1. > BLANKETS
The blankets are made of Finnsheep and Grey Finnsheep hides,
the leather parts of reindeer as well as sheep. The animals have
grown in Finland and the skins are tanned in Finnish tanneries
using environmentally friendly processes. The form of the
blanket follows a centuries-old Finnish tradition, with a
contemporary twist. With their carefully tailored details, the
blankets are a tribute to the Nordic haute couture: fur work.
> ORIGIN
The Finnsheep and the Grey Finnsheep are Finnish landraces.
They are results of local, long-term development and they have
unique characteristics. Their wool is lustrous, soft and curly,
which makes it ideal material for arts and crafts. Unfortunately
the Finnsheep are small and less productive than internationally
used races and Finnsheep are in great danger of disappearing,
despite the fact that they are important for conserving a wide
genetic diversity. The most significant role in keeping a live
population is in the hands of the farmers who breed landraces
as production animals on their privately own farms.
