This would keep the level of conversation respectful without my mother looking at me in a certain type of way. What is similar is the fact that my
mother and I can still have a conversation about sex. My parents on the other hand is very open and will answer whatever questions that me or my
children may have, but she will keep the entire conversation private. That is where I learned to keep my activity in a private setting.
Society Conversation According to Dr. Brenda L. McCaa–Buckley 2011 lecture, Haroian (2000) explained that society will view human sexuality
either positive or negative. Some may feel that in speaking out in the open is a good thing, while others believe things should be kept to
themselves. In speaking with my same sex peers, I use different working when it comes to the private parts of males and females. For example, I
would say something like "this guy looks like he has a huge dick", or "my coochie is for me to chose who to give it to", and in speaking of sex in
general it would be "I can't wait to be knocking boots tonight". But in speaking like that is all fun and jokes. The terms would change based on whom
I am speaking with. For those that is not that close, I would use the terms such as male and female genitalia, and use the word intercourse when
speaking of sex. Then when you listen to the younger generation asking if their friends

Gender and Human Sexuality
Gender and human sexuality has major importance in lives. This can determine whether a person is healthy or not; not only physically but mentally as
well. Also, having a certain gender can change the way feelings are obtain their own character. It is about finding yourself within the gender given and
personal human sexuality. Gender can determine actions made by either a male or female called it gender norms. The human sexuality could be defined
as thoughts, fantasies, morals, relationship, and attitudes. This must be handled with care because every actions has its consequences affecting
psychologically, social, economically, and cultural morals/values. Both gender and human sexuality may differ even the education, cultural, family
values and morals, or religion beliefs. In the following information, these topics will discussed: studying human sexuality, sex and gender, sexual
behavior, sex rights, gender and human sexuality history, sex problems and diseases, and psychology engages. One of the first questions that most
individuals ask after a baby is delivered is whether the child is a male or female. What would life be seen as if there were no divisions according to
maleness or femaleness? Could that determine a person's career plans or relationships? The previous questions reflect the importance of sex and
gender in lives. (Huffman, 2012.) Gender expression refers to all of the external characteristics and behaviors that are socially defined as either
masculine or

There are various perspective on human sexuality. As seen throughout time, human sexuality has taken several routes and has brought about a different
perspective and beliefs on human sexuality. This difference is associated with the consequences man received during the Fall. The definition of
authentic sexuality is viewed in several ways through a spectrum that includes theological perspective and contemporary society's perspective. These
perspective have affected one's current perspective and beliefs that are perverted. It has veered from God's original intention on authentic human
sexuality, which is described in several books of the Bible. Since there is a difference in understanding and view on human sexuality, it has affected
one's daily life, and especially Christian professionals, who are in the psychology and counseling field.
The word "authentic" is often defined as something that is real and genuine. An authentic view of sexuality should be in accordance to God's view
on sexuality. God reiterates in several sections of the Bible that humans are beautifully and wonderfully made in His image (Psalms 139:14, ESV).
Humans have been created in God's image. When one is able to recognize that we, humans, are created in God's image, viewing sexuality in everyday
life is seen through God's lenses. Viewing in God's perspective governs one's beliefs or self and others, and also the view on marriage, love, and even
sex. Therefore, authentic sexuality brings the "authenticity

Essay about Human Sexuality
We are born, we are named. We die, we are named. Be it the name of a new child or the title given to a hero who gives their life for the sake of
many, a name is a sacred thing within our world. A name is a mark that follows us, identifies us, and lets us state our place in the world. Humans name
everything we come in contact with – corporal or incorporeal. Every substance, action, or emotion has a name. Every state of being is labeled and
defined. For centuries this powerful ability to give a name has been used in a variety of ways, some almost sacrilegious to the nearly spiritual act of
defining yourself. We have branded, ostracized, and dehumanized using labels as a tool to discriminate against those who do not fall within our own neat

In 1948, Kinsey's study identified 1.5% of the male population in America as asexual ( category X), and in 2004 Anthony Bogaert's "Asexuality:
Prevalence and Associated Factors in National Probability Sample," suggests that 1% of the British population that participated in his study
self–identified asexual (Bogaert 279). This data suggests that ––with Earth's current population being somewhere within the seven billions–– there are
roughly 70,000,000–105,000,000 asexuals around the world ("Population Clock"). Within this astonishingly large population there is also significant
diversity.
Despite feeling no sexual attraction, asexuals often label themselves as either "romantic" or "a–romantic". These terms come into play when dealing
with romantic orientation – the counterpart of sexual orientation. Current research suggests that the parts of the brain that control sexual attraction and
romantic affection, or lust and love, are controlled by two parts of the brain that are separate, despite the overlap in systems that they affect (Cacioppo
et al. 2012). This belief has come to be widely accepted, and based on this data some have concluded that romantic and sexual attraction do not have to
be coincide with each other (Bogeart 2012). Many activists and some research scientists now suggest that each

The Ethics Of Human Sexuality
Human Sexuality provided the introduction to the required skill set for the counseling profession not as a specialty, but as an avenue to self–reflect
upon the learning of new concepts and ideas, gathered from sex researchers. Recognizing the impact of societal beliefs concerning the gender
socialization process helps us understand bits and pieces of human sexuality. It is important to also understand attitudes, worldview, ethical
considerations and prejudices as we process the topic of human sexuality factors. Most importantly, is how we relate to the core issue about the topic in
its totality, with ourselves and our clients as professionals. This self–reflection outlines both intra and extra personal growth experience over the 71
/2–week period.
Questionnaire
The initial introduction of the course involved self–directed Trueblood Sexual Attitudes Questionnaire (TSAQ) (Trueblood, Hannon, & Hall, 1998). I
took the test initially based on my own assessment of gender roles/identity, sexual orientation, and social norms associated with sexuality. The second
assessment changed slightly as my generalized understanding of the content of various topics concerning sexuality. The change had to do with
perspective. Specifically, how couples use external sexual visualizations to enhance pleasure. My belief and knowledge gained from the concept of
sexual wellness underscores the whole idea of mutual respect for one's personal life. Knowledge concerning sexuality, I suspect is a

