the eardrum. It may be uncomfortable but usually
heals on its own without treatment within two
months. The eardrum, also known as
the tympanic membrane, is a thin layer of tissue

• Otalgia

• Hearing loss(conductive HL and mixed HL)
• Vertigo
• Tinnitus
12. Management
• Antibiotics therapy to prevent the infection.
• Prevent upper respiratory infection.
• Avoid nasal blow.
• Avoid ear drop.
• It takes 2-3 weeks to heel the ear drum.
• If three months perfection still exists
Myringoplasty is indicated.
13. Surgical management
•Tympanoplasty (it is a surgical correction of
performed ear drum. It’s performed under the
local anastasia. Depending upon the size and the
location of the TMP)
14. Nursing Management
• Keep the ear clean and dry.
• Warm compress to relieve pain
• Plug the ear with cotton while showering
• Avoid swimming
• Protect against excessive voice
