2. High Angle Shot-
High Angle Shot- A shot whereby the camera is positioned at the angle above the
object.
Typically used in all types of media. This technique is usually used when the character
or characters are in a spot of bother and is the turning point of the film.
An example of a High Angle Shot is in the film the ‘Avengers’ when villains are going to
attack the Avengers team and it is a the turning point in the film because it is where
they defeat them then the film ends
3. Low Angle Shot
Low angle shot- A shot Whereby the camera is positioned at an angle below the object.
This shot is typically use in all types of media. This type of shot is usually used when a
character in the film has lots of power and it is showing off their authority within the
film.
An example of this shot within a film is the film Shrek this technique is portrayed when
Lord Farquaad is instigating the gingerbread man and Lord Farquaad is a person in the
film with a lot of power.
4. Extreme Long Shot
Extreme Long Shot- A wide shot that places a person or object a long distance away
from the camera.
Typically this technique is used in all types of media. Usually this technique is used
when a character is looking at a whole scene or when the character is doing something
in the film of massive significance.
An example of an extreme long shot is in ratatouille when Remy is looking out over
Paris at the scenery reflecting on how beautiful the scene is
5. Extreme Close Up
Extreme Close Up- A shot which captures a specific feature reaction on a persons face.
Typically this technique is used in all types of media. Usually this technique is used
when you want to show the character in fine detail and all there facial features
An example of this is in the film is in the film Avatar like in this image where there is a
close up of Jake Sully and is clearly showing off all of the details within his face and it
shows that he is potentially angry at something
6. Medium Shot
Medium Shot- A shot which a person can be seen from head to waist
Typically this technique is used in all types of media. Usually this technique is used
when it is one of the key points in the film and is usually the turning point in the film
An example of this is in the film is in the film Titanic when Jack and Rose have there
iconic scene when Rose in Jacks arms on the edge of the ship, this is a turning point
because it shows there love between one another
7. Close Up
Close up- A shot in which a persons head is captured
Typically this technique is used in all types of media. Usually this technique is used
when the character or characters are looking very serious and look angry at the
situation occurring
An example of this is in the film is in the film Harry Potter when Harry is having his duel
with Voldemort and he is trying to defeat him and has a very concentrated face
8. Point-of-view Shot
Point-of-view Shot- A shot captured from a persons point of view
Typically this technique is used in all types of media. Usually this technique is used
when a certain character in the film is has a first person scene
An example of this is in the film is in the film Hangover when 3 of the main characters
are faced with a problem they find a baby in the closet and the camera angle is from
the babies perspective
9. Long Shot
Long Shot- A shot in which a person can be seen from head to toe
Typically this technique is used in all types of media. Usually this technique is used
when a character is traveling at the time and it captures them on the move
An example of this is in the film is in the film Pirates of the Caribbean when Jack is
running away from a group of people out to get him and he looks scared and in panic
10. Medium Long Shot
Medium Long Shot- A shot in which a person can be seen from head to knee
Typically this technique is used in all types of media. Usually this technique is used
when one character is angry or in trouble
An example of this is in the film is in the film is in Toy Story 3 when Buzz is flirting with
Jesse and Woody is looking on in disgrace
11. Medium Close Up
Medium Close up- A shot in which a person can be seen from head to shoulders/upper
body
Typically this technique is used in all types of media. Usually this technique is used
when a character is telling a story or is looking very serious
An example of this is in the film is in the film Forrest Gump when he is telling the
women about his life story
12. Two Shot
Two shot- a cinema or television shot of two people together.
Typically this technique is used when two characters are talking to one another
typically when characters are on a bench or on a sofa creating a everyday situation.
An example of a two shot is in the film The Incredibles when Mr Incredible is talking to
rick about the act he has just comitted.
13. Over-the-shoulder Shot
Over-the-shoulder shot- In film or video, an over the shoulder shot is a shotof
someone or something taken from the perspective or camera angle from
the shoulder of another person.
This shot is typically used in filming when there is a interview going on or a interigation
is taking place.
An example of over-the-shoulder shot is in the film Batman.
