displayed to the public, and in some cases bred. The term "zoological garden"
refers to zoology, the study of animals.

3. Why do we need zoo?
• zoos are necessary because they unite and
educate the community, providing an
understanding of the interdependence of
animals and their habitats, and conduct
conservation programs of animals in the
wild, including breeding programs to
reintroduce extinct and endangered
species back into their natural
environment.
4. • The tiger (Panthera tigris) is the largest extant cat species
and a member of the genus Panthera. It is most
recognisable for its dark vertical stripes on orange-brown
fur with a lighter underside. It is an apex predator, primarily
preying on ungulates such as deer and wild boar.Tiger
5. The lion is a species in the family Felidae and a member
of the genus Panthera. It has a muscular, deep-chested
body, short, rounded head, round ears, and a hairy tuft at
the end of its tail. It is sexually dimorphic; adult male
lions have a prominent mane.

6. Zebras are African equines
with distinctive black-and-
white striped coats. There
are three extant species: the
Grévy's zebra, plains zebra
and the mountain zebra.
Zebras share the genus
Equus with horses and asses,
the three groups being the
only living members of the
family Equidae.

7. Monkey is a common name that may refer
to groups or species of mammals, in part,
the simians of infraorder Simiiformes. The
term is applied descriptively to groups of
primates, such as families of New World
monkeys and Old World monkeys

8. Elephants are mammals of the family Elephantidae
and the largest existing land animals. Three species
are currently recognised: the African bush elephant,
the African forest elephant, and the Asian elephant.
Elephantidae is the only surviving family of the
order Proboscidea; extinct members include the
mastodons

mammal, the tallest living terrestrial
animal and the largest ruminant. It is
traditionally considered to be one
species, Giraffa camelopardalis, with
nine subspecies.

forming the family Cervidae. The two main groups of
deer are the Cervinae, including the muntjac, the elk,
the red deer, the fallow deer, and the chital; and the

mule deer, and the moose
