The video starts with Zara pulling a necklace
off. This connotes the idea that a previous
partner has given her that and it’s her way of
‘breaking free’ from that relationship
She then throws the necklace and it hits the
ground. The symbol on the necklace is a
heart, which is a recurring theme
throughout the video. This follows the idea
of someone ‘having your heart’ Therefore
she is saying that she doesn’t want her ex
partner’s heart by throwing a representation
of it on the floor.
This next scene shows her clapping followed
by an overlay of red graphic lines. This helps
carry the beat of the song as you have the
image of her clapping, the sound of her
clapping and the visual representation of
what the audio of a clap sounds like.
This is all in back and white apart from her
gold jacket. This could connote the idea of
‘knowing your worth’ so by wearing gold
she’s showing that she’s worth more than
her previous partner thought she was or
that she deserves better.
She uses graphics again to portray the ideas
shown within the lyrics. Here she blows a
kiss but instead of hearts is the word
“Shhhhh” to suggest that she’s not giving
out her love too easily but is keeping it to
herself until she finds someone she feels
deserves it.
The themes of hearts and love is shown
explicitly here by the heart graphics shown
around her. Connoting the idea that people
fall in love with her.

Here she is seen on her own, it is apparent
that she is the only one in this music video
which promotes brand identity as she is
establishing who she is as an artist as during
this song she was an upcoming artist. So by
using only her in the song, everyone knew
who she was.
She is seen dancing here with 2 other copies
of herself, this also helps establish brand
identity as it shows her skills as a dancer and
performer.
This whole video shows lots of short clips of
Zara singing and having fun, this scene
shows this by connoting the idea of the sun
with the yellow lines and the sea with the
blue lines. Many people relate the ideas of
sun and sea with being idyllic which is what
Zara is trying to get across, the idea of living
her best life.
This connotes the idea of ‘smoke and
mirrors’ which could suggest that her ‘lush
life’ is a façade and instead that her life isn’t
always as happy as she is portraying it to be.
Here she contrasts herself by putting a
shadow over her, against a white
background as well as having neon lips and
eyes. This connotes the idea of having light
and dark days – things being simultaneously
good and bad. This relates to the story of
her song, on the one hand she is upset
about a breakup but on the other hand she
is glad to be free.
Finally she is seen with a piece of paper with
someone’s number on it, she throws this
away which connotes the idea that she now
feels she doesn’t need a relationship, and
instead is going to love herself.
