The novel Life of Pi is all about discerning between fact and belief. But which is reality? Yann Martel, the author of the text, declares that "reality is
an interpretation, a choice of readings, a choice of stories." The definition of reality, therefore, is not events which actually occur, but what is real to an
individual. Every person has a different reality, shaped by their experiences, beliefs, interpretations, readings and stories. In other words, you choose
your reality.
In Life of Pi, Pi is always searching for the "better story". While Pi is describing agnostics, he proclaims that they "lack imagination and miss the
better story" (Martel 64) in life. He later inquires of the men interviewing him, "'Which is the better story, the story with animals or the story without
animals?'" (Martel 317) after recounting two versions of his 227 days at sea. The "better story" is the story which opens up the mind, the story which

What is reality? Is it something that shapes us and alters our entire life and everything around us or is reality something that we create? That's a

Canada would potentially have an unlimited ability to control his reality. On the other hand a person living in Africa would not be able to control
his reality with such relative ease, or even more so, be completely limited in his options. My other large point on my idea of reality is the concept of

Many of us are often seen living in a fantasy, an imagination that is unrestricted by reality. Reality is the state of things which actually exist and
unlike fantasy is usually less attractive to the subconscious mind. Fantasy is a world that many of us wish to live in because we either fail to see
or choose to accept reality, which is a form of escapism. Escapism is defined as the tendency to seek distraction and relief from unpleasant realities,
especially by seeking entertainment or engaging in fantasy. In this escapism world we can choose to see and do what our heart desires. This is also

Why, sometimes there weren't enough chairs to accommodate them all" (Williams, 4). Amanda would name each gentlemen caller and explain what
they did with their lives to serve as a reminder of how much better her life would've been if she had pick any one of the gentlemen callers. By retelling
the stories, it allow Amanda to believe that she is still a girl receiving gentlemen callers, a way to be able to escape from the real world and get some
breather from her unhappy living situation. As seen in Amanda's case, escapism help provide her with this sense of hope and her well–being. Without
being able to escape, all hope will be lost.
In a make–believe world, it can help confuse us into believing that what scares and troubles us is now gone. Fantasy is one of many healthy outlets
that allow us to step away from unhappy, hopeless and unfortunate situations in the real world. This form of escapism plays a major role in our mental
well–being as long as we know when to disengage ourselves and return to reality.
Others may be dealing with escaping their reality in different ways but eventually it will achieve the same goal, which is to seek comfort and happiness.
Today, people has turned to other outlets to seek this comfort, such as video gaming, movies, sports, books or even social media to detach themselves

The only thing in my life that I can be positive about is change. Everything changes, from the moment we're born to the moment we die. Reality has
many twist and turns, and our perception of reality is what shapes us to become who we are. Our life is spent on deciphering the difference between
reality and not reality. This is hard to define because reality is unique to each individual.
Our environment and the people we are around shape our perception of what is real. Reality is our grip of what is true and false, right and wrong, what

I got the worst spanking I have ever got in my life, but I really thought that my mom had abandoned me forever. I was terrifically frightened of being
alone, and the thought of the people I loved and who took care of me leaving me was even scarier.
My parents had never threatened to leave me; they never abused me, so why did I not trust her enough to know that she would come back? My
perception of the world at that moment was that I was deserted and lonely. My mother had influenced and shaped my reality into me believing she
wouldn't come back for me. That moment in my life showed my mother that I didn't trust her, and that hurt her feelings. I couldn't change the way I felt,
so she had to accept that.
Reality is an idea. It is something that man invented like intelligence or love. Reality is our perception of where we are in our lives at that moment.
That concludes that our perception of reality is subject to change, for our lives change. Some people like to take drugs to distort their experience of
life. These drugs bring on a euphoric state of mind that most people believe is true reality. Many drugs are addicting, but that isn't the reason why
people take them. They are merely addicted to the effects drugs play on their brain. They get caught in a circle of depression, addiction, and drugs.
