Satire Essay On Broken Food System
Prabhat Singh

Great discrepancies have grown in the physical health of the citizens. Nearly half of African Americans born in year 2000 are expected to develop
type II diabetes. Blacks are 30 percent more likely to die young from heart disease than white or any other racial group.
While 34 percent people in the United States are obese, almost one out of every six households will find themselves fearful sometime in a year of not
having sufficient amount of food to eat. Truly, these problem are not related to any specific one race or gender, and they are not simply due to faults
of willpower or personnel discipline. As author mentioned they are symptoms of a broken food system.

Due to which we have to be entirely dependent on a food system which is corrupt and unsafe. I absolutely agree with Allen's thinking that everyone
should have equal access to healthy, affordable food should be a civil right– every bit is as important as other necessary things required to survive.
This system has definitely placed quantity over quality, uniformity over diversity and profit over service. Wrong focuses and information are provided
to the farmers to grow commodity crops. Food is being processed by machines and higher chemical process which is significantly affecting the citizens
physically and mentally.
These all circumstances have risen over the past decades. My question is what exactly have government done to correct or figure out these problems?
The answer is nothing, if they had taken some actions and measures results would have been different and people would have been much healthier
and physically fit. It's the time for government to intervene and take care of these issues seriously. A government is formed from public support and
should only aim to work for public means. I feel like political parties and senior government officials are busy getting their political motto straight by
ignoring the fact to serve the citizens of this

Low Fat Movement Essay
When you have something as massive and scary as the obesity epidemic, it's hard to point the finger at one single element and say, "that's why it
happened." But however you slice it, the low–fat movement played a part in the epidemic.
After World War ll, heart disease rates began to rise precipitously. In the 1970s, a committee led by Senator George McGovern issued a report
advising Americans to lower their risk of heart disease by eating less fat. This recommendation was based on evidence that linked diet to heart disease.
Unfortunately, the report wrongly singled out saturated fat as the wicked element in our diet responsible for all our problems. This was the beginning
of the low–fat movement.
And of the obesity epidemic.
It's more than a coincidence that they happened at the same time, and here's why.
Once dietary fat was "identified" as the chief culprit in heart disease –– a huge case of mistaken identity in my opinion –– food manufacturers sprang
into...show more content...
The whole low–fat movement coincided with a huge spike in food processing and those who process and manufacture food products for a living have
one goal –– getting people to eat more of their products. That's easy to do –– just engineer combinations of sugar and a bit of fat, which worked really
well with the whole "low–fat" philosophy.
As long as it didn't have too much fat, you could eat it, right?
Meanwhile, fat –– the one macronutrient that keeps you full and satisfied –– was lacking from most of what we were eating. Sugar, the one element
that keeps cravings going, was plentiful. Portion sizes in general collectively took a shot of steroids, as the whole country decided that super sizing was
its birthright.
Low fat has a lot to answer for. It may not be the only reason we're experiencing one of the worst health epidemics in modern times, but it sure is one of
the biggest.
Want to ditch the low–fat foods? Then learn how to eat healthy and distinguish serving versus portion

Obesity : A Serious Health Issue
Obesity is a very serious health issue in the United States. It is a factor in heart
disease, diabetes, and has even been linked to an increased likelihood of certain cancers.
Cottum and Anderson (2008) state "It is estimated that 280,000 excess deaths in the
United States annually can be attributed to obesity and morbid obesity when compared to
cohorts who have normal BMI" (p. 480). When considering the health issues that come
along with obesity and the amount of people dying because of this condition, it is plain
to see that America's weight problem needs to be fixed. In order to begin solving.
Through nutritional education, psychological care, and plenty of emotional support,
America can beat obesity. To begin with, Americans need to be more educated aboutnutrition and how to
make wise choices in regard to their health. Nutritional and physical education should start as early as possible, and should be a part of a school
cirriculum and home life.
Brewer and Rieg (2013) wrote about an investigation into a grant–funded obesity prevention program that was conducted involving eight preschool
employees. The program required sixty minutes of mandatory organized physical activity each week, and a change in foods served to the children was
implimented. Over

