are both public
libraries and they aren’t anymore just places
where you can only get a book, but it is a
place which organise different cultural
events for kids and adults, exhibitions, social
events etc. It is a place where to meet and
where to be.

Our library lend books,magazines,newspapers,
professional papers to the readers and the
users, we also make workshops with children
from schools, kindergarten and students, and
a lot of projects that are funded by the
Ministry of culture. We also catalog books in
the cobiss program,which is program that all
balkan countries use it.

project? We got new acquaintances around the world.
Experience exchange about how it is to be a
librarian in other countries.
We have learned a lot about other libraries in
the world, we have differences and a lot of
similarities between our libraries
