towards our ambition.

8. Thomas Edison
O Thomas Edison (1847–1931) went to school for
only three months. His teacher felt he was
intellectually disabled because he couldn’t
relate to how Edison’s mind worked. Edison’s
mother was a teacher, she taught him at home.
Edison patented his first invention, an electric
vote-recording machine, at age 21. Thomas’s
goal was to produce a new invention every ten
days, and during one four-year period, he
averaged a new patent every five days. His lab
was so prolific that he was nicknamed the
“Wizard of Menlo Park.”
9. Mahatma Gandhi
O Mahatma Gandhi (1869–1948) was born and
raised in a Hindu merchant caste in India. At the
time of his birth, India was ruled by England. He
was a timid and shy boy, and he was afraid of
the dark. He encouraged oppressed people to
improve their circumstances and led peaceful
protests and strikes. Gandhi led the movement
to break away from England. He published the
Declaration of Independence of India, making
the case for Indian self-government.

Once he was fighting a battle. He was defeated. He
had to run away to the mountains to save his life. He
hide himself in a safe place. Tired and hungry he sat
at one place quietly watching little things around
him. He noticed an Ant working. The Ant was
carrying a grain of rice much bigger than itself. With
this load the Ant tried to climb up a wall. The grain
fell down. The Ant came down and lifted the grain
once again. It started to climb the wall. Again the
grain fell down and again it went down to try. The
Ant did not loose courage. It tried again and again.
The King tells us that the Ant tried 33 times until it
succeeded in taking the grain up the wall. The King
learnt a lesson. Man looses courage. He was weak.
He must grow strong

OA New York Times editorial on
December 10, 1903, questioned the
wisdom of the Wright Brothers who
were trying to invent a machine,
heavier than air that would fly. One
week later, at Kitty Hawk, the Wright
Brothers took their famous flight.

29. Persistence or Consistancy
OQur'an teaches: "And that there is
nothing for man except what he tried,
His efforts shall be seen. And
rewarded to fullest extent."
(Sura An-Najm
53:39-41)
O Moral: Falling down is not defeat...defeat is
when you refuse to get up...
30. Consistency is a Must
OAn important thing to remember
when seeking knowledge as in
many other things in life, is that
one must be consistent if they
want to achieve any level of
success.
31. O The Prophet ( صلىهللاعليهوسلم ) said in a
narration collected by al-Bukhaaree رحمههللا) )
on the authority of ‘Aaisha ( ضيهللاعنه ),
O Upon you is that which you have the ability to do.
By Allah, Allah will never become bored, and will
thus continue to reward you until you yourself
become bored with doing good deeds. Verily, the
most beloved Deen to Allah is that which an
individual is the most consistent upon.”
