Name of Project: Development of a Multifunctional Railway Track Scavenging Vehicle
Name of the guide: Dr. Sharad K. Pradhan, HOD Mechanical Department, NITTTR, Bhopal, India
Student Name: Harinarayan Vishwakarma, Student, UIT-RGPV, Bhopal , India
This project was intended keeping in mind the conditions of the railway track in India regarding
the cleanliness of it. Hence this project is an initiative to make the rails clean and tidy and make it a
better and efficient transport system.
The core idea behind the project was based on the collection of dry and wet garbage lying on the
Indian railway tracks by suction and wiping action into a tank for final disposal. The machine moves on
the rails oncsthe op"ruto, gets the reatiim-e vision of presence of the garbug", he stops the vehicle and
then the scavenging operation starts. The suction manifold comes down along with the wipers and stops
with the help of u r"nror and limit switch. Now the wiper moves from left to right wiping the solid as
well as semi-solid wastes from the track. After covering 80% of its stroke the air jets blow high pressure
air behind the wiper to assist in suction. Once the wiper completes its stroke, the suction pump sucks the
waste and stores it in a container. Now the suction unit moves upward to its home position and then a
strong jet of water clears the wiper. Now the wiper mbves up vertically and then from right to left
horizontally till it reaches its initial position. Thereafter the machine travels ahead and the same
operation is performed on the next set,of sleepers. This will provide a better solution to the dreadful
conditions of the Indian Railway tracks and will make it more clean and hygienic.
Furthermore, the project received a patent in the name of Dr. Sharad K. Pradhan' The cost of the
machine is about 85000 US Dollars. The conceptual design took almost one year and the development
of first prototype will approximately take 24 months. The project has been approved for funding by the
Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India and the approval from the Ministry of
Railways is still in progress for the field trials after development of the vehicle.

Name of Project: Design and Development of Portable Rolliny'Spinning Mill
Name of the guide: Dr. Sharad K. Pradhan, HOD Mechanical Department, NITTTR, Bhopal,India
Student Name: Harinarayan Vishwakarma, Student, UIT-RGPV, Bhopal, India
This project was taken up to produce better, effective portable rolling/spinning mill for
Aluminum Sheets for manufacturing domestic cookware at low cost. The project is under preliminary
design stage and still requires literature survey, mathematical modeling and in depth understanding of
related design issues.
The core idea behind the project is to provide a better Rolling/Spinning Mill for producing
domestic cookware at low cost. In India particularly in Maharashtra state many small scale industries are
engaged in manufacturing of domestic cookware. Conventionally the Aluminum sheets are produced
using Hot and Cold rolling processes but for these small scale industries it is not feasible to go for these
methods. Only few big rolling mills can afford these approaches, hence to cater to the need of small
scale cook ware manufacturers this design and development project of Portable RollingiSpinning Mill is
taken up.

Apart from this, he has also contributed in a research paper on 'Investigation into Dynamic Response of a Truck Cabin behavior during Crash using finite element based approach' which is under review and will be published in IEEE Explorer. In addition to this, he is currently involved in a project on 'Portable Rolling/Spinning Mill', a project by a Cookware Manufacturing firm in Aurangabad. From observing his excellent work in these projects, I can confidently state that he has strong research potential coupled with his technical knowledge; he would function effectively as a research assistant in his graduate studies. In conclusion, I strongly recommend Harinarayan as a worthy candidate for the Graduate program in Mechanical stream from your esteemed University, with a research assistantship and full financial aid to this deserving student. I can assure you that he would prove to be a valuable asset to y2l*5 university and to his field. (Dr. S[arad K. Pradhan, HOD Mechanical Department, NITTTR, Bhopal, India Student Name: Harinarayan Vishwakarma, Student, UIT-RGPV, Bhopal , India This project was taken up to produce better, effective and multipurpose method for picking up the fruits from the trees. The machine intends to provide better way of picking the fruits more effectively at any time of the day or night. The core idea behind the project was to provide far better equipment for picking up the fruits that are available in the market. The device uses a 10 feet long telescopic metallic rod with elliptical cross- section so as to reduce hogging. The top end of the rod is equipped with an infra-red camera which projects the video feed of the fruit location on a screen fitted at the user end of the telescopic rod. The top end of the rod comprise of a basket and a pair of cutters. Once the operator locates the fruit a tree, he positions the pair of blades and press a lever at user end of the rod to cut the stem of the fruit a basket is provided below it to collect the detached fruit. The basket has a capacity to hold around 5-6 fruits at a time. The main feature of this device is the infrared camera which allows the operator to pick the fruit in the night as efficiently as during the day. Furthermore, a patent has been filled in the name of Dr. Sharad K. Pradhan for above device. The project took roughly about 10 months starting from June 2015 to April 2016. ffi(Dr. Sharad K.