If the opportunity for me to explore the realm of bi–sexual experiences presents itself, I am wiling to now take the chance and experience it for myself.
I may find a part of myself that was lost during those rapes. For me, I have learned a lot of lessons in the sexual realm of human nature and some
have been helpful while others were not. I chose rape as my topic for this paper, merely because I am a victim/survivor. When I look back at those
moments and allow the feelings to resurface I find that there was no love only sexual satisfaction for those that were performing the act. I have
tried to understand why this could have happened to me, could I have prevented it from happening, did I do something that created the emotions
to stir within these men. I only come up with the fact that I was an innocent and they were the ones in control of the actions they were performing.
It has taken several years for me to understand that I was not responsible for these actions and they have been a major part of my life as an adult.
Many of these feelings have caused me to create relationships that were not healthy and were endangering my life. Others were just fillers for the
feeling of love that I was looking for with no real insight of what love truly was. As more of the fact became known to me and that I was not the
responsible party I looked for a way to confront my Sexuality attackers. My Dad, being a major player in these acts was the

The 8 Components Of Human Sexuality
There are 8 components to human sexuality. The first component to human sexuality is sexual thoughts or fantasies. An example of this is imagining
of chaining someone down to have sex with them. This thought or fantasy is sexual and considered a "kinky" fantasy. Sexual self concept or how
you perceive and feel about your body, sex, and your role as a sexual partner is another component. For example, if you feel overweight, you may see
yourself as an unfit sexual partner and feel to ashamed to have sex. This is not always the situation but shows how sexual self concept is important
when it comes to human sexuality. Sexual values or specifically moral values about sex. Having sex before you're married fits into the absolutism
part about this component. Absolutism is your moral values based on laws, values passed down from generations, culture, and especially religion.
Relativism is another example of sexual values specifically pertaining to casual sex between two single people. Hedonism is more like a "one night
stand" because it is done because it will give a person instant gratification. The fourth component is emotions. One example of this is the difference
between "making love" and just having sex. Making love is meant to be more intimate and make sex more pleasurable due to the emotional attachment.
The fifth component behaviors which is sexual activity. One example is only giving/receiving oral sex in order to preserve virginity. Anatomy and
Physiology is the component

Analysis and comparison of the sexual response cycle and the concept of sexual normality
Professionals need to be able to discuss sexual functioning, sexual normality and dysfunction with the client. It is important to know about the sexual
response cycle, sexual dysfunction problems, gender and cultural issues concerning sexuality. The sexual response cycle helps highlight where sexual
dysfunction may occur. In contrast, sexual normality is also represented on this cycle as a positive validation of one's anticipation which therefore
crystallizes one's experience leading to further positive anticipation (Sewell, 2005).The response cycle starts in the arousal or excitement phase but it
would be most useful to consider a desire phase that goes before the arousal or the excitement phase. During the desire phase, physiological sexual
arousal is not of primary importance. The sexual response cycle is characterized by physiological and psychological shifts. Psychologically, there is an
increase in erotic thoughts (the specific content of which is highly individualized) and a heightened awareness of pleasure sensations from erogenous
body zones. With increasing physiological arousal, there is a narrowing of attention such that focal cues are processed intensely whereas non–focal cues
are less likely than usual even to be noticed. Physically, the heart rate increases as well as respiration which

Human Sexuality Sexuality is something that seems to dominate a lot of the world we live in. It's in our schools, at work, and especially in the
mass media. The way your body develops and the way you feel and respond to others sexually creates your sexuality ("Sexuality and Sexual
Orientation", Youthoria). It can shape and affect people's lives as well as our own. Sexuality can be influenced by culture, religion, media, friends and
experiences. Some people are very sexual, while others experience no sexual attraction at all. Sexuality has always been treated as taboo and some
people are uncomfortable talking about it so they avoid it. For this reason sexuality can produce confusion, anxiety and fear. Sexuality includes much
more than just sex. It includes anatomy, biological sex, gender, sexual orientation, relationships, and sexual behaviors ("Sex and Sexuality", Planned
Parenthood). Applying the sociological approaches will give us a better understanding of human sexuality.
Now that we have some insight on what sexuality is, we can apply the sociological perspectives. Starting with the structural functional theory, this
theory argues that society consists of interrelated parts that work together to promote social order, unity, and balance. The structural–functional
paradigm can be broken down by other type on functions: manifest functions, latent functions, and dysfunctions. The manifest functions regulates with

Human Sexuality Analysis
I came into Human Sexuality a giggling, prudish virgin. I'm leaving it... well, a giggling virgin, but no longer a prudish one. In this class, I've grown
exponentially, even if I still blush when I say "penis."
At the beginning of the semester, I thought Human Sexuality was just a high school sex education class (but hopefully a little spicier). This thought
process was confirmed for me when I opened my textbook to the middle, and I was immediately greeted by couples engaging in intercourse (quite
frankly). However, on day one, I learned that I was dead wrong. Human Sexuality isn't just about "bumping uglies;" it's about our attitudes toward
sexuality, our behaviors, and ourselves. It's about embracing ourselves as human beings and being honest about the things that society has told us is
"taboo" to speak about, so we can all be safer, healthier, and happier.
The course was set up in a way that was really beneficial to me, as an awkward freshman with not a lot of background in sexuality. We started from
the ground (I still remember the first day, when we yelled out slang for penis for a good ten minutes), and we worked our way up, step by step, in a
way that we could all keep up with. I never felt overwhelmed by the information given to me, but I was thoughtful, and I was given plenty of time to
chew on what I'd learned, whether that was with homework...show more content...
Sexual identity and sensuality always made sense as part of sexuality to me, but I never considered intimacy (as it relates to risk taking,
self–disclosure, and trust), sexualization, and sexual health as part of it, really. Some of this could be due to the fact that I'm gay, so I've never
really had to worry about preventing contraception, but STIs, risky behaviors, and sexual harassment (just a few examples, from many) are still part
of my world. Now that I know what's involved in healthy sexuality, I know what to watch for as I go

