3. Your Consultant
Sam Davies – LLB (hons)Laws, MSc – Management Consultancy
Retained I am an MSc qualified Management Consultant specialising in Corporate Governance and CSR,
currently reading for a Doctorate in Personnel Change Management. I now work Independently within the
Geo-technical, Environmental & Sustainable Energy sector for major Infrastructure contractors and
consultancies nationwide, prior to this I set up a Geotechnical Recruitment Company from scratch on behalf
of two investors before leaving to set up as a completely Independent Management Consultancy Business. I
have been very fortunate to win and continue to win repeat business within the Geo-Scientific market and
believe in offering the best level of service possible to my client base.
IConsult Technical Limited combines management consultancy with tailored recruitment solutions in a highly specialised area of the engineering market, the
work conducted via myself is on a strictly confidential basis and very often the assignments worked on will not be in the public domain nor do I advertise
or give away client information to third parties. I am fully licensed and insured, this covers all liabilities, professional indemnities and Data Protection.
I account manage several clients whilst also working contractually in house on retained projects for clients on upon request. I am a strong believer that
retained assignments are advantageous as a cost saving strategy which allows me to present capabilities on an internal contractual basis expanding on clients’
needs whilst strategically planning acquisition drives that can be implemented alongside current HR departments that clients can follow long term to achieve
their goals.
I offer a reputable Trouble shooting service and am capable of working on other difficult problem assignments outside of the Geo-technical & Environmental
remit upon request. I offer this troubleshooting service to a great majority of clients who have niche problem vacancies within the Geo-Science remit which
agencies on PSL's find more problematic to service. I also have a thorough understanding of employment and contract law and can advise when necessary
on both perm and interim appointments or refer over to a highly reputable employment lawyer.
4. Why choose a Head hunter
rather than an agency?
A Recruitment Agency will typically:
• Charge a fee on placement of a candidate
• Be competing with other agencies in a "CV race" which often leads to candidates unknowingly having their CV past around without their knowledge – this
is extremely damaging in a small niche market like ours.
• Take the path of least resistance as a result. For example run an ad and look on a database.
• Invest minimal time and move on to the next role
A true Head-Hunter will:
• Understand their market thoroughly
• Be able to advise on market rates to clients and advise candidates of their worth in the current economic climate.
• Search the whole of the market
• Identify the best possible person for the job
• Network and phone around, ask for referrals from candidates and clients of who is best suited for a role, 90% of the time they approach the “passive
market”.
• Invest considerable time in identifying and approaching ALL possible candidates
• Find BETTER people, not available to a recruitment agency
• It is a much more thorough process and one which involves a wide network of contacts in a very specialist area.
“Our Success rate speaks for itself”
We deal with the “passive” market, the best talent isn’t usually on a job board hence why we approach talented individuals who are usually quite
contented in their current roles and tempt them out of their “comfort zones”. We target the best IN the market, not ON the market.

Geotechnical contractor or Consultancy Business.
• IConsult will also offer a mentoring service should the client wish to develop their own staff to carry out the same work.
7. What is a Problem Vacancy?
• The role has been out to several agencies, it still
remains unfilled.
• The Vacancy left unfilled is posing a significant
problem within your business.
• The Vacancy left unfilled is costing your business
money.
• The Vacancy is over six months old.
• You may have made several offers and these offers
have been turned down.
• The Agencies on your PSL have sent people who were
not suitable for the post or do not preform at
interview to carry though to offer.
If you have at least 3 of the following, IConsult will
classify this as a problem vacancy. Rates are negotiable
for vacancies like this depending on varying factors, we
offer a 60 minute consultation with the client before
commencing with a search.
Diagnosing a Problem Vacancy?
A problem vacancy is a vacancy which has been left
unfilled by a company PSL. The nature of the vacancy and
location are usually the most common factors as to why a
vacancy may be more difficult to fill, very often this will
require extensive research, time and headhunting ability
to pull the right individual in.
IConsult can usually fill a problem vacancy within our
field of expertise within a 16 week time frame, we classify
any vacancy unfilled for more than 9 months a problem
vacancy.
