WHAT IS THE INNOVATION COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE?
• The Innovation CoP is compiled of a team of passionate innovators who would like to inspire other IQers about
Innovation and teach them important innovative skills. We develop and support Process Innovation’s Product and
Service Design offering.
• Product and Service Design is the process of efficient and effective idea generation and development with the goal of
creating new products and services that meet business’ strategic goals and objectives plus satisfy customer
expectations.
• At IQbusiness we aim to instil a culture of Design Thinking to enable our colleagues and clients to think differently about
the problem at hand and identify the optimal solution for the problems they face. As Tim Brown from IDEO famously
said; “Design Thinking is a human-centered approach to innovation that draws from the designer’s toolkit to integrate the
needs of people, the possibilities of technology, and the requirements for business success.”
• Businesses are faced with new technologies and increased competition every day, as well as increasing diversity among
customers which leads to increased demand for personalised, holistic solutions. Effective Product and Service Design
allows businesses to adapt to these changing conditions and Design Thinking allows for effective Product and Service
Design by identifying the actual need and facilitating development of solutions that satisfy the real need identified.
Amongst others we employ Design Thinking and Jobs-to-be-done as primary methods to structure product and service
innovation and design activities.
• Through our methods we aim to improve the innovativeness of solutions identified through engagement with Customers
and collaboration with a diverse team, avoiding incremental improvements. Design Thinking gives business a structured
and repeatable approach to innovation .

WHAT ACTIVITIES DOES THE INNOVATION COMMUNITY OFFER?
• The team provides public courses throughout the year, and can also provide private training
programmes, on-the-job coaching and post-training support to clients. The Product and Service
Innovation training programme encompasses theoretical and practical training in human-centred
innovation concepts. The programme offers complementary courses that provide innovation methods
and techniques to address a variety of situations.
• Amongst others we employ Design Thinking and Jobs-to-be-done as primary methods to structure
product and service innovation and design activities. Through our methods we aim to improve the
innovativeness of solutions identified through engagement with Customers and collaboration with a
diverse team, avoiding incremental improvements. Design Thinking allows for a structured and
repeatable approach to innovation that is not too rigid and is adaptable to almost any business
environment.
• In addition, we facilitate CoI sessions annually in which we share knowledge and skills that allow our
fellow IQers to practically experience the innovation methods and techniques we employ. Our two
most recent CoIs allowed IQers to physically prototype their idea whilst teaching them different
creative thinking techniques and demonstrating the nature of the design thinking process.