Much has been made of the role of human sexuality, yet little has been said about the importance of learning about human sexuality. Sex has been the
same since time began, and we cannot continue to ignore the reality of what children are being exposed to. Being educated about these topics, being
educated, in general is important to me. Education is what will help this world with inequalities, and so many other problems. Human sexuality has
become one of the topics that have caught my attention because no matter who you ask to express their views on sexuality the answer will inevitably
be different. This topic always leads to huge opinions that are one–sided. Creating this online course would help people around the world learn about
human sexuality, and learn about the person they have placed below them because of their sexuality. Sexuality education provides opportunities for
students to develop media literacy skills which are essential to help children and young people understand, interpret, and evaluate media messages and
imagery related to sexuality, relationships and gender.
Many factors affect people 's views on sexuality; people 's age, gender, environment, and other things affect their views on sexuality and how they
express their sexuality. In this online course, students will be able to discover that sexuality is everywhere and it is lifelong. My parents didn't believe
in talking about sexuality in my house, I learned through classmates. Learning through classmates

Human Sexuality And Its Impact On Society
Depending on what era, what culture and even where you are from, human sexuality can mean different things. In essence there really is only a
perspective on what sexuality means;
"Human sexuality refers to the ways in which we experience and express ourselves as sexual beings. Our awareness of ourselves as females or males is
part of our sexuality, as is the capacity we have for erotic experiences and responses. Our knowledge of the gender roles in our culture also has a
profound influence on us." (Rathus, 2014)
Our views on sexuality are different around the world. With each perspective comes a different approach to not just the idea of sex, but also the idea
of who we are as people. From the past to the present those ideas have changed and in some cases evolved into something else.
Ancient Greeks
The ancient Greeks viewed people as bisexual. Same sex relationships were normal providing it did not interfere with family. While male–male
relationships were seen as okay, an older male taking on an adolescent male as a lover was also acceptable. The older male was usually married and
this behavior does not affect the future of the adolescent with male–female relationships. With men seemingly being able to enjoy themselves as they
saw fit, women on the other hand were treated as property. Subject to the oldest male next of kin before being married and then their husbands once
married. They stayed in their quarters at home and received no education.

Reflection On Human Sexuality
This class was, potentially, the most enlightening out of any of our classes this semester. I tend to think about myself as incredibly open–minded and
well–rounded when it comes to understanding the different aspects of human sexuality, but this class showed me how little I truly know. Listening to
this class's guest speakers illuminated me to the depth of the BDSM community that I had previously been blind to. While I had known some about
BDSM from simply a fetish/paraphilia/technical standpoint, I wasn't aware that it also denoted such a rich community. I suppose that I could have
expected that BDSM would have it's own community, but, since it is outside of my realm of sexuality, I was simplistic in the way that I understood
BDSM as only a fetish. My simplistic thinking is made worse when I consider the fact that one of my closest friends was a professional submissive
for a few years prior to coming to Reno, but I never asked many questions because I felt that it would be too personal or would show potential holes in
my knowledge. This is why I am so glad that we had guest speakers for this topic in class. When I was reading this chapter in the Lehmiller book, I
found it to be informative on a baseline knowledge level, but it definitely lost a lot of the depth and complexity of the fetishes and paraphilia
themselves, and particularly the people that practice these aspects of sexuality. Having a guest speaker come in allows for the other students, as well
as myself, to

Human Sexuality And Its Effect On Society

Introduction
Human sexuality is defined as the capability of individuals to experience their sexuality and be able to express themselves as sexual beings (Hyde &
DeLameck, 2006). Our interest in this topic is because with time, there has been a change in rules that control human sexual behaviour. The status quo
in our contemporary society is much different as compared to an earlier state of conditions, and the change has, as a result, brought the evolvement in
human sexuality. People 's view on virginity has changed greatly with a decrease of importance in regards to its preservation. Sexuality is essential to
the economic, cultural, social and political organization of society or country. Our sexuality plays a fundamental role in all our lives regardless of
age, sex or race. It forms a basic part of our personality and the decisions we make in what we do. One's sexuality also consumes much of their time
through behaviour or thoughts; at times every aspect of our lives seems to revolve around our sexuality. Studying sexuality is very important since
human sexuality majorly contributes to social as well as personal problems. A lingering question concerning this topic is to what extent is virginity
determined by the status quo and the rules that control human behaviour?
As virginity among young women has been perceived as being more valued than virginity among young men, the importance given to it is something
that has been constructed

Why Human Sexuality is Important
Human sexuality plans a major role in everyone's life whether you are a man, women, young or old, African American, Caucasian, or Chinese.
Sexuality is an integral part of being human. Love, affection, and sexual intimacy contribute to healthy relationships and an individual's well–being. I
define human sexuality as a way in which we experience and express ourselves as sexual beings. Being aware of one's sexuality is important as it
helps let you know who you are as a person. There also are illnesses, mixed emotions and unintended consequences that can affect our sexual health
when addressing ones sexuality. An open discussion of sexual issues is important so it brings awareness to...show more content...

