African Lions <ul><li>African lions live all over the middle of Africa. </li></ul><ul><li>Males and females can be told apart by their hair – only the males have manes (hair around their head) </li></ul><ul><li>These lions travel in groups called prides. </li></ul>QUIT Click to watch a video about lions!
  4. 4. Lowland Gorillas <ul><li>Lowland gorillas live in the middle of Africa on the Atlantic Ocean. </li></ul><ul><li>They grow to be about the size of an adult human, between 4 and 6 feet. </li></ul><ul><li>Gorillas are omnivores , so they eat both plants and animals. </li></ul>QUIT

African Elephants <ul><li>African elephants can be found in the entire lower part of Africa. </li></ul><ul><li>They are the biggest animals on earth! </li></ul><ul><li>They are endangered because hunters like to sell the elephants’ ivory tusks (the long teeth-like objects) for lots of money. </li></ul><ul><li>Click here to watch a video on how people are working to save elephants. </li></ul>QUIT
  6. 6. Zebras <ul><li>Zebras are found in parts of eastern Africa. </li></ul><ul><li>Their striped coats are thought to be used as camouflage , to hide themselves from predators. </li></ul><ul><li>Zebras can live to be about 25 years old. </li></ul>QUIT
  7. 7. Giraffes <ul><li>Giraffes can be found in the grasslands of Africa. </li></ul><ul><li>They are the tallest animal, sometimes up to 19 feet tall!
