In the International Librarians' Networking Program, Trina Schuster, from
Auckland, New Zealand, and Diana Price, from Alexandria, Virginia, came
together to discuss ways both of their library systems are promoting
sustainability and sustainable communities.

Overview: Alexandria Library has 4 circulation branches, as well as a Local History
branch and Law Library.

Goal: To create a sustainable community by supporting all Alexandrians,
including underserved populations, such newcomers and those in
poverty.
Initiative: ConnectED, a partnership with the public school system to
ensure every student has a library card.
Goal: To promote sustainability through programs, local partnerships,
including with other City agencies, and sustainable practices within the
functioning of the library.
