This document discusses Holly Woods' theory of how an individual's stage of consciousness influences their expression of purpose. It presents a model of six stages of consciousness development, from concrete to meta-aware, and how each stage relates to one's sense of self, power structures, and purpose orientation. The early stages focus on self and immediate relationships, while later stages expand out to community and beyond. One's stage of consciousness determines how purpose is understood and what the primary purpose tasks are. Guiding others to purpose requires understanding their developmental stage.

13. Stage of Consciousness / Evolutionary Awareness
Affects Roles in Cultural context =
Purposeful Expression
• Early stages of consciousness (1.0-2.5)
• Limited ability to influence others.
• Attention and intention is primarily focused upon self and clan/family/ nearby social structures.
• Purpose as an identity and an ideal would be limited to near-term goals.
• Middle ranges of consciousness (3.0-4.0)
• Access to a much broader perspective and larger contextual awareness.
• More readily influence our world purposefully.
• Late stages of consciousness (4.5-5.5)
• Reality is recognized as based upon perspective and therefore illusory.
• Ability to influence contexts (and the world) is much broader because we see/know the world to be malleable.
• Even later stages of consciousness (6.0+)
• Influence is vast, multidimensional and unlimited.
• Purposeful endeavor limited only by what one can conceive.
• Limited primarily because we do not believe in the “inconceivable”.