Human Sexuality By Ludwin Molina Spring, 1999 Introduction Human sexuality plays a major role in everyone's life. Regardless, whether we are
young or old, man or woman, American or Japanese, it is an integral part of what we do and who we are. There has been much done by way of
research and scholarly writing examining human sexuality (e.g., Abramson & Pinkerton, 1995; Beach, 1976; Diamond, 1997; Reinisch et al., 1990;
Stalcup, 1995; Tiefer, 1995). This paper will explore the topic of human sexuality as a motivation. Of course, there are many emotions associated with
human sexuality, but the primary aim of this particular paper will be a general overview of sexuality with special attention to the various perspectives,

In other words, the participants' behavior may consciously be changed to "fit" with what they believe the observer is seeking. Human Sexual Response
(1966) by William Masters and Virginia Johnson is one of the seminal studies examining the sexual behavior of humans via the observation method.
Despite the controversy engendered by the method of their study, it gave a reliable picture of what happens to the body during sexual behavior.
Experimental Method. Experiments permit researchers to draw causal conclusions between the independent variable and dependent variable. One
example of this method is exposing participants to sexually arousing materials while instruments monitor physiological responses (Katchadourian,
1989). The particular limitations of this study seem obvious, in that, one cannot manipulate many variables of interest directly because of ethical
standards. Correlational Method. Allows the researcher to examine the relationship between variables of interest. For example, a researcher may be
interested in the variables that relate to sexual satisfaction in couples. Therefore, he/she may look at the variables of partner compatibility,
communication skills, and number of years the couple has been together. The major limitation of this method is that correlation does not equal
causation. Case Study Method. The intensive study of one particular participant. A vast amount of

Just as other interpersonal themes, sexual themes in film are often depictions of sexual themes that exist in real life relationships. For this very reason,
it is very easy for a person to compare his relationships with that of a relationship shown in media or film. Some relationships are total train wrecks
from the start while others are not necessarily ideal, but healthy. Although not seen very often, ideal couples in film are attributed with characteristics
that are seen by society as desirable; youthful, attractive people who are hyper–sexual and affectionate. As clichГ© as it sounds, sometimes
relationships are simply "complicated". Such is the case in the film It's Complicated.

When Jane and Jake meet up to attend their son's graduation, the two begin to have an affair. At the same time, she begins to fall inlove with another
man that she is seeing. Not knowing what she wants, Jane must decide whether she wants to rekindle her relationship with her ex or move on to the
newer man in her life.
There are a few human sexuality themes that I noticed in this film. The first and most obvious theme that I noticed is how the film goes against the
stereotypes that media places of sexuality and age. At often times, younger people are seen to have vibrant sexual relationship. The thing that I
can admire about this film is that it shows sex between older people. Most people have misconceptions that when people achieve a certain age,
they no longer have sex. This stereotype is not true. People who are in their 50's and up can still have very healthy active sex lives. This stereotype
was something that the characters in the film seemed to struggle with. Both Jane and Jake were trying to fight the aging to seem more physically
attractive. For example, Jane considered getting a facelift to compete with her ex's young wife. Jane also seemed to be very influenced by her
friend's ideas on love and sex; their perspective seemed to alter her perspective. In the beginning, she was very conflicted in expressing her sexuality.
She dealt with this struggle by succumbing to what they believed she needed to do in her own sex life.
The second theme that I recognized

Throughout the ages, our society has documented homosexuality. Within our culture, homosexuality has been largely condemned. In looking at the
historical perspective of homosexuality, the responses were different with each society that was dealing with it. The Greeks were okay with it due to
their belief that some of their mythical gods were engaging in homosexual behavior. Christianity denounced those sexual associations and made their
belief and intentions clear that this behavior was not to continue. The legal system became intertwined with the Christian belief that homosexuality was
sinful and would punish inappropriate sex acts as criminal offenses (Rathus, Nevid, & Fichner–Rathus, 2005).

Even at such a young age, I knew I was attracted to females, even before perspectives on "normal" or gay relationships were drilled into my mind by
society. What is not to love about the female body?
The primary issue I have with all of the perspectives covered in textbooks is that they all operate from the premise that something is amiss or wrong
within the individual that leads to the individual becoming gay. This view, that something went wrong to make an individual gay, undoubtedly makes
it incredibly difficult for a gay individual to admit, live openly, and adequately adjust to being gay. Perhaps there are biological, psychological,
societal, and other aspects that may influence an individual's sexual preference, but perhaps the real fallacy exists in the belief that God created the
gay individual to be anything other than who and what he or she is. The real issue should not by what went wrong that caused an individual to be gay,
but why is the gay individual not afforded the same rights that the heterosexual takes for granted every day.
In conclusion, homosexuality is gaining acceptance, or at least better than it once was fifty years ago. Homosexuals are gaining more rights and they
do not have to hide themselves the way they use to in fear of rejection or shame. Nonetheless, there is more distance to go in the striving for full

Reflection Paper On Human Sexuality
Reflective Paper #2
Considering the amount of sexuality that is displayed in the Western culture via television, radio, social media, advertising, et cetera, it is
surprising that sex is still considered taboo by the majority of the United States population. Heflick (2011) asserts that "Our primal, animal
sexuality ignites fears of our own mortality [and] only when it is embedded in a uniquely human context, like love and romance, is this not the
case" as a reason for this construct. Perhaps because sexuality is so dominantly pervasive in our society is the very reason it remains taboo and
consequently not spoken about openly within the family unit as it should be. Or maybe sexuality goes unspoken as means of deterring youths from
participating in sexual behaviors. In any case, as parents, as church elders, as members of a civilized society, or as counselors, speaking about sex
and sexuality generally and about the response cycle and/or sexual reproductive anatomy specifically should be a proactive stance taken by all. The
human body is nothing to be ashamed of nor is the manner in which we procreate and display love and affection towards our significant other
something to be hidden away. On the contrary, human sexuality is God–given and should be cherished as well as valued. The importance of counselors
being well–versed in the area of the response cycle and/or sexual reproductive anatomy is due to the many problems that can arise from either
miscommunications or no communication at all about these subjects in relationships. When a counselor is able to speak candidly and
straightforwardly with their client(s) about sex and the biological processes involved with sexuality the chance of improving the client(s) sex life
drastically improves which in turn can alleviate undue stressors within the relationship.
My parents never had the "Birds and the Bees" talk with me, never had "a series of small conversations spread out over many years" (Weston,
2006), nor did I have sex education in school. My entire knowledge base about sex and sexuality is derived from every other conceivable source. This
may explain why I consider my comfort level for talking with clients about the response cycle and/or sexual

