2. Welcome to the fifth annual Hoopsfix All-Star
Classic!
It’s crazy to think that this year is the fifth
edition of the Hoopsfix All-Star Classic, starting
from humble beginnings at Brunel University in
2014, before moving to Brixton where we have
remained ever since.
The Hoopsfix All-Star Classic is a weekend
showcase of British basketball talent and
culture, aiming to recognise and celebrate
some of the country’s best players who
spend so much of their time receiving little
acknowledgement of their achievements in
their own country.
The fifth year sees some major changes. Thanks
to a newly-formed partnership with Nike, for
the first time ever we are going over two days,
allowing us to add in an Under-19 Women’s
game for the first time, along with 3-point
shootout and clinic for coaches.
The rosters for the three games taking place
are once again stacked with talent, featuring
numerous of the top young British prospects
who we believe are the future stars of the
country.
I would like to personally thank you so much for
taking the time and making the effort to come
and join us this weekend – this event simply
wouldn’t happen if it wasn’t for people like you
buying tickets!
The rest of the money and resources that
allow today to happen come from our valued
partners; Nike, Molten, Sportserve Ltd, 5or6,
ESPN Player, Let Me Play and Always Ballin’.
As I continue to maintain, it takes a special kind
of company to be willing to invest in basketball
in the UK, and all of the above partners have
proven their support in the growth of basketball
here – please, if you get the chance in the
future, use their services wherever possible to
show it was a worthwhile investment!
Be sure to use the hashtag #HASC19 when
talking about the day on social media, and
follow @Hoopsfix on all our social media
accounts for real time updates with photos and
videos from the event.
Enjoy your day and don’t hesitate to reach out if
you ever need anything,

3. Founded in 2014, and officially incorporated as
a Community Interest Company in 2016, the
Hoopsfix Foundation is the not-for-profit arm of
British basketball website, Hoopsfix.com.
Left reeling after a non-existent legacy from
the 2012 Olympics, Hoopsfix launched the
foundation with the intention of ensuring
basketball has some support to reach its potential
across the home nations.
A not-for-profit, its sole mission is to grow and
raise the profile of basketball in the United
Kingdom, through a focus on – but not limited
to - projects that have a long term, sustainable
impact.
Though the work over the years has
predominantly focused around the Classic, we
are hoping to release whitepapers, provide
educational resources and organise future events.
Any profits from the Hoopsfix All-Star Classic go
back into the Foundation to fund future events
and projects.

4. Jackson Gibbons
Team Black Head Coach
A former player at Westminster Warriors
and Brixton Topcats, Gibbons ended up in
coaching, starting with the Westminster
Warriors, where he had an undefeated
season and won an Under-18 National
title in 2010, before setting up the City of
London Academy basketball programme
– which is also a part of Southwark Pride
programme – in 2012.
In what is a relatively short period of
time, CoLA/Southwark has had a lot of
success, winning a number of National titles
(including the same group of girls winning
the Under-18 Playoffs title, Under-18
Cup, WEABL, Division 1 Women Playoffs,
and Women’s National Cup in 2017) and
placing numerous players in the USA on
scholarship, whilst focusing on developing
their own locally-produced talent.
Nick Drane
Team White Head Coach
Having started playing with Colchester
as a junior player, Drane was in his early
twenties when he got his first job in
basketball development in Suffolk which put
him on a path that led to the resurgence of
Ipswich basketball club.
Ipswich is now one of the most successful
clubs in the country, having experienced
success at almost every level both male
and female, whilst having sent players to
play collegiately in the US, and onward
to successful professional careers. Most
impressively, Ipswich thrives off locally
developed talent, relying on no external
recruitment.

The third edition of the Hoopsfix All-Star
Classic saw a third straight sellout as the
event remained in Brixton for a second
year. RJ Eytle-Rock took MVP honours
after leading Team White to victory in
the Under-19 game with 15 points, five
rebounds, six assists and six steals, while
2015 MVP Kyle Carey top scored with 20
points. In the Under-17 game, Zion Tordoff
was named MVP after putting up 18 points
and six rebounds in victory for Team Black.
Amin Adamu showed off his bounce to
claim the dunk contest.
2015 will forever be remembered for ‘the
dunk’ as Kyle Carey served up the highlight
of the event’s history so far in front of a
sellout crowd at Brixton Rec. That was part
of Carey’s MVP performance after finishing
with 23 points in Team Black’s victory in the
inaugural Under-19 game. Gedi Juozapaitis
starred in the event’s first-ever Under-17
game with 20 points, seven rebounds and
five assists as Team White prevailed. 5’10”
Myles Laurent-Smart impressed in the dunk
contest to take home the honours.
2015
For its first year, the Classic went to Brunel
University, in West London, and featured an
Under-16 and Under-26 game. Selling out in
advance, the Senior game featured a number
of GB internationals, as it pitted Matthew
Bryan-Amaning, who wound up MVP, against
Dan Clark. In the junior game, it was Jelani
Watson-Gayle who made a name for himself,
taking home MVP and getting a call back
up to the U16 National Team. GB’s Myles
Hesson was crowned dunk champion.
With Hoopsfix.com having officially launched in
2010 - but an earlier concept beginning in 2009
- we have records of trying to do some type of
British All-Star showcase from as early as 2011.
It took a few years to finally get it off the ground,
but here is a brief history from each year of the
Hoopsfix All-Star Classic.
Hoopsfix All-Star
Classic History
2014
After a year hiatus, the Hoopsfix All-Star
Classic returned to Brixton for the third
year in front of another sellout crowd. Ade
Adebayo picked up the Underclassmen MVP

whilst Brian Amabilino-Perez scored 11 of his
game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter for
MVP honours to lead Team White to victory
in the Class of 2019 game. Jonathan Brown
fought off the competition for the dunk
contest title.

spectating who have pre-registered.
The line up is as follows

of his favourite drills to ensure a fundamental skill
base.

co-founder of the original Basketball Coaches
Association in the UK Mark Dunning will take us
through an on-court session with a multi-purpose