Obesity Crisis Research Paper
"Though I have never heard of the obesity crisis, it is obvious that obesity is an issue". This is the opening statement of the paper I wrote at the
beginning of the semester, which is unbelievable now. I have learned so much about the obesity crisis: when it began, what lead to it, how it affects
the country, how obesity effects an individual, what contributes to it, what other countries have done and are doing to battle the issue and what we
can do in America to combat it, along with the process of reliable research and how important it is to question what might seem obvious. Maybe the
popular opinion is the truth, but maybe, such as in the case of the obesity crisis, it is as far off as it can get. In just a few months, I have gone from

My original essay is almost the complete opposite of what I now believe. I said that people consume so much fast food because their lives are busy
and they are looking for something quick and easy rather than taking the time to cook something at home. This would mean that all fast food
consumption is a decision made by a person to be unhealthy either because they are busy, lazy or do not care about their health or weight. This is
absolutely true in some cases, but falls very short of being the whole truth. By being encouraged to look at the fast food industry rather than just
the obese person, I have found that most of the blame for people consuming too much fast food needs to be put on the industry itself. They really
do know what they are doing. Food ques are all over, they know what people want to see and hear, they know how to pull people in by using color
psychology, aiming ads at the most vulnerable people (children, busy working parents, college students, etc.) and by making it nearly impossible to
be anywhere without a food que. Not only do I disagree with the causes that I brought up in my original paper, I also cannot believe that I only
targeted the fast food industry. The entire food and beverage industry is a problem along with any industry, company, organization or person who is
being paid, sponsored or employed by them. It makes complete sense that the food industry

many individuals don't put a stop to this epidemic. Or many don't accept the truth behind these bad foods that can cause a big problem to the body.

foods and ignoring the junk foods, this will increase the eating habits of several teens and adults. This generation needs to change the way they eat

Persuasive Speech On Obesity
Obesity Did you know that there are over 2 Billion obese people in the World? Did you know that worldwide obesity has nearly doubled since
1980? Did you know that obesity is the 5th leading cause of death globally? It's no mystery that obesity is a gargantuan issue worldwide. Irrespective
of where you go there is certain to be an obese population; over thirty percent of the America's population is obese and in the U.K, it is twenty–five
percent. As a matter of fact, there is a mean of more than fourteen percent of people who are obese in every country. Greasy and unhealthy meals
which are dangerous to the human body are sold everywhere you go; you simply can't escape from them. Studies show that 41% of men aged 20–65
will be obese and 36% of women will be obese by 2020. That's almost half the population! A healthy diet and exercise 2 to 3 times a week is the
key to not becoming obese. Although obesity can lead to many deadly diseases, it is not classed a disease itself even though some Doctors say it
causes people to eat too much and exercise too little. It can damage the body and decrease regular body characteristics, like a sickness, but it can be
treated (in contrast to some illnesses) and a person can return to a healthy state of living if they keep persevering. That's right. Obesity can be treated
if you follow the right lifestyle. People are looking past obesity as if it is insignificant, but if we properly educate these people and the obese

Obesity : The Fight Against Obesity

While for many feel that obesity is a personal and must be fought in secret with no involvement of anyone else, many will disagree with that because
obesity affects every tax payer and impair a community as a whole. Obesity is a big problem here in my America and it has to be a matter of public
discussion. This fight can be done through a lot of places, churches, physician offices, dietary and nutrition offices this fight cannot be done by
individual, people that are obesity need the public to pitch and help them in how to lose weight and start a healthy life style. This paper will
address why and why not obesity is considered an epidemic, and address why the fight against obesity should be a public discussion and concerned.
It is hard for someone to get over an accelerated addiction without the public help, people that are obese are addicted to food and the life style they
are used to, it is important for society to be involved. " In 2008, the city established nutrition standards for the 270 million meals and snacks various
government agencies serve each year, including restricting trans fat, sodium, and sugar; enquiring that fruit and vegetables be served at lunch and
dinner; requiring that water be served at every meal; and prohibiting sugary drinks. Also in 2008, NYC mandated calorie labeling on menus and menu
boards in chain restaurants".

