The TRH Youth Reining Club IEA Team was formed and
organized to promote and improve the quality of
equestrian competition and instruction available to middle
and secondary school students, as well as to funnel riders
to collegiate riding teams. As a member of the well
designed Intercollegiate Equestrian Association (IEA), The
TRH Youth Reining Club IEA team is geared to promote
the common interests of safe riding instruction and
competition, develop understanding and appreciation of
equestrian sports, provide students with organized
competitive events, as well as provide additional equine
educational opportunities, specifically to riders
who might not have the opportunity otherwise.
The TRH Youth Reining Club IEA team riders
are offered the experience of a lifetime, training
as a team and enjoying a well-organized
competition circuit.
Currently, through the IEA, TRH Youth team
student riders have a few opportunities to earn

scholarships towards their college education. The IEA is
an affiliate of the United States Equestrian Federation, the
Intercollegiate Horse Show Association, and the NRHA. In
addition, a new program called the “Emerging Athlete’s
Program”, allows high school students who are active
members of the USEF the ability to acquire varsity school
letters for riding. This is the first program to enable these
student rider’s to receive athletic academic recognition!

When riding for the TRH Youth team, the emphasis for the
rider is totally on the sport and ability to ride, not
ownership of a horse that might present an advantage
due to its abilities. The unique aspect of these
competitions, both at the local and national level, is that it
emulates the collegiate riding format where none of the
riders supply their own horses or tack. Instead, the
horses, saddle and other tack are all provided to the
students at the competition by the host team. The
equipment and horses may be borrowed from various
training barns and facilities. Essentially, the horses are
new to the riders, and the scores are based upon
horsemanship, not the horse. It allows all riders, no matter
the financial backing, to compete on a level playing
ground. The skills the riders develop in this structure of
competition are clearly invaluable.

About our Coaches
Holly Tracy-Cure is a professional reining horse trainer as
well as a carded NRHA judge. She is also the head
western coach for the University of Colorado. She
obtained an associates degree from Northeastern Junior
College in Equine Management as well as a Bachelor’s
degree in Equine Science with a minor in Agricultural
Business from Colorado State University. After multiple
years working under multiple successful NRHA trainers,
Holly ventured out on her own in 2007 and started Tracy
Reining Horses, LLC. She now lives in Longmont with her
husband, Steve and daughter Payton. In December of
2014 they purchased a 10 acre horse farm which is now
the home of TRHYRC and TRH.

Holly has $3000+ LTE in the NRHA and has coached
many successful Non-Pros, Amateurs and Youth. She is
very passionate about the IEA. Coming from a ranching

background, she wanted to be a horse trainer as early on
as she can remember. The opportunity to show at a
higher level just wasn't there as a youth, and she feels she
could have benefited greatly from a program like this.
“The show experience these kids are getting is invaluable.
I would have been so much further ahead in my horse
training and showing career had I had an opportunity like
this. This program teaches kids how to be riders.”

Holly first heard about the IEA while attending an NRHA
Judges school. Upon returning home she immediately
got to work to get the first western team started in the
state of Colorado, TRH Youth Reining Club. There are
now 4+ teams in the state and 3 more in Arizona so the
sport is gaining momentum! We are currently interviewing
assistant coaches with Horsemanship experience so stay
tuned for our announcement for our new assistant!