This would keep the level of conversation respectful without my mother looking at me in a certain type of way. What is similar is the fact that my mother and I can still have a conversation about sex. My parents on the other hand is very open and will answer whatever questions that me or my children may have, but she will keep the entire conversation private. That is where I learned to keep my activity in a private setting. Society Conversation According to Dr. Brenda L. McCaa–Buckley 2011 lecture, Haroian (2000) explained that society will view human sexuality either positive or negative. Some may feel that in speaking out in the open is a good thing, while others believe things should be kept to themselves. In speaking with my same sex peers, I use different working when it comes to the private parts of males and females. For example, I would say something like "this guy looks like he has a huge dick", or "my coochie is for me to chose who to give it to", and in speaking of sex in general it would be "I can't wait to be knocking boots tonight". But in speaking like that is all fun and jokes. The terms would change based on whom

  • 3. Gender and Human Sexuality Gender and human sexuality has major importance in lives. This can determine whether a person is healthy or not; not only physically but mentally as well. Also, having a certain gender can change the way feelings are obtain their own character. It is about finding yourself within the gender given and personal human sexuality. Gender can determine actions made by either a male or female called it gender norms. The human sexuality could be defined as thoughts, fantasies, morals, relationship, and attitudes. This must be handled with care because every actions has its consequences affecting psychologically, social, economically, and cultural morals/values. Both gender and human sexuality may differ even the education, cultural, family values and morals, or religion beliefs. In the following information, these topics will discussed: studying human sexuality, sex and gender, sexual behavior, sex rights, gender and human sexuality history, sex problems and diseases, and psychology engages. One of the first questions that most individuals ask after a baby is delivered is whether the child is a male or female. What would life be seen as if there were no divisions according to maleness or femaleness? Could that determine a person's career plans or relationships? The previous questions reflect the importance of sex and gender in lives. (Huffman, 2012.) • 4. There are various perspective on human sexuality. As seen throughout time, human sexuality has taken several routes and has brought about a different perspective and beliefs on human sexuality. This difference is associated with the consequences man received during the Fall. The definition of authentic sexuality is viewed in several ways through a spectrum that includes theological perspective and contemporary society's perspective. These perspective have affected one's current perspective and beliefs that are perverted. It has veered from God's original intention on authentic human sexuality, which is described in several books of the Bible. Since there is a difference in understanding and view on human sexuality, it has affected one's daily life, and especially Christian professionals, who are in the psychology and counseling field. The word "authentic" is often defined as something that is real and genuine. An authentic view of sexuality should be in accordance to God's view on sexuality. God reiterates in several sections of the Bible that humans are beautifully and wonderfully made in His image (Psalms 139:14, ESV). Humans have been created in God's image. When one is able to recognize that we, humans, are created in God's image, viewing sexuality in everyday life is seen through God's lenses. Viewing in God's perspective governs one's beliefs or self and others, and also the view on marriage, love, and even sex. Therefore, authentic sexuality brings the "authenticity Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay about Human Sexuality We are born, we are named. We die, we are named. Be it the name of a new child or the title given to a hero who gives their life for the sake of many, a name is a sacred thing within our world. A name is a mark that follows us, identifies us, and lets us state our place in the world. Humans name everything we come in contact with – corporal or incorporeal. Every substance, action, or emotion has a name. Every state of being is labeled and defined. For centuries this powerful ability to give a name has been used in a variety of ways, some almost sacrilegious to the nearly spiritual act of defining yourself. We have branded, ostracized, and dehumanized using labels as a tool to discriminate against those who do not fall within our own neat ...show more content... In 1948, Kinsey's study identified 1.5% of the male population in America as asexual ( category X), and in 2004 Anthony Bogaert's "Asexuality: Prevalence and Associated Factors in National Probability Sample," suggests that 1% of the British population that participated in his study self–identified asexual (Bogaert 279). This data suggests that ––with Earth's current population being somewhere within the seven billions–– there are roughly 70,000,000–105,000,000 asexuals around the world ("Population Clock"). Within this astonishingly large population there is also significant diversity. Despite feeling no sexual attraction, asexuals often label themselves as either "romantic" or "a–romantic". These terms come into play when dealing with romantic orientation – the counterpart of sexual orientation. Current research suggests that the parts of the brain that control sexual attraction and romantic affection, or lust and love, are controlled by two parts of the brain that are separate, despite the overlap in systems that they affect (Cacioppo et al. 2012). This belief has come to be widely accepted, and based on this data some have concluded that romantic and sexual attraction do not have to be coincide with each other (Bogeart 2012). Many activists and some research scientists now suggest that each Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. The Ethics Of Human Sexuality Human Sexuality provided the introduction to the required skill set for the counseling profession not as a specialty, but as an avenue to self–reflect upon the learning of new concepts and ideas, gathered from sex researchers. Recognizing the impact of societal beliefs concerning the gender socialization process helps us understand bits and pieces of human sexuality. It is important to also understand attitudes, worldview, ethical considerations and prejudices as we process the topic of human sexuality factors. Most importantly, is how we relate to the core issue about the topic in its totality, with ourselves and our clients as professionals. This self–reflection outlines both intra and extra personal growth experience over the 71 /2–week period. Questionnaire The initial introduction of the course involved self–directed Trueblood Sexual Attitudes Questionnaire (TSAQ) (Trueblood, Hannon, & Hall, 1998). I took the test initially based on my own assessment of gender roles/identity, sexual orientation, and social norms associated with sexuality. The second assessment changed slightly as my generalized understanding of the content of various topics concerning sexuality. The change had to do with perspective. Specifically, how couples use external sexual visualizations to enhance pleasure. My belief and knowledge gained from the concept of sexual wellness underscores the whole idea of mutual respect for one's personal life. Knowledge concerning sexuality, I suspect is a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