How To Write A Satire Essay About Obesity
Farewell Obesity As our current society stands, it is miserable to stand still and speculate the outstanding amount of people who have been put aside
by society, who have been bullied upon, and suffered due to physical appearances. These individuals, instead of enjoying a normal life, are forced to
confront the one problem they can't run away from; themselves. Furthermore, these individuals subside the average person due to their obesity; a
disease that affects 70% of American adults. Consequently, this disease causes an increasing amount of heart diseases, strokes, high blood pressure,
and diabetes in our current community. It is agreed upon our society that these individuals who suffer of obesity have been looked down upon and are
put at risk of discrimination regardless of how hard we try to end it. To make the problem worse than it already...show more content...
It is true that obese people have been struggling with obesity for many years but have never found a solution to lose weight; however, a revolutionary
idea has the power to change everything. Therefore, I propose to starve the people in our society who are considered obese, and spend that food on the
skinny in order to reach an equilibrium with the intention that everyone will eventually have the same weight depending on their height; the solution to
the central issue. Considering my idea, there is great advantages that occur which conclusively facilitate shopping for clothes, decrease suicidal rates
will, and increase the self–esteem for anybody. In the contrary, suggestions that diversity will decrease, people will strongly disagree, and a lot of
money will be spent for the project are revealed; nonetheless, the decline of diversity will lead to fewer social problems, people will eventually adapt,
and the money spent will be recovered in plentiful amounts in the long

Reducing The Spread Of Obesity
The same components that are increasing the spread of obesity in social networks may be used to slow, and eventually reverse the prevalence of
obesity among social ties. Cigarette use was incredibly common four decades ago, but smoking prevalence has dramatically declined. Cigarette
smoking cessation is an example of a positive health contagion, where cessation spread rapidly through networks and pushed smokers to the outside of
the network (Christakis & Fowler, 2008). A health contagion has not yet appeared to combat the majority of high BMI networks, but there are
promising signals.
Obesity–related intervention strategies have displayed significantly better results when individuals are placed in a group compared to targeting one
individual by a medical professional (Paul–Ebhohimhen & Avenell, 2009). Additionally, weight
–loss group interventions can be successful online
through social media platforms and have shown to increase physical activity levels at a significantly faster and higher rate than individuals alone
(Zhang, Brackbill, Yang, & Centola, 2015). Individuals who are overweight or obese display an increase inweight loss indent when the surrounding
social ties take part in weight loss behavior as well. (Leahey, LaRose, Fava, & Wing, 2010). Group obesity intervention may be a productive and
efficient tool in the facilitation of positive health communication and a strategy for increasing the amount of pro–health behavior communicators in an
individual's network.

Childhood Obesity Satire
This may seem a little alarmist to you, but childhood obesity in America is a big enough problem to warrant such a cry for help. Don't believe me?
Take a look around and try to count how many obese children and parents you see while out and about during a normal day. Don't stare, but you might

enough.

Obesity Satire
For my satire project, I focused on the topic of Obesity for which to find a humorous solution. Today obesity is an exponential problem in the
United States. Americans are evolving into the laziest humans in the world because we don't want to work towards the goal of being fit; all we
want to do is take a pill and wake up skinny in a week's time. The industry for weight loss and its advertisement has gone way too far, and they are
steering us in a bad direction. Likewise, my targeted audience would be the industry of diet planning and those who fall into the trap of "losing thirty
pounds a month" with a formulated shake or pills. Given these points, my purpose for this assignment is to expose the ridiculousness of the weight loss
plans in today's...show more content...
My incredibly mocking solution was developed through the devices of understatements, hyperboles, and verisimilitudes. First of all, I am gluing the
mouths of people shut and starving them. In the commercial, the voiceover talks in a optimistic, enthusiastic voice, acting as if nothing is inhumane
about this at all. Consequently, the solution and method of my proposed diet plan is completely understated like it's just another diet plan to try.
Secondly, exaggerations are very apparent throughout the video. For God's sake, I created a pill made of wood and hair. Not only is that awfully
disgusting, but it's hyperbolizing the fillers we take to curb our wild appetites, such as in powder and pill form. Also, I exaggerate the fact that this
could save world hunger. Obviously, it won't; we have many events and groups dedicated to ending to world hunger, yet it still thrives in an abundance
of countries. Last but not least, I use verisimilitude to create a sense of authenticity to the plan and product I am selling to the audience. Aside from the
reality of this being a satire, it would result in multiple benefits, such as food for the hungry and homeless, money savings on grocery and restaurant
bills, and save room in the house important items (other than food). In conclusion, the commercial for my new and trendy diet plan was

