The unfortunate portrayal of Muslims through the media, marginalises and misrepresents the Muslims community. The media has introduced a
distorted and unbalanced image of Islam and Muslims, describing their religion as radical and violent, and portrayed followers as a group of brutal
barbarians. Although the media exposes Muslims as all terrorists, the minority of the Muslim community are hidden behind the scenes, waiting for
someone to speak up.

The issues pertaining to terrorism and Muslims is an issue that has been topic of conversation in many American homes, and it's an issue that needs to

national and international spotlight (Smith, 2013). As Smith (2013) articulated, "Many Americans who had never given Islam a second thought
before 9/11 now had to figure out how to make sense of these events and relate to the faith tradition that ostensibly inspired them" (p. 1). One way in
which people made sense of these events was through the media channels that influenced their overall opinions by shaping a framework of censored
ideas (Yusof, Hassan, Hassan & Osman, 2013). In a survey conducted by Pew Forum (2012), 32% of people reported that their opinions of Muslims
were greatly influenced by the media's portrayal of Islam that depicted violent pictorials and fundamentalist Muslims. Such constant negative depiction
is likely to lead to the inevitable–prejudice and hate crime. For instance, in 2002 alone there were approximately 481 hate crimes that were carried out

Islam, like Christianity and Judaism, is a monotheistic faith, meaning they believe in one God and one God only. In their language, God is translated to
"Allah". I think of Islam as the ultimate monotheistic religion. As Kenneth Woodward mentions, the Qur'an utterly rejects the Christian idea of the
Holy Trinity as "polytheistic" ("Holy Books"). For Christians, the Holy Trinity is essentially a symbolic idea of one person who manifests in different
ways. Historically, it seems as if Judaism is the most tolerant of the three. The earliest Israel was henotheistic, meaning that although Israelites
worshipped only one God, they did not deny the existence of other gods for other nations. ("Judaism", Funk & Wagnall's New World Encyclopedia).
As the Christians have Jesus and the Jews have Moses as their main prophet, Islam has Mohammed. All three prophets are considered the ultimate
standard of what it means to be of each faith. Muhammed was actually considered to be illiterate, but was still able to read, comprehend, and pass on
what the angel Gabriel showed him. He struggled for years with the knowledge that he had and realization that he needed to share his message, which
was spread through the Qur'an, the holy book of Islam. Muhammad was essentially a family and community man, sometimes turned warrior, concerned
for his society, needing to warn them of an impending judgement. (Johnson, 2015) His message