My Perspectives on Human Sexuality Sexuality My Perspectives on Human Sexuality Reba McBride Oct. 3, 2010 PSY 265 Kaiewa Masuda Sexuality This is a comprehensive look at the results of the life experiences that have molded and shaped my sexual perspectives. I have had several different things that have happened to shape my thoughts and actions inn my sexual life. Yet now that I have taken this course I have gained a new found understanding for the reactions that were part of my life. The value system that I was raised under was very strict. I was brought up in a Holiness religion, where we were not allowed to do several of the things that others were doing. If the opportunity for me to explore the realm of bi–sexual experiences presents itself, I am wiling to now take the chance and experience it for myself. I may find a part of myself that was lost during those rapes. For me, I have learned a lot of lessons in the sexual realm of human nature and some have been helpful while others were not. I chose rape as my topic for this paper, merely because I am a victim/survivor. When I look back at those moments and allow the feelings to resurface I find that there was no love only sexual satisfaction for those that were performing the act. I have tried to understand why this could have happened to me, could I have prevented it from happening, did I do something that created the emotions to stir within these men. Others were just fillers for the feeling of love that I was looking for with no real insight of what love truly was. As more of the fact became known to me and that I was not the responsible party I looked for a way to confront my Sexuality attackers. My Dad, being a major player in these acts was the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. The 8 Components Of Human Sexuality There are 8 components to human sexuality. The first component to human sexuality is sexual thoughts or fantasies. An example of this is imagining of chaining someone down to have sex with them. This thought or fantasy is sexual and considered a "kinky" fantasy. Sexual self concept or how you perceive and feel about your body, sex, and your role as a sexual partner is another component. For example, if you feel overweight, you may see yourself as an unfit sexual partner and feel to ashamed to have sex. This is not always the situation but shows how sexual self concept is important when it comes to human sexuality. Sexual values or specifically moral values about sex. Having sex before you're married fits into the absolutism part about this component. Absolutism is your moral values based on laws, values passed down from generations, culture, and especially religion. Relativism is another example of sexual values specifically pertaining to casual sex between two single people. Hedonism is more like a "one night stand" because it is done because it will give a person instant gratification. The fourth component is emotions. One example of this is the difference between "making love" and just having sex. Making love is meant to be more intimate and make sex more pleasurable due to the emotional attachment. The fifth component behaviors which is sexual activity. One example is only giving/receiving oral sex in order to preserve virginity. • 10. Analysis and comparison of the sexual response cycle and the concept of sexual normality Professionals need to be able to discuss sexual functioning, sexual normality and dysfunction with the client. It is important to know about the sexual response cycle, sexual dysfunction problems, gender and cultural issues concerning sexuality. The sexual response cycle helps highlight where sexual dysfunction may occur. In contrast, sexual normality is also represented on this cycle as a positive validation of one's anticipation which therefore crystallizes one's experience leading to further positive anticipation (Sewell, 2005).The response cycle starts in the arousal or excitement phase but it would be most useful to consider a desire phase that goes before the arousal or the excitement phase. During the desire phase, physiological sexual arousal is not of primary importance. The sexual response cycle is characterized by physiological and psychological shifts. Psychologically, there is an increase in erotic thoughts (the specific content of which is highly individualized) and a heightened awareness of pleasure sensations from erogenous body zones. With increasing physiological arousal, there is a narrowing of attention such that focal cues are processed intensely whereas non–focal cues are less likely than usual even to be noticed. Physically, the heart rate increases as well as respiration which Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Sexuality, Sexuality And Sexual Orientation Kiara Rivas Sociology 1 Due Date: 5/5/15 Human Sexuality Sexuality is something that seems to dominate a lot of the world we live in. It's in our schools, at work, and especially in the mass media. The way your body develops and the way you feel and respond to others sexually creates your sexuality ("Sexuality and Sexual Orientation", Youthoria). It can shape and affect people's lives as well as our own. Sexuality can be influenced by culture, religion, media, friends and experiences. Some people are very sexual, while others experience no sexual attraction at all. Sexuality has always been treated as taboo and some people are uncomfortable talking about it so they avoid it. For this reason sexuality can produce confusion, anxiety and fear. Sexuality includes much more than just sex. It includes anatomy, biological sex, gender, sexual orientation, relationships, and sexual behaviors ("Sex and Sexuality", Planned Parenthood). Applying the sociological approaches will give us a better understanding of human sexuality. Now that we have some insight on what sexuality is, we can apply the sociological perspectives. Starting with the structural functional theory, this theory argues that society consists of interrelated parts that work together to promote social order, unity, and balance. The structural–functional paradigm can be broken down by other type on functions: manifest functions, latent functions, and dysfunctions. The manifest functions regulates with whom your Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Human Sexuality Analysis I came into Human Sexuality a giggling, prudish virgin. I'm leaving it... well, a giggling virgin, but no longer a prudish one. In this class, I've grown exponentially, even if I still blush when I say "penis." At the beginning of the semester, I thought Human Sexuality was just a high school sex education class (but hopefully a little spicier). This thought process was confirmed for me when I opened my textbook to the middle, and I was immediately greeted by couples engaging in intercourse (quite frankly). However, on day one, I learned that I was dead wrong. Human Sexuality isn't just about "bumping uglies;" it's about our attitudes toward sexuality, our behaviors, and ourselves. It's about embracing ourselves as human beings and being honest about the things that society has told us is "taboo" to speak about, so we can all be safer, healthier, and happier. The course was set up in a way that was really beneficial to me, as an awkward freshman with not a lot of background in sexuality. We started from the ground (I still remember the first day, when we yelled out slang for penis for a good ten minutes), and we worked our way up, step by step, in a way that we could all keep up with. I never felt overwhelmed by the information given to me, but I was thoughtful, and I was given plenty of time to chew on what I'd learned, whether that was with homework...show more content... Sexual identity and sensuality always made sense as part of sexuality to me, but I never considered intimacy (as it relates to risk taking, self–disclosure, and trust), sexualization, and sexual health as part of it, really. Some of this could be due to the fact that I'm gay, so I've never really had to worry about preventing contraception, but STIs, risky behaviors, and