The Impact of Obesity on a Person's Lifestyle
The Impact of Obesity
Research Proposal
Research Proposal
Introduction
Obesity is a condition where the fat in the body is collected and stored in huge amounts. It is the Body Mass Index (BMI) which is the comparison
between the weight and the height of a person that would help in identifying obese cases. If BMI's is greater than 25, the person would be called
overweight and if it is more than 30 than he would be called obese. Obesity is an issue of public concern because of the threat it has towards the
physical and the mental health, to the relationship, development and the overall well being of an individual. It is not only limited to a particular age
group, gender, culture or a part of the globe. Instead, every individual is in danger to its bad affects.
Research Question
To what extent does obesity affect a person's lifestyle?
The impact of obesity on health: One of the major consequences of obesity is its impact on destroying the physical health of individuals because of
which they become subject to illnesses like diabetes, blood pressure and cancer.
Impact of obesity on the mental health: Obesity gives rise to psychological problem and worries for the person because of which he faces difficulty in
functioning properly.
The social impact of obesity: although overlaps the concept of mental health, it includes the way society treats obese people and the difficulties they
face because of it
Economic consequences of obesity: This is a new aspect where obesity

Obesity Comes With Psychological Effects Essay
Obesity Comes With Psychological Effects Matthew Nusbickel Caledonia – Mumford High School Abstract This paper discusses the theory that in
some way, shape, or form every person who is medically considered obese or believes they are obese will be affected negatively. Many articles
used in this paper have shed light to what some of the effects of being obese are. Disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, and misleading body image
are all psychological issues faced by obese people each and every day (At Risk For Eating Disorders, 2013, Sep 30). This paper examines how
people react to these psychological differences and if they are even aware their psyche is being affected. Introduction There have been many
studies and tests to determine if being obese has a major effect on the psyche. Some studies showed there are many different responses and
psychological effects that vary from person to person. Most of the research that has been done shows that most obese people have some type of
psychological stumbling block that an average person does not typically have to struggle with. An obese person is going to experience
psychological effects whether they know it or not. Some effects are very obvious such as wanting to lose weight so much where they develop an
eating disorder (At Risk For Eating Disorders, 2013, Sep 30), or very subtle like a food addiction that the person may not even know they have

health issues and can lower quality of life. Obesity also manages to burden society, it effects everyone, the obese and the non obese. Although some
extenuate the issue, believing that it does not to be addressed; obesity is a issue that cannot be ignored by society or the government. There are those
who try to deny the fact that action is necessary , they may try to rationalize an obese lifestyle by stating it does not harm others. They may also state
that personal freedoms are violated in attempts by the government to control weight. Others might also argue that targeting obesity creates

Satire Essay On Broken Food System

  • 1. Satire Essay On Broken Food System Prabhat Singh 4117–4489 April 15, 2015 Great discrepancies have grown in the physical health of the citizens. Nearly half of African Americans born in year 2000 are expected to develop type II diabetes. Blacks are 30 percent more likely to die young from heart disease than white or any other racial group. While 34 percent people in the United States are obese, almost one out of every six households will find themselves fearful sometime in a year of not having sufficient amount of food to eat. Truly, these problem are not related to any specific one race or gender, and they are not simply due to faults of willpower or personnel discipline. As author mentioned they are symptoms of a broken food system. Who to blame for all this? Is it the corrupt...show more content... Due to which we have to be entirely dependent on a food system which is corrupt and unsafe. I absolutely agree with Allen's thinking that everyone should have equal access to healthy, affordable food should be a civil right– every bit is as important as other necessary things required to survive. This system has definitely placed quantity over quality, uniformity over diversity and profit over service. Wrong focuses and information are provided to the farmers to grow commodity crops. Food is being processed by machines and higher chemical process which is significantly affecting the citizens physically and mentally. These all circumstances have risen over the past decades. My question is what exactly have government done to correct or figure out these problems? The answer is nothing, if they had taken some actions and measures results would have been different and people would have been much healthier and physically fit. It's the time for government to intervene and take care of these issues seriously. A government is formed from public support and should only aim to work for public means. I feel like political parties and senior government officials are busy getting their political motto straight by ignoring the fact to serve the citizens of this Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 3. Low Fat Movement Essay When you have something as massive and scary as the obesity epidemic, it's hard to point the finger at one single element and say, "that's why it happened." But however you slice it, the low–fat movement played a part in the epidemic. After World War ll, heart disease rates began to rise precipitously. In the 1970s, a committee led by Senator George McGovern issued a report advising Americans to lower their risk of heart disease by eating less fat. This recommendation was based on evidence that linked diet to heart disease. Unfortunately, the report wrongly singled out saturated fat as the wicked element in our diet responsible for all our problems. This was the beginning of the low–fat movement. And of the obesity epidemic. It's more than a coincidence that they happened at the same time, and here's why. Once dietary fat was "identified" as the chief culprit in heart disease –– a huge case of mistaken identity in my opinion –– food manufacturers sprang into...show more content... The whole low–fat movement coincided with a huge spike in food processing and those who process and manufacture food products for a living have one goal –– getting people to eat more of their products. That's easy to do –– just engineer combinations of sugar and a bit of fat, which worked really well with the whole "low–fat" philosophy. As long as it didn't have too much fat, you could eat it, right? Meanwhile, fat –– the one macronutrient that keeps you full and satisfied –– was lacking from most of what we were eating. Sugar, the one element that keeps cravings going, was plentiful. Portion sizes in general collectively took a shot of steroids, as the whole country decided that super sizing was its birthright. Low fat has a lot to answer for. It may not be the only reason we're experiencing one of the worst health epidemics in modern times, but it sure is one of the biggest.

