ABOUT US
Institute of chemical Technology (ICT) has come a long way from its foundation as the
Bombay University Department of Chemical Technology on October 1, 1933/ It was
recognized as an institute and changed to the Mumbai University Institute of Chemical
Technology on January 26, 2002. The Government of Maharashtra granted full
autonomy to ICT in June 2004. On the recommendation of the Government of
Maharashtra and University of Mumbai, ICT was granted Deemed University status
by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) on September 12, 2008.
ICT has brought kudos to India. Its stellar performance is reflected in the following
achievements:
•ICT is the first Institute in Maharashtra to get elite status in 2012, which sets the
institute at par with IITs and IISERs
•The MHRD had evaluated all deemed universities in the country all deemed
universities in the country in 2009 and granted A grade to 38 universities among 135
deemed universities. ICT is rated as the number one Deemed universities with A
grade.
•ICT has been chosen for implementation of both TEQUIP I and TEQUIP II
implementation.
•ICT has also been rated as the number one institute by the National project
Implementation Unit (NPIU) among 127 Technical Education Quality Improvement
Program (TEQUIP) funded institutes, all over india, in October 2010.
•ICT Mumbai retained its number one rank among the public institutions in the Bio
Spectrum Biotech School Survey2011, conducted by Bio Spectrum India.
•The University Grants Commission (UGC) recognised faculty members who have
guided at least 15 Ph.D degree holders.
•ICT has a record of 14 faculty members who have qualified for special grants.
Research has been an integral part of ICT, with state-of-the art research facilities and
hostels. The faculty is highly accomplished, with multi-disciplinary interests and
decorated with national and international awards and honours. All leading foreign
universities and industries seek ICT graduates. The fore going demonstrates ICT’s
international standing, meriting the criteria on of a special status.