sexual harassment (just a few examples, from many) are still part of my world. Now that I know what's involved in healthy sexuality, I know what to watch for as I go Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Much has been made of the role of human sexuality, yet little has been said about the importance of learning about human sexuality. Sex has been the same since time began, and we cannot continue to ignore the reality of what children are being exposed to. Being educated about these topics, being educated, in general is important to me. Education is what will help this world with inequalities, and so many other problems. Human sexuality has become one of the topics that have caught my attention because no matter who you ask to express their views on sexuality the answer will inevitably be different. This topic always leads to huge opinions that are one–sided. Creating this online course would help people around the world learn about human sexuality, and learn about the person they have placed below them because of their sexuality. Sexuality education provides opportunities for students to develop media literacy skills which are essential to help children and young people understand, interpret, and evaluate media messages and imagery related to sexuality, relationships and gender. Many factors affect people 's views on sexuality; people 's age, gender, environment, and other things affect their views on sexuality and how they express their sexuality. In this online course, students will be able to discover that sexuality is everywhere and it is lifelong. My parents didn't believe in talking about sexuality in my house, I learned through classmates. Learning through classmates Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Human Sexuality And Its Impact On Society Depending on what era, what culture and even where you are from, human sexuality can mean different things. In essence there really is only a perspective on what sexuality means; "Human sexuality refers to the ways in which we experience and express ourselves as sexual beings. Our awareness of ourselves as females or males is part of our sexuality, as is the capacity we have for erotic experiences and responses. Our knowledge of the gender roles in our culture also has a profound influence on us." (Rathus, 2014) Our views on sexuality are different around the world. With each perspective comes a different approach to not just the idea of sex, but also the idea of who we are as people. From the past to the present those ideas have changed and in some cases evolved into something else. Ancient Greeks The ancient Greeks viewed people as bisexual. Same sex relationships were normal providing it did not interfere with family. While male–male relationships were seen as okay, an older male taking on an adolescent male as a lover was also acceptable. The older male was usually married and this behavior does not affect the future of the adolescent with male–female relationships. With men seemingly being able to enjoy themselves as they saw fit, women on the other hand were treated as property. Subject to the oldest male next of kin before being married and then their husbands once married. They stayed in their quarters at home and received no education. • 15. Reflection On Human Sexuality This class was, potentially, the most enlightening out of any of our classes this semester. I tend to think about myself as incredibly open–minded and well–rounded when it comes to understanding the different aspects of human sexuality, but this class showed me how little I truly know. Listening to this class's guest speakers illuminated me to the depth of the BDSM community that I had previously been blind to. While I had known some about BDSM from simply a fetish/paraphilia/technical standpoint, I wasn't aware that it also denoted such a rich community. I suppose that I could have expected that BDSM would have it's own community, but, since it is outside of my realm of sexuality, I was simplistic in the way that I understood BDSM as only a fetish. My simplistic thinking is made worse when I consider the fact that one of my closest friends was a professional submissive for a few years prior to coming to Reno, but I never asked many questions because I felt that it would be too personal or would show potential holes in my knowledge. This is why I am so glad that we had guest speakers for this topic in class. When I was reading this chapter in the Lehmiller book, I found it to be informative on a baseline knowledge level, but it definitely lost a lot of the depth and complexity of the fetishes and paraphilia themselves, and particularly the people that practice these aspects of sexuality. Having a guest speaker come in allows for the other students, as well as myself, to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Human Sexuality And Its Effect On Society Concordia University 2014–08–13 Introduction Human sexuality is defined as the capability of individuals to experience their sexuality and be able to express themselves as sexual beings (Hyde & DeLameck, 2006). Our interest in this topic is because with time, there has been a change in rules that control human sexual behaviour. The status quo in our contemporary society is much different as compared to an earlier state of conditions, and the change has, as a result, brought the evolvement in human sexuality. People 's view on virginity has changed greatly with a decrease of importance in regards to its preservation. Sexuality is essential to the economic, cultural, social and political organization of society or country. Our sexuality plays a fundamental role in all our lives regardless of age, sex or race. It forms a basic part of our personality and the decisions we make in what we do. One's sexuality also consumes much of their time through behaviour or thoughts; at times every aspect of our lives seems to revolve around our sexuality. Studying sexuality is very important since human sexuality majorly contributes to social as well as personal problems. A lingering question concerning this topic is to what extent is virginity determined by the status quo and the rules that control human behaviour? As virginity among young women has been perceived as being more valued than virginity among young men, the importance given to it is something that has been constructed Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Why Human Sexuality is Important April 18, 2013 Why Human Sexuality is Important Human sexuality plans a major role in everyone's life whether you are a man, women, young or old, African American, Caucasian, or Chinese. Sexuality is an integral part of being human. Love, affection, and sexual intimacy contribute to healthy relationships and an individual's well–being. I define human sexuality as a way in which we experience and express ourselves as sexual beings. Being aware of one's sexuality is important as it helps let you know who you are as a person. There also are illnesses, mixed emotions and unintended consequences that can affect our sexual health when addressing ones sexuality. An open discussion of sexual issues is important so it brings awareness to...show more content... • 18. Human Sexuality Human Sexuality By Ludwin Molina Spring, 1999 Introduction Human sexuality plays a major role in everyone's life. Regardless, whether we are young or old, man or woman, American or Japanese, it is an integral part of what we do and who we are. There has been much done by way of research and scholarly writing examining human sexuality (e.g., Abramson & Pinkerton, 1995; Beach, 1976; Diamond, 1997; Reinisch et al., 1990; Stalcup, 1995; Tiefer, 1995). This paper will explore the topic of human sexuality as a motivation. Of course, there are many emotions associated with human sexuality, but the primary aim of this particular paper will be a general overview of sexuality with special attention to the various perspectives, including the:...show more content... In other words, the participants' behavior may consciously be changed to "fit" with what they believe the