  • 5. Obesity : A Serious Health Issue Obesity is a very serious health issue in the United States. It is a factor in heart disease, diabetes, and has even been linked to an increased likelihood of certain cancers. Cottum and Anderson (2008) state "It is estimated that 280,000 excess deaths in the United States annually can be attributed to obesity and morbid obesity when compared to cohorts who have normal BMI" (p. 480). When considering the health issues that come along with obesity and the amount of people dying because of this condition, it is plain to see that America's weight problem needs to be fixed. In order to begin solving. Through nutritional education, psychological care, and plenty of emotional support, America can beat obesity. To begin with, Americans need to be more educated aboutnutrition and how to make wise choices in regard to their health. Nutritional and physical education should start as early as possible, and should be a part of a school cirriculum and home life. Brewer and Rieg (2013) wrote about an investigation into a grant–funded obesity prevention program that was conducted involving eight preschool employees. The program required sixty minutes of mandatory organized physical activity each week, and a change in foods served to the children was implimented. Over

  • 7. Obesity Crisis Research Paper "Though I have never heard of the obesity crisis, it is obvious that obesity is an issue". This is the opening statement of the paper I wrote at the beginning of the semester, which is unbelievable now. I have learned so much about the obesity crisis: when it began, what lead to it, how it affects the country, how obesity effects an individual, what contributes to it, what other countries have done and are doing to battle the issue and what we can do in America to combat it, along with the process of reliable research and how important it is to question what might seem obvious. Maybe the popular opinion is the truth, but maybe, such as in the case of the obesity crisis, it is as far off as it can get. In just a few months, I have gone from ...show more content... My original essay is almost the complete opposite of what I now believe. I said that people consume so much fast food because their lives are busy and they are looking for something quick and easy rather than taking the time to cook something at home. This would mean that all fast food consumption is a decision made by a person to be unhealthy either because they are busy, lazy or do not care about their health or weight. This is absolutely true in some cases, but falls very short of being the whole truth. By being encouraged to look at the fast food industry rather than just the obese person, I have found that most of the blame for people consuming too much fast food needs to be put on the industry itself. They really do know what they are doing. Food ques are all over, they know what people want to see and hear, they know how to pull people in by using color psychology, aiming ads at the most vulnerable people (children, busy working parents, college students, etc.) and by making it nearly impossible to be anywhere without a food que. Not only do I disagree with the causes that I brought up in my original paper, I also cannot believe that I only targeted the fast food industry. The entire food and beverage industry is a problem along with any industry, company, organization or person who is being paid, sponsored or employed by them. It makes complete sense that the food industry Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Satire On Obesity Who To Blame Having one severe disease can lead to have a tuff life or even more it can cost someone's life. In the earlier years before the 70's obesity started to increase, and people were not aware of what was causing this epidemic. In these earlier years fast food restaurants started to increase so did their costumer's this caused more and more people to consume meals out of their homes. Now the big problem in this day is that many individuals don't put a stop to this epidemic. Or many don't accept the truth behind these bad foods that can cause a big problem to the body. There are many solutions for the obesity, but it is for individuals to make a change. But many of the people depend on these types of products people love the taste...show more content... The rise of eating healthy even forced some food makers to remove unhealthy ingredients from their products. By targeting healthier and organic foods and ignoring the junk foods, this will increase the eating habits of several teens and adults. This generation needs to change the way they eat because it will show later in the years on their blood pressure on how much they need to eat or what they need to be eating to stay healthy. Those who choose to eat hamburgers, fried chicken, surgery foods are in danger to have a higher rest of an unhealthy body were it will lead to make changes when it is too late and their bodies are already mistreated with all these filthy foods. Now commercials are using good influential information in which it states that 20 min outside doing an activity can help every day. This informs parents to guide their children to go steps and leading them to go out play, run or do a fun activity that will keep the child busy and hyped, this will helps the child by exercising and staying healthy. It also gives tips to feed the child a healthy snack every two or one hour by giving then fruit, vegetable