1. A RECORD LABEL SERVING THOSE WHO SERVED!
How many artists do you currently know of, or listen to, have a military background or
have served themselves? Let that resonate. Other than Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley, I
can’t name any within the music I currently listen to. Mr. Plamp, the USO would benefit
from this greatly. It would provide more quality artists to your tours and events and
mitigate the months of searching for talent to perform. Military personnel tend to stick
together and support each other no matter the circumstance.
Background and Purpose
There are a lot of talented musicians and artists currently serving our country. Many have
hopes of one day, living out their dreams and becoming a successful well-known artist in
the industry. Due to military contract and obligation, many tend to put their lives and
dreams on hold for a bigger purpose. There are some that would pick up small events
such as singing the national anthem at an event, or performing at weddings and
graduations on base, but then it ends there back to work they go. Some do get recognition
internally for showcasing their talents but never publicly. The purpose for this label
would be to bring these artists out publicly and introduce them to their peers all around
the world. I have personally met a ton of talented individuals during my 10 years of
active service.
Proposed Plan of Action
I am dedicated to starting a record label that is devoted to signing active duty
servicemembers, veterans and dependents. Once an artist is signed to the label, we will
focus on perfecting their skill, making great music no matter the genre, and sharpening up
their appearance and knowledge of the music industry. The thought process behind this
label that would make it a success is that all tours would be done on military installations
all around the world mainly in front of their peers. We would build their image publicly
to help build a fan base and following within the ranks. The label will build partnerships
with organizations that support veteran owned businesses to help offset expenses such as
travel and production costs, as well as artist commission while on tour. We would have
interviews conducted with sources such as Navy Times, to provide a bigger spotlight on
our artist within the military community. This would also raise popularity and awareness
so that when the artist goes on tour, they are well known within ranks, branch by branch.

Staffing
Our staff would consist of a team of highly trained and experienced personnel, mainly
people who have also served themselves. Harold Howard is the CEO/President/A&R
Director. He is a Full Sail University Music Business graduate and a Navy Veteran. Jane
Smith is the company’s sales manager director with over 10 years of logistics and sales
for the U.S. Army. Henry Jones is the company’s product management director, focusing
on publicity, marketing, coordinating tours and dealing with merchandise. Henry has over
12 years of experience serving as the head MC for his command in the U.S. Navy. Sarah
Jackson will handle all the business affairs for the label as she was a JAG lawyer for over
8 years in the U.S. Navy, and also a Harvard University Music Law graduate.
Budget
These are the proposed expenses to operate this type of record label:
Registering as a business- $1000
Staff Salary- $200,000
Creating Logo’s and Website- $500
Marketing & Promotion- $5,000
Music Recording/Production Expenses- $50,000
Music Licensing and Registration- $1000
Total- $257,500
I understand that the USO is a non-profit entity and are always supporting veteran owned
businesses. For this investment, it would build recognition and a lifetime partnership of
what’s to come within the music industry and particularly the future of this label. On top
of a percentage of royalties and NOI being donated back to the USO to further assist and
help servicemembers and veterans in other fields. Having artists at your disposal that are
strictly available to perform and tour on military installations is a plus.
Authorization
Mr. Plamp, this is a veteran own business looking to help and support other veterans and
service members pursue their musical dreams. I am asking the USO to partner with and
sponsor our record label, so that we can provide these talented artists an opportunity to
live out their dreams and perform in front of their peers. Please contact me by email at