observer is seeking. Human Sexual Response (1966) by William Masters and Virginia Johnson is one of the seminal studies examining the sexual behavior of humans via the observation method. Despite the controversy engendered by the method of their study, it gave a reliable picture of what happens to the body during sexual behavior. Experimental Method. Experiments permit researchers to draw causal conclusions between the independent variable and dependent variable. One example of this method is exposing participants to sexually arousing materials while instruments monitor physiological responses (Katchadourian, 1989). The particular limitations of this study seem obvious, in that, one cannot manipulate many variables of interest directly because of ethical standards. Correlational Method. Allows the researcher to examine the relationship between variables of interest. For example, a researcher may be interested in the variables that relate to sexual satisfaction in couples. Therefore, he/she may look at the variables of partner compatibility, communication skills, and number of years the couple has been together. The major limitation of this method is that correlation does not equal causation. Case Study Method. The intensive study of one particular participant. • 19. Human Sexuality Essay Just as other interpersonal themes, sexual themes in film are often depictions of sexual themes that exist in real life relationships. For this very reason, it is very easy for a person to compare his relationships with that of a relationship shown in media or film. Some relationships are total train wrecks from the start while others are not necessarily ideal, but healthy. Although not seen very often, ideal couples in film are attributed with characteristics that are seen by society as desirable; youthful, attractive people who are hyper–sexual and affectionate. As clichГ© as it sounds, sometimes relationships are simply "complicated". Such is the case in the film It's Complicated. Just as the relationships depicted within the film are...show more content... When Jane and Jake meet up to attend their son's graduation, the two begin to have an affair. At the same time, she begins to fall inlove with another man that she is seeing. Not knowing what she wants, Jane must decide whether she wants to rekindle her relationship with her ex or move on to the newer man in her life. There are a few human sexuality themes that I noticed in this film. The first and most obvious theme that I noticed is how the film goes against the stereotypes that media places of sexuality and age. At often times, younger people are seen to have vibrant sexual relationship. The thing that I can admire about this film is that it shows sex between older people. Most people have misconceptions that when people achieve a certain age, they no longer have sex. This stereotype is not true. People who are in their 50's and up can still have very healthy active sex lives. This stereotype was something that the characters in the film seemed to struggle with. Both Jane and Jake were trying to fight the aging to seem more physically attractive. For example, Jane considered getting a facelift to compete with her ex's young wife. Jane also seemed to be very influenced by her friend's ideas on love and sex; their perspective seemed to alter her perspective. In the beginning, she was very conflicted in expressing her sexuality. She dealt with this struggle by succumbing to what they believed she needed to do in her own sex life. The second theme that I recognized Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Human Sexuality Throughout the ages, our society has documented homosexuality. Within our culture, homosexuality has been largely condemned. In looking at the historical perspective of homosexuality, the responses were different with each society that was dealing with it. The Greeks were okay with it due to their belief that some of their mythical gods were engaging in homosexual behavior. Christianity denounced those sexual associations and made their belief and intentions clear that this behavior was not to continue. The legal system became intertwined with the Christian belief that homosexuality was sinful and would punish inappropriate sex acts as criminal offenses (Rathus, Nevid, & Fichner–Rathus, 2005). Heritage is another perspective to consider....show more content... Even at such a young age, I knew I was attracted to females, even before perspectives on "normal" or gay relationships were drilled into my mind by society. What is not to love about the female body? The primary issue I have with all of the perspectives covered in textbooks is that they all operate from the premise that something is amiss or wrong within the individual that leads to the individual becoming gay. This view, that something went wrong to make an individual gay, undoubtedly makes it incredibly difficult for a gay individual to admit, live openly, and adequately adjust to being gay. Perhaps there are biological, psychological, societal, and other aspects that may influence an individual's sexual preference, but perhaps the real fallacy exists in the belief that God created the gay individual to be anything other than who and what he or she is. The real issue should not by what went wrong that caused an individual to be gay, but why is the gay individual not afforded the same rights that the heterosexual takes for granted every day. In conclusion, homosexuality is gaining acceptance, or at least better than it once was fifty years ago. Homosexuals are gaining more rights and they do not have to hide themselves the way they use to in fear of rejection or shame. Nonetheless, there is more distance to go in the striving for full Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 21. Reflection Paper On Human Sexuality Reflective Paper #2 Considering the amount of sexuality that is displayed in the Western culture via television, radio, social media, advertising, et cetera, it is surprising that sex is still considered taboo by the majority of the United States population. Heflick (2011) asserts that "Our primal, animal sexuality ignites fears of our own mortality [and] only when it is embedded in a uniquely human context, like love and romance, is this not the case" as a reason for this construct. Perhaps because sexuality is so dominantly pervasive in our society is the very reason it remains taboo and consequently not spoken about openly within the family unit as it should be. Or maybe sexuality goes unspoken as means of deterring youths from participating in sexual behaviors. In any case, as parents, as church elders, as members of a civilized society, or as counselors, speaking about sex and sexuality generally and about the response cycle and/or sexual reproductive anatomy specifically should be a proactive stance taken by all. The human body is nothing to be ashamed of nor is the manner in which we procreate and display love and affection towards our significant other something to be hidden away. On the contrary, human sexuality is God–given and should be cherished as well as valued. The importance of counselors being well–versed in the area of the response cycle and/or sexual reproductive anatomy is due to the many problems that can arise from either miscommunications or no communication at all about these subjects in relationships. When a counselor is able to speak candidly and straightforwardly with their client(s) about sex and the biological processes involved with sexuality the chance of improving the client(s) sex life drastically improves which in turn can alleviate undue stressors within the relationship. My parents never had the "Birds and the Bees" talk with me, never had "a series of small conversations spread out over many years" (Weston, 2006), nor did I have sex education in school. My entire knowledge base about sex and sexuality is derived from every other conceivable source. This may explain why I consider my comfort level for talking with clients about the response cycle and/or sexual Get more content on HelpWriting.net