or a small healthy meal to maintain his body strong and energized. This also fits for teens and adults as in going out have a jog, ride a bike or walk every day for an hour or two. Also to maintain a healthy diet and eating healthier. There also information in schools that helps Teens and children, meals in schools changed more healthy foods are giving and less fat and non–organic foods are losing their place in the schools by removing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Satire Essay On Obesity Epidemic coolbodybuilding.com It's almost impossible to hide from the news and discussion about the obesity epidemic that's taking both lives and shattering the quality of life world wide. It's in the papers, on television and being blogged about on the internet almost endlessly. Just Do It If that's not enough, unless you're blind it's hard to walk the streets of any big city or small town and not see the end product of this epidemic first hand. The hard brutal truth is that people are getting fatter and fatter and this is a real health crisis that only a fool could ignore. There's plenty of reasons for this here are just the most blindingly apparent... Many People Eat Way too Much Way too Often. It's a hard truth that can't be escaped....show more content... Cultures who approach health more naturally and holistically have largely avoided this issue and have been also able to avoid the obesity related health concerns that come along with it. Our societies for the most part haven't figured this out yet. These are just some of the many reasons the obesity plague is spreading in such a quick and deadly manner. There's plenty more, trust me. The question stands – what can we do about it? How can we turn the tide against obesity? The answer is, of course, diet and exercise. There's plenty of diverse ideas about both, some good and a few bad. This guide offers what I feel may be the perfect solution to a vast majority of people's struggle with putting on fat. It's fairly simple and packed with power, inline with both nature and common sense. Most importantly it works and works almost like magic. • 11. Persuasive Speech On Obesity Obesity Did you know that there are over 2 Billion obese people in the World? Did you know that worldwide obesity has nearly doubled since 1980? Did you know that obesity is the 5th leading cause of death globally? It's no mystery that obesity is a gargantuan issue worldwide. Irrespective of where you go there is certain to be an obese population; over thirty percent of the America's population is obese and in the U.K, it is twenty–five percent. As a matter of fact, there is a mean of more than fourteen percent of people who are obese in every country. Greasy and unhealthy meals which are dangerous to the human body are sold everywhere you go; you simply can't escape from them. Studies show that 41% of men aged 20–65 will be obese and 36% of women will be obese by 2020. That's almost half the population! A healthy diet and exercise 2 to 3 times a week is the key to not becoming obese. Although obesity can lead to many deadly diseases, it is not classed a disease itself even though some Doctors say it causes people to eat too much and exercise too little. It can damage the body and decrease regular body characteristics, like a sickness, but it can be treated (in contrast to some illnesses) and a person can return to a healthy state of living if they keep persevering. That's right. Obesity can be treated if you follow the right lifestyle. People are looking past obesity as if it is insignificant, but if we properly educate these people and the obese population, then many Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Obesity : The Fight Against Obesity OBESITY ENG 122 English Composition II Eunice Williams Ashford University Instructor: Matthew Fox October 6, 2014 While for many feel that obesity is a personal and must be fought in secret with no involvement of anyone else, many will disagree with that because obesity affects every tax payer and impair a community as a whole. Obesity is a big problem here in my America and it has to be a matter of public discussion. This fight can be done through a lot of places, churches, physician offices, dietary and nutrition offices this fight cannot be done by individual, people that are obesity need the public to pitch and help them in how to lose weight and start a healthy life style. This paper will address why and why not obesity is considered an epidemic, and address why the fight against obesity should be a public discussion and concerned. It is hard for someone to get over an accelerated addiction without the public help, people that are obese are addicted to food and the life style they are used to, it is important for society to be involved. " In 2008, the city established nutrition standards for the 270 million meals and snacks various government agencies serve each year, including restricting trans fat, sodium, and sugar; enquiring that fruit and vegetables be served at lunch and dinner; requiring that water be served at every meal; and prohibiting sugary drinks. Also in 2008, NYC mandated calorie labeling on menus and menu boards in chain restaurants". Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. How To Write A Satire Essay About Obesity Farewell Obesity As our current society stands, it is miserable to stand still and speculate the outstanding amount of people who have been put aside by society, who have been bullied upon, and suffered due to physical appearances. These individuals, instead of enjoying a normal life, are forced to confront the one problem they can't run away from; themselves. Furthermore, these individuals subside the average person due to their obesity; a disease that affects 70% of American adults. Consequently, this disease causes an increasing amount of heart diseases, strokes, high blood pressure, and diabetes in our current community. It is agreed upon our society that these individuals who suffer of obesity have been looked down upon and are put at risk of discrimination regardless of how hard we try to end it. To make the problem worse than it already...show more content... It is true that obese people have been struggling with obesity for many years but have never found a solution to lose weight; however, a revolutionary idea has the power to change everything. Therefore, I propose to starve the people in our society who are considered obese, and spend that food on the skinny in order to reach an equilibrium with the intention that everyone will eventually have the same weight depending on their height; the solution to the central issue. Considering my idea, there is great advantages that occur which conclusively facilitate shopping for clothes, decrease suicidal rates will, and increase the self–esteem for anybody. In the contrary, suggestions that diversity will decrease, people will strongly disagree, and a lot of money will be spent for the project are revealed; nonetheless, the decline of diversity will lead to fewer social problems, people will eventually adapt, and the money spent will be recovered in plentiful amounts in the long Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Reducing The Spread Of Obesity The same components that are increasing the spread of obesity in social networks may be used to slow, and eventually reverse the prevalence of obesity among social ties. Cigarette use was incredibly common four decades ago, but smoking prevalence has dramatically declined. Cigarette smoking cessation is an example of a positive health contagion, where cessation spread rapidly through networks and pushed smokers to the outside of the network (Christakis & Fowler, 2008). A health contagion has not yet appeared to combat the majority of high BMI networks, but there are promising signals. Obesity–related intervention strategies have displayed significantly better results when individuals are placed in a group compared to targeting one individual by a medical professional (Paul–Ebhohimhen & Avenell, 2009). Additionally, weight –loss group interventions can be successful online through social media platforms and have shown to increase physical activity levels at a significantly faster and higher rate than individuals alone (Zhang, Brackbill, Yang, & Centola, 2015). Individuals who are overweight or obese display an increase inweight loss indent when the surrounding social ties take part in weight loss behavior as well. (Leahey, LaRose, Fava, & Wing, 2010). Group obesity intervention may be a productive and efficient tool in the facilitation of positive health communication and a strategy for increasing the amount of pro–health behavior communicators in an individual's network. • 15. Childhood Obesity Satire This may seem a little alarmist to you, but childhood obesity in America is a big enough problem to warrant such a cry for help. Don't believe me? Take a look around and try to count how many obese children and parents you see while out and about during a normal day. Don't stare, but you might be astounded when you open your eyes and begin to look for the problem. Here's the thing about Americans, though. Once the red alert goes out, we're usually good at rallying around and solving the problem with good old American know–how. Unfortunately, not a lot of people have heard the red alert aboutchildhood obesity in America or haven't taken it seriously enough. Because of that, if you're reading this, it's more important than ever for you to take Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Obesity Satire For my satire project, I focused on the topic of Obesity for which to find a humorous solution. Today obesity is an exponential problem in the United States. Americans are evolving into the laziest humans in the world because we don't want to work towards the goal of being fit; all we want to do is take a pill and wake up skinny in a week's time. The industry for weight loss and its advertisement has gone way too far, and they are steering us in a bad direction. Likewise, my targeted audience would be the industry of diet planning and those who fall into the trap of "losing thirty pounds a month" with a formulated shake or pills. Given these points, my purpose for this assignment is to expose the ridiculousness of the weight loss plans in today's...show more content... My incredibly mocking solution was developed through the devices of understatements, hyperboles, and verisimilitudes. First of all, I am gluing the mouths of people shut and starving them. In the commercial, the voiceover talks in a optimistic, enthusiastic voice, acting as if nothing is inhumane about this at all. Consequently, the solution and method of my proposed diet plan is completely understated like it's just another diet plan to try. Secondly, exaggerations are very apparent throughout the video. For God's sake, I created a pill made of wood and hair. Not only is that awfully