1. His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin (TUS)
expressed a desire that 2 lakh trees be planted across the
World during the pious month of Ramadan by the
members of the Dawoodi Bohra Community. His
Holiness (TUS) himself started this noble initiative at
Hasanfeer by planting a sapling. Every tree will be
tagged with a number and a barcode to identify its
location, date of its plantation, species, length and also
to keep a track about its health.

2. Trees are one of the
most beneficial legacies that we can leave to future generations. Not only do trees beautify our
surroundings and raise property values, they clean the air, protect us from the elements, and
save electricity. Here are a few guidelines that will help you to organize, plan, and effectively
carry out a Tree Planting event that will benefit everyone now and in the future.
Every project starts with planning, which is important for the event
to be successful. Start planning for a tree plantation by choosing a
place where the plantation can be carried out.
Permission from concerned authorities is required to plant trees. A
permission letter is to be submitted to the Tree Authority / Garden
Department in your respected municipal ward / panchayat /
municipal office. Permission will be granted as per the prevailing
conditions.
Also consult the residents of the area where the plantation is to be
done. There should be no disputes arising due to planting of trees,
as getting permission in such circumstances is difficult.
A research should be conducted to study the native plants. Prevailing
environmental conditions, nature of the soil, etc. should also be
studied to make your tree plantation a success.
After going through above steps, start with collecting resources for
the event. Resources will include saplings / seedlings, shovel, water,
gloves, etc. Also start preparing for the human resource /
participants.
On the day of the event see to it that the project is properly
implemented. Divide the responsibilities of your tree-planting event
among several people. Put one person in charge on planting day.
Once the event is completed see to it that the saplings or seedlings
that have been planted are growing perfectly. Watering, pruning,
mulching, fertilization, insect and disease control, etc. are few things
to be looked upon.
The efforts and resources used for the planting should not go to waste and the site not
be destroyed or dumped with garbage after a few days / months. If possible also try to fix tree
guards once the plants start growing, this will help to save them from stray animals and provide
them support to grow.