disgusting, but it's hyperbolizing the fillers we take to curb our wild appetites, such as in powder and pill form. Also, I exaggerate the fact that this could save world hunger. Obviously, it won't; we have many events and groups dedicated to ending to world hunger, yet it still thrives in an abundance of countries. Last but not least, I use verisimilitude to create a sense of authenticity to the plan and product I am selling to the audience. Aside from the reality of this being a satire, it would result in multiple benefits, such as food for the hungry and homeless, money savings on grocery and restaurant bills, and save room in the house important items (other than food). In conclusion, the commercial for my new and trendy diet plan was Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 19. Obesity Comes With Psychological Effects Essay Obesity Comes With Psychological Effects Matthew Nusbickel Caledonia – Mumford High School Abstract This paper discusses the theory that in some way, shape, or form every person who is medically considered obese or believes they are obese will be affected negatively. Many articles used in this paper have shed light to what some of the effects of being obese are. Disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, and misleading body image are all psychological issues faced by obese people each and every day (At Risk For Eating Disorders, 2013, Sep 30). This paper examines how people react to these psychological differences and if they are even aware their psyche is being affected. Introduction There have been many studies and tests to determine if being obese has a major effect on the psyche. Some studies showed there are many different responses and psychological effects that vary from person to person. Most of the research that has been done shows that most obese people have some type of psychological stumbling block that an average person does not typically have to struggle with. An obese person is going to experience psychological effects whether they know it or not. Some effects are very obvious such as wanting to lose weight so much where they develop an eating disorder (At Risk For Eating Disorders, 2013, Sep 30), or very subtle like a food addiction that the person may not even know they have (Jayson, 2012, Aug 02). • 20. Obesity Satire Obesity weighs on society Is there a huge health issue occurring in our country? Yes obesity is a quagmire that this country faces ; it causes many health issues and can lower quality of life. Obesity also manages to burden society, it effects everyone, the obese and the non obese. Although some extenuate the issue, believing that it does not to be addressed; obesity is a issue that cannot be ignored by society or the government. There are those who try to deny the fact that action is necessary , they may try to rationalize an obese lifestyle by stating it does not harm others. They may also state that personal freedoms are violated in attempts by the government to control weight. Others might also argue that targeting obesity creates Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 21. Satire Essay On Fast Food Death. Obesity is a major factor when it comes to death. Fast food all around the nation has struck the weight scales like a truck driver hits a deer. The ignorant food industry, just like the truck driver, goes on without truly caring. Just caring about getting the job done and being paid. A change must be made to the food industries. The policy–makers should always take into consideration that obesity has risen, industries are targeting children, and products are starting to be more contaminated with different diseases. First of all, humans in general have started getting overweight. Half of which is their fault mostly because they control what they eat and when they eat. Niagara Bottling has issued a voluntary recall of spring water produced at two Pennsylvania plants from June 10 through June 18 due to evidence of E. coli bacteria at the spring source (Brumfield). For example A total of 12 persons infected with the outbreak strains of Shiga toxin–producing Escherichia coliO157:H7 (STEC O157:H7) were reported from 4 states (CDC). And that was in 2014. There has been an outbreak of E. coli every year so far since 2006. E. coli is not a disease most people want because that affects you from both sides and most agree that it does not feel good. I propose that a policy should be put into place where all food must first go through an inspection to see whether or not the food is contaminated with E.coli or any disease in that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 22. Satire Essay On Body Image I wake up every day feeling different, feeling as if I do not belong here. This feeling is brought on by my body image. These days you open a magazine and all you see are beautiful curvy women and I also see that around me everyday wondering why I can't have those curves. I have never struggled with body image in my life not until people started pointing out how skinny I am, asking if I had or have an eating disorder, wrapping their hands around my wrist and always saying "You are really skinny". I get it I am skinny please stop pointing out my flaws, you don't hear me saying, "You are really fat" or "you should eat a salad instead of stuffing yourself with a burger." Those words have never come out of my mouth and never will because its offensive and it can ruin a person and push them off the edge